- Carnival Cruise Lines and Royal Caribbean are often the first cruise lines new cruisers sail, but there are many other cruise lines. In this episode, I talk with Walter from Where's Walter Travel and we break down our personal choices of which cruise line is better when it comes to Princess Cruises and Celebrity Cruises. This conversation is just part of a larger one that we had about cruising on the La Lido Loca Podcast. Check out the full episode using the link below.

PRINCESS or CELEBRITY? Comment Below! - If you want more of this conversation check out the full video podcast episode here: ua-cam.com/video/6yYu5XZAVGY/v-deo.html
Princess ships have self-serve laundromats, which we greatly appreciate as we don't have to pack as many outfits.
I agree. Especially when I did a transatlantic cruise!
YES! I wish more cruise lines still had them. Disney and Princess are two of the only ones left. Especially when you're on a 14 day or longer, that self serve laundry is pretty sweet.
Tony said “Princess is to Classical Music as Celebrity is to Jazz. You said “smooth jazz” which is considered by some as an insult. Jazz is an art form.
I’ve been on 7 Princess cruises and my 1 Celebrity cruise tops them all. The sameness of the Princess fleet is not appealing.
Facts. Self serve laundry is severely under rated
OMG Tony I just got off my first Princess cruise. I can't, can't, can't go back to carnival, royal caribbean, ncl. Princess was an absolute bomb. The food is over the top. The service is over the top. And the crew is actually happy.
Glad you had a great time!
When wifey and I started cruising without our kids (a lot of Carnival cruises), we jumped to Celebrity. I looked at Princess but was concerned that the age group would skew older (65+). We’ve been beyond happy with Celebrity and have two on the calendar now. A 10 day Med this summer and a 10 day Caribbean in Nov 2024. Maybe we’ll try Princess if the right deal comes up. Celebrity delivers extraordinary service and food without being over the top on pomp and circumstance. We’re both 54/53 and find Celebrity maps well to our age group.
I think you'll find the Royal Class ships especially match up well with Celebrity. I think the age group on both cruise lines is pretty similar. If you're enjoying Celebrity that much you really should give Virgin Voyages a try. For me, Celebrity and VV are a very similar vibe, except the pool is tiny on VV. But the food quality is over the top on VV. Thanks for watching!
@@WheresWalterTravel I’ll have to check VV out then. I was unsure if VV does 10 day cruises. We’ve come to the point of any vacation for us has to be at least 10-14 days total. It’s just too much work to fly from California to FL ports for a cruise less than 10 days.
@@muzaaaaak No 10 day cruises yet unless you put two cruises together. Valiant Lady does 8 day itineraries during the winter season and Scarlet Lady does regular 4 and 5 day itineraries. I hear you on the longer cruises, we did 7 days on Sky Princess and it just wasn't enough. And we live in Florida! :)
We love Princess! And we want to try Celebrity. Since we haven’t tried Celebrity yet, I can’t compare. But I can attest that Princess is wonderful!
You should really enjoy Celebrity if you like Princess. I think the food is comparable between the two. Celebrity still has the absolute best bar at sea with the World Class Bar though I really did enjoy the Good Spirits Bar on Sky Princess. We've sailed Celebrity Equinox, Reflection and Solstice so far, our next one will be on the Edge Class. But yes, Princess is absolutely wonderful!
@lalidoloca I'm a huge fan of Celebrity and admit I have never sailed on Princess...this conversation has me convinced I need to explore cruising with Princess.
If you're a big fan of Celebrity, I recommend starting with the Princess Royal Class ships. You'll find they compare very nicely. Happy cruising!
I always choose Princess! Itineraries, food, and crew are great! Elite benefits are appreciated too!
Just cruised the Beyond, fantastic ship and crew!
I like them both...also HAL...each has its own ethos and specialities. HAL has some fabulous music venues and commitment to music...Princess has wonderful service...and Celebrity has Aqua Class and more, which provides private dining, private lounges, and pool areas
HAL is amazing too! I think the food is a more 'meh' in the main dining room than Celebrity or Princess. But the buffet has been awesome, the ships are gorgeous and the crew outstanding. And oh my, the Celebrity Aqua Class is one of our favorite classes of cabins. :)
I love Sky Princess! Love the ship, staff, food, and above all else the ports of call!
What an an amazing ship. We sailed her last month and the food was amazing. We had a letdown in Sabatini's but the dining captain really came through. I've just started posting our vlogs on our channel from the cruise. That was our first Royal Class ship and it certainly won't be our last. :)
Ahhh, the paradox of choice. It often boils down to itinerary prefrrence for me. I could have a marvelous time on either line. Thanks for this discussion.😊
As I mentioned on the show, Princess really does have a lot of really unique itineraries. Holland America as well. But I have noticed in 2024, a lot of cruise lines are getting into very interesting itineraries. Especially Carnival expanding their Carnival Journeys. Interesting itineraries is one place where Virgin Voyages falls a little flat, they don't have the most interesting itineraries so that's more about the ship experience right now. Thanks for watching!
I love both Princess and Celebrity. Went on the Enchanted Princess in October and it was the most beautiful ship I had ever been on ( and I have done 30 cruises). Leaving tomorrow on Celebrity Beyond and am excited to see that one and meet Capt. Kate.
I am looking forward to Celebrity Beyond on 11/13/23 but am afraid Captain Kate may be on vacation then. I hope not! I don’t know what her contract / vacation cycle is.
I hope Captain Kate is still onboard, she's due for her 3 months off rotation anytime now. I'll be really curious what you think between Enchanted and Beyond. Sky Princess was absolutely stunning, but I don't know that much of anything can compare to Beyond. Have an amazing time!!
Given our senior age, and MUCH experience with Princess & Celebrity, we prefer Celebrity slightly over Princess. I think Celebrity is slightly more pricey. Princess is more fun-more family. Celebrity is a bit more classy.
We love celebrity and were just talking about princess or virgin. Great show to help us decide
Hi Tony, for me it's Celebrity. I've only been on the Millennium Class ships (Summit, Millennium, Constellation) and am happy with those. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Hi from Bob in Connecticut
Do agree Princess has some better itineraries. Our one issue that makes us prefer Celebrity is the cabin. The Princess balcony does not have a good seating area while Celebrity does. When we are on a long cruise this makes a big difference to us
Well, I started my love of cruising on the Matson Lines S.S. Lurline, RCCL, Sitmar, Princess. In those days the food and service were top notch. Yes I still love it but with the hugh ships its sometimes a bit of a cattle call thing, but the second the ship starts up and starts moving, it's magical! The food, if you want the best you do need to pay more otherwise the meals are hit and miss.👍
I've only ever done Princess or Celebrity. I think it depends on how much you want to spend. If you want to go for a suite, even just a mini suite, go for Celebrity. The Luminae restaurant and retreat lounge make it SO worth it. Other than that, I think they're both pretty much the same though I generally like the food on Celebrity a little better.
Great show Tony! I'm on Princess Carribean in June, can't wait!!! Take care...
Hey Tony, it’s Car..rusing day for us today ! March 25 .. San Pedro, California back to back California coastal. 14 days total. first time on a celebrity cruise the Soltice we were doing a back to back just so that we can really check it out and see what’s happening on this cruise line. It will be the 41 number Cruises for us so far. We are Princess fans because of the military extra credit on board and also us being shareholders on (CCL). Not much credit for anything as a first time cruiser on Celebrity but I will let you know my personal review when we come back on Easter Saturday …..Bon voyage.🎉❤
We just had a client on that ship for his very first cruise and he loved it. That class of ship is so much fun and Solstice was our first introduction to Celebrity. Don't forget to try out the World Class Bar, for me it's the best bar at sea. Happy Cruising! Our next cruise starts on Easter Sunday. :)
I've only been on one cruise - Princess. It was fabulous.
I have been on Princess twice (pre-pandemic) and I have 2 cruises booked with Celebrity coming up. One on the Eclipse for Halloween this year and one on the brand new Celebrity Ascent on January 7th 2024. So as of right now, I have no basis of comparison between the 2 lines. But I will soon find out which one I personally like more. I also hope to get on Virgin Voyages probably sometime in 2025. But I can say I did enjoy my Princess cruises. The food was wonderful, the staff excellent and the ships very elegant.
Those are two great ships to sail Celebrity, one is the Solstice class and of course the second will be the newest of the Edge class with the brothers as captains. Captain Dimitrios was actually our first Celebrity Captain on Solstice when we sailed her, he was a fabulous captain. The Ascent will be unlike anything you've ever sailed so I'm betting that will be your favorite ship after you sail her. :) But you really can't go wrong with Princess, Celebrity or VV.
@@WheresWalterTravel Can you really go "wrong" on any of the lines :) A day at Sea is always better than a day anywhere else in my book!
@@CruiseSeakers 1000% Where else can you be waited on hand a foot with glorious ocean views? :)
First time cruiser, going on Virgin this year. I chose it for being adult only, increased luxury and dining. Hope it’ll be a good trip!
We like Princess and Celebrity. We have also tried Royal C, Norwegian, Carnival and Holland America. Just returned last Saturday from the Rotterdam on ten day Southern Caribbean cruise. The Rotterdam Internet service was the best we have ever had. Food was excellent including the specialty restaurants. We had a Neptune suite which was huge . Also had concierge service in the Neptune Lounge which was like the United Airlines Red Carpet Lounge. So our top 3 cruise lines are Holland, Princess and Celebrity.
The Rotterdam was pulling out of Ft. Lauderdale right behind Sky Princess during our sailaway. She looks like a beautiful ship. How was the food in the MDR? That was our only knock on the Nieuw Amsterdam when we sailed her. The MDR was 'meh' but the buffet and specialty dining were awesome. Thanks for watching!
@@WheresWalterTravel We ate in the main dining room once for lunch on the first day and it was fine. I noticed on the Lido buffet they offered many of same entrees that MDR was offering each night
Princess is my favorite. I am booked on my first Celebrity cruise in November, 6 nights on the Eclipse. I took your advice and decided to try a different line. The glass blowing sounds fun.
You should really enjoy the Eclipse. The glass blowing is the most unique thing you'll ever do on a cruise ship. :)
Our main decision maker is where can we drive to for most of our cruises. That's why we took the Princess South Pacific cruise back in 2020, it was round trip from LA. Didn't want cost to park my car that long so took a rental but still didn't have to deal with flying for either start or finish of the cruise.
Celebrity will be our next cruise line but that is partly from having reciprocity in status with Royal Caribbean and partly for their Iceland to Boston itinerary that has me intrigued.
Woooooo, that DOES have me intrigued too. I have to say, the cruise lines are starting to put out some really interesting itineraries of late. HAL has so many very interesting long-haul cruises that are amazing round trip from the U.S.
That was an interesting conversation, Tony. I'm going to go watch the podcast. Good idea to show a clip here! I've been thinking about trying a different line lately. Have a great day.
Thanks so much for watching! I had a great time with the discussion!
I knew you were going to say Princess. We aren't gamblers and Celebrity has Starlink. Our next cruise is on the Celebrity Apex. I did listen to your specialty dining comments of the Apex and made reservations on the Rooftop Grill instead of the Fine Cut because you said there was noise from the Martini Bar.
Have an AMAZING time! She looks like an amazing ship.
We've cruised with Princess 16 times, with more coming, and 3 Celebrity cruises with another to come next year. We love these smaller ships. We are seniors and don't need all the high activity type ships.
This should be a 3 way comparison Holland in my opinion is right there with this two all three are great . But the less you talk about Holland the better it could be my little secret 😅😂
Especially those Pinnacle Class ships, wow, so beautiful and those pools. Yes, Holland American can certainly enter this discussion. Or we can just keep it our little secret. :)
Great info. Food for thought
Thanks for watching!
Prefer celebrity over princess, but both are great. Loved watching the glass blowing.
Tony, don't forget you've also been on the Island Princess for the full transit Panama Canal last April !
LOL...love your sense of humor...torn between 2 lovers...plus now Holland and Virgin also Premium...
This is a great video . I have not tried either yet but just got off virgin and definitely want to try princess and celebrity .
Thanks so much for watching. They're both great cruise lines with amazing ships and crews!
Very interesting discussion, thank you !
Thank you for watching!
I just got off the beyond, this was my 21 Celebrity cruise it was the best food and service and entertainment of all of them. I like Celebrity they never give me a reason to leave.
Great video! Right up my alley. 😊
Thanks for watching!
I was on the Sky princess in February and I agree, the main dinning room was really good! Alfredo's gave the main dinning room big competition too!! The buffet was good too but I only ate there at breakfast. The Lido deck restaurants (Slice and... salty dog???) were very so-so. Not bad but definatelly a big step down from everything else. No reason to eat there with the buffet open all day. I was also disapointed with the ice cream offer, only one flavor at a time, no soft serve... could be a lot better.
Thanks Tony, this discussion really helped. 👍🏾 🎯💯
Glad the discussion was helpful! :)
Love Celebrity, their loyalty program is the best! Besides the great service everyone gets in all room categories we have been in some suites. There you get incredible butler service, a special suite restaurant and special lounge.
Thanks Tony for this vid…. this was exactly the info we have been looking for.
Thanks so much for watching!
@@WheresWalterTravel very glad we have found your channel… getting back to cruising now.
Were branching out from DCL (12 cruises) between HAL and Princess for our next land/sea Alaska cruise in 2024. Knowing Princess has a laundromat on board (just like Disney) puts a star in their column.
Oh wow, gotta say I'm a little jealous, we've only been on the Fantasy once as our only DCL cruise. What an amazing cruise line. Between HAL and Princess my first choice is always Princess and we recommend the Cruise Tour for all of our clients. They have 3 to 7 day land adventures that you can tack onto a 7 day cruise. When we went it was Fairbanks, Copper River and Denali for 7 days. We met the ship in Whittier for glacier scenic cruising, Skagway, Juneau, Ketchikan and Vancouver. You see so much more of Alaska if you add on the land portions. We've booked a bunch of clients both on the regular Cruise Tours and the connoisseur cruise tours that have a dedicated Tour Guide and all meals for the land portion.
Alternatively if you don't really want to do the land portion, HAL has some longer cruise itineraries of 14 to 28 days that add in more ports than your typical 7 or 10 day itinerary from the others. We've booked clients on the 14 day itinerary who just didn't want to get off the ship.
If we can help in any way feel free to reach out. But you really can't go wrong between Princess and HAL for Alaska. :)
@@WheresWalterTravel We LOVE Disney!!!!! Our next cruise is April 2024 on Gary Bembridge's members' cruise on HAL. How can I get more info on Princess land/sea cruise?
@@CruisingEngineer Reach out to me or Jenny, happy to help with planning a cruise tour. They're amazing!
Hi Tony 😊 great interview !! A lot of good information , thank you!!
Thank YOU for watching. :)
I love them both, some things better on Princess some things better on Celebrity
1000%. There are things we love about every cruise line and things that drive us batty on every cruise line. But that won't stop us from sailing any of them. :)
Celebrity has always been my favorite. I have 2 upcoming cruises with Celebrity 2 upcoming with Carnival and 1 upcoming with Royal. However after watching yours and Parodeejay's vlogs on Princess I really think I will have to give them a try.
If you're enjoying Celebrity certainly give the Princess Royal Class or possibly the new class that Sun Princess will introduce. And with that mix of cruise lines in your comments, Virgin Voyages should be on your radar as well. Really fun crew, the best food at sea (and it's all included), plus really good entertainment. The tiny pool is a knock, but I'll be doing 3 VV cruises by the end of this year. :)
Either Celebrity or Princess are my preferences, so destination would be the next deciding factor!
I’d go on Virgin but Princess comes in as a strong 2nd!
Thank-u for posting.
On my way to watch the podcast now!!! Great short show, from the big show.. Lol
Been cruising with Norwegian and Royal for over 10 years. Have one Norwegian and one Royal cruise coming up this year. With all the not so favorable changes with both of them, we just booked our first Celebrity for 2024.
Have an amazing time!
Once you go Celebrity Retreat class on one of the Edge class ships, you never go back.
Yes Tony, definitely hard for us to choose. Except for the Vloggers cruise, we have not strayed from either Princess or Celebrity. Partly due to our age demographic (early 70s) but the packages now give us great value on both, especially Princess. By the way, we were thrilled to briefly meet you on the Vloggers cruise! 👍🌞
That Princess Plus package is one of the few we recommend to our client because it really is a good deal. You're paying about $27/pp per day for the drinks package after gratuities and WiFi. That usually works out well for most people at that price point. You might give HAL or Virgin Voyages a try in the future if you're really enjoying Princess and Celebrity. Especially VV, such a fun ship and so much great food!
I am going on the Celebrity Reflection in April then December and next year in February. I am hopeful that this take on the same Ship is going to be good.
Great video ❤❤❤❤
That's the way I cruised. 1 Carnival, then moved to NCL with 1 Royal in the middle, then stepped up to Princess and finally landed on Celebrity and there we stay.
After trying both, i definitely prefer Celebrity.
The staff on Celebrity just seem to be friendlier and look after you better, especially during dinner. Theyre constantly filling your wine glass. I found on princess, because there was a 15 drink a day max, they waited until you ordered another glass of wine and made sure to record your medallion.
Also on Celebrity the 2nd night, i ordered a baileys coffeer, every single night after that, our server would just bring me out one.
We had interaction with the sommilier nightly on Celebrity but they were only available on princess if you wanted to buy a bottle of wine
Now having said that, we're trying our first Virgin Voyages cruise this year, and cant wait.
Crikey Tony! Haven’t you been on the Beyond? It ended up being my first (booked another in 2020…you may remember..) everyone working on board talks about Captain Kate with reverence and pride xx
Princess is to classical music as Celebrity is to smooth jazz. Perfect analogy.
Says it all, I've got jazz in my soul so it would be Celebrity for me.
Ooo this is helpful!! I think I'm classical
Discovery Princess has the Take Five lounge, though. I’m really looking forward to that next month.
We only started to cruise a little before the virus. Our first 7 or 8 trips were with Carnival. We have now also done 2 Princess cruises with just the wife and myself. We think Carnival is best for our family trips and Princess is just mom and dad. Next we are thinking to Try Holland America. 🤔❓
HAL is a great cruise line as well, especially the newer ships. We found the MDR 'meh' on the Nieuw Amsterdam when we sailed her pre-pandemic but the buffet was one of the best we've ever seen and the specialty dining was great. We've heard some reports that they have improved the MDR. I really want to sail on the Rotterdam sooner than later.
@@WheresWalterTravel free HA 12 day cruises from Venetian in Vegas. We have gotten the 10 day Princess trips a few times. Only pay tax and port fee. 👍🚢🏖🦆
I have only sailed Celebrity. I want to try Princess on my next cruise. Thank you for sharing Tony & Walter👍
Celebrity number 1 for me. Hands down! Have yet to try Virgin.
This was useful, thank you. My husband and I have cruised both Celebrity and Princess. Of late , we mostly have cruised Royal Caribbean but I’m thinking we should give the other two another cruise.
Variety is the spice of life! 8 cruise lines so far for us, hoping to make it 10 before the year is out. :)
I have sailed on Princess 45 times, 5 times on Celebrity including the Beyond last month. Princess overall is my favorite, but I did like the Celebrity Edge and the Beyond (I met Captain Kate!) except for the Infinite Balcony cabins which I didn’t like very much. The Princess Mini Suites are the best non full suite cabins there are. Princess definitely has better shows.
I've found the Royal Caribbean Junior Suites to be one of the best values out there today. The Princess Mini Suites are awesome, but I find the size and price point of the Junior suites are amazing. No real comparison on any line for the size and value. But those mini-suites on Princess are sweet. :)
I was on the Edge last April, I was disappointed that on the Edge class non Suite Class was not able to go the Bow area to look out.
I like Royal Caribbean
Both lines are very comparable but since we have been on the Apex and Beyond we have just been drawn to Celebrity more lately. We have also done the Princess Regal and Royal and love them very much but the Edge Class on Celebrity has really scored big in lots of areas with those ships. I’ve yet to cruise on the newer Royal Class such as the Sky,Discovery or Enchanted. We are book this September on the enchanted so that might change our perspective again as those newer Royal class ships with new additions to them seem to be a crowd pleaser as well.
As for the crew on the Beyond for us when we went they seemed to be a bit lost and under staff making them not as friendly because of the situation the line had put them in. It might of been just a little setback or a change of crew and Captain but we preferred by lots the crew on the Apex.
Thanks all
Sea ya
Eric
I'm super interested to see what the Sun Princess is going to be like. We loved the Sky Princess and the royal class so that should be interesting. We've yet to do Edge class, just the Solstice class on celebrity which we loved.
Props to NCL for changing their decision. It shouldn’t have ever gone to this but it did. 😖 Sure hope they “fix” the policy though, for others going forward. Thanks to u, n the other creators, for bringing this all to light n probably helping the resolution. Be blessed!!!!!
Love Princess!!! Will be on the Regal in 2 weeks!!
Princess I agree the casino is my turning point on Princess if you like to play they bring it
1:41 been on carnival, Rccl, princess, Holland America. Norwegian. RCCL 13 times. Everything else is just ok. Norwegian at the bottom
Tony. Getting all fancy on us with Celebrity and Princess.
I've had my 3 carnival cruises and each had it's trouble with flooded rooms and stench, maybe it's time to change
Carnival customers: Yeah, I'd just like to not encounter a knife fight in the stairwell?
I'm usually a Princess person. I have been on a Celebrity ship, many years ago, but found them to be close. Of course that could just be me. Becuase if I'm on a cruise I'm happy :)
Two very good cruise lines and after sailing Sky Princess, that Royal Class is an incredible update to the fleet. Sun Princess looks like it's taking a lot of cues from Celebrity Edge class so that should be an amazing class of ships.
We love RCCL. MDR was great. 150 Central my favorite specialty restaurant.
Love The Yacht Club on MSC - have done it twice. Not sure how we’d like it if we weren’t in The Yacht Club.
I am top-tier status on Princess and I am top tier status on celebrity and I can tell you first-hand that Celebrity Cruise Line far surpasses Princess Cruise Lines in every way. It's very true what they say when you're on board Celebrity Cruise lines you really are treated like a celebrity. Providing you with utmost Detail Service to Excellence. And now with celebrities new ships gorgeous navel luxury architectural design.. while at the same time offering it's guests more options then princess ever could.
We are looking to book a cruise. We've been cruising since 2003, and have cruised on Carnival, Royal, Disney and MSC. We are looking at Celebrity (Equinox or Silhouette), and Princess (Emerald) as a change. Hmmmm. Decisions decisions......
I love Walter (Where's Walter) Thank you for this!
Love them both
I’m a Princess fan. Last cruise on the Ruby the crew, Captain and food in the MDR were great. But I think if I were given a free cruise on either one I would have to go on the Celebrity Beyond just to experience one of the Edge series ships and to meet Captain Kate and Bug. I’ve sailed Celebrity before but my last cruise on one of their ships was not a good experience so I haven’t been back. Princess does vary their itineraries which I like too.
If I was given a free cruise I'd go on any cruise line! Well except Margaritaville at Sea. :) But between Princess and Celebrity, flip a coin and go, you'll have fun either way.
Can't wait to do our virgin cruise in December ❤
Have an amazing time! We're on our second Scarlet Lady cruise in two weeks and then sailing Valiant Lady in November. :)
Princess is my favorite. Been on NCL, RC, MSC and I like the more sophisticated, quieter atmosphere of Princess. Celebrity is about the same, but I have only sailed it once, so can’t give a real opinion on Celebrity.
Carnival is our favorite! But will go on most cruise lines. Princess is at the bottom with NCL. Celebrity over princess
Carnival is my least favorite... it's Royal or Princess for me. I'm disappointed with NCL lately. I want to try Celebrity soon
@@charlenekujawa3119 try Celebrity, we really like it as well as Princess and can’t stand Carnival and gave up on Royal a few years ago.
2 things to point out Tony. #1 food in general is fantastic on each ship-- WHY because they cycle through the food. It's not sitting in the freezer 2 or 3 weeks or refer. #2 Capt Kate is so happy or happier then her male counter parts-- I will say Kate didn't start off in the bilge area.. So naturally she's happy. There is a RCI capt we met (male) that interacted with the passengers just like Kate. You saw him all over the ship. Other Capt.'s are like hiding out.
Captain on allure is funny and personable.
Captain Johnny on Harmony OTS interacts with and is visible to passengers. He’s a hoot.
I've been on holland, ncl, royal Caribbean and princess. Not sure which I would put at the top...I go mostly based off ports though for the price.
Getting ready to do my first Princess. I normally do Celebrity and Royal Caribbean. In May, I did a 12 day Celebrity Cruise and it was just okay, wasn’t what I expected from Celebrity. For the most part the food was just okay and Celebrity customer service has gone done. Looking forward to comparing the two. Thanks or your insight!!! 😊
My wife and I took our teenage daughters on a Celebrity Alaskan cruise for the first time earlier this summer and had a fantastic time. We also booked a Mediterranean cruise on the new Celebrity Ascent next May. We even upgraded two rooms to the Aqua class to celebrate my 60th Birthday/retirement and our daughters graduation. We received a call a few days ago from Celebrity state that our reservation has been canceled due to "high demand for various large groups". We were looking forward to this trip and many more to come on Celebrity but now I don't think we will ever cruise on them again. Now we may become either Princess or NCL loyal cruisers. Obviously not happy about this and not sure which cruise line to go with.
Princess does indeed give great casino offers! I gambled less than $500 and was given some great casino offers like $50 interior for 17 day iceland cruise. I heard Celebrity has amazing food and im a foodie so i would book with them soon.
Celebrity has really good food. The best food at sea right now is Virgin Voyages, but their itineraries are limited with just 2 ships currently running. They'll have 4 by the end of this year so hopefully that starts to improve.
I would so love to sail on Celebrity Beyond with Captain Kate!!!
definitely celebrity for us. 6 booked over the next 2 years.
Have been on both and prefer Princess.
Princess has an awesome Alaska cruises 17 day south to north + loges .
No mention of HAL in this exchange, which I find curious. It beats the rest of them hands down.
Princess and Celebrity are our two favorites. Prior to 1 Jan 2023 Celebrity was our number 1 but they made significant cutbacks. We were on Celebrity in Dec 2022 and then again in Jan and Feb and we could tell the difference in food and entertainment quality as well as the new nickel and dime charges. So now I think Princess is the slight winner.
As a small business owner, I can't imagine what it was like for all the cruise lines to go almost 2 full years with zero income and all those ships to maintain. It doesn't surprise me that something has to give at least in the short term, these first 2 to 5 years as they come back. That being said, the fact that Virgin Voyages has so much included in their cruise fare is a stark difference from everyone else and one reason we enjoy cruising with them. The only big knock is their itineraries are not the most interesting and they are running them all on repeat. But once they have the four ships, I'm hoping they start to mix up their itineraries a bit more.
We normally go on Princess and I have 2 cruises coming up in the next year. My husband will be harvesting in the fall and I’m cruising with my sister in law, her daughter and daughter in law on a New England and Canada cruise on the Caribbean Princess (go figure Caribbean in Canada)😂. In January we are finally going on an Australia New Zealand Cruise tour that was canceled twice because of the pandemic. That is on the Regal Princess.
Princess is our go to line but, if the itinerary is interesting I may look more at Celebrity.
Great video, Tony.
I went in December for my Yearly Cruise with Holland American and was disappointed with the Food and Service. I have going on Both Celebrity and Holland American for over 20 years.
I'm not boujee, I don't need the bells and whistles.. Carnival is just the right fit for us..
My preference is Celebrity over Princess these days. When we cruise with the kids we'll go Royal or Carnival, when my wife and I cruise sans kids, we're definitely going Celebrity or Virgin. There's nothing particularly appealing about Princess to us at the current moment.
