you're a great teacher. You've put so much detail in explaining your process and that is something that other instructors lack.
I have to second that this is among the best for painting instruction. It helps to get someone who apparently has experience in teaching as well as creating. I, and I'm sure many others, appreciate the effort.
Best video I have found so far on painting clouds! I am a complete beginner learning on my own and I was going about it all wrong. Thanks so much for your help and I look forward for more videos from you!
What I like about you Wilson is that you do not limit yourself to one particular painting landscape, but you widen it to animals, seascapes etc..... nice work!!! thanks for posting.
Mr. Bickford. Your videos are more didactics. Your method is clear and perfect. With you I am learning to paint and learning English too. I appreciated your videos.
Cordial greetings from Colombia.
You are a very good teacher and I've learned a LOT from you! Thank you Mr. Wilson Bickford!
just wanted to say thanks. When i started oil painting your videos were a great help when i was stuck with something. This was the first video i watched of yours.
This was excellent. The smallest things can be daunting but you put it in a simple perspective.
Hi Wilson. Thanks for making these videos available. I'm trying to improve my oil painting skills, and I believe these videos have helped. Much appreciated!
all of your lessons are terrific Wilson....just cant "choose" a favorite!
Had so much trouble painting clouds until I saw your teaching on this method. Now my clouds are just, well.... fabulous!!!!! Thank you for your wisdom and expertise on this subject, you have no idea how this has helped my painting style. You sir,, are truly amazing. Thank you.
Hi Wilson
You are really a great teacher. I have just started this hobby and you are my "GURU"! THANK YOU
Shobha
I'm painting a WWII airplane mural and decided to look up "painting clouds". So glad I ran across this. The yellow/purple additives is something I never considered. Thanks so much for making this video available to painters in all areas!
Wow! Wonders of a hobby! It's brilliant and I finally got to get acquainted with cloud painting technique
Holy cow! I'm so glad I ran across your channel! I've always had a difficult time with stormy clouds, and trying to get the brightness of the white to shine. You're the only instructor that demonstrated in a way I could really grasp the concept. Thank you for sharing!
I am mostly a digital painter but oil painting stuff like this amazes me. I have been watching a few of your videos and I noticed that you use the same "lango" that us digital painters use which is pretty cool. Anyways keep it up you are inspiring me to start these types of work.
dude, u don't have to block comments. you are very informative and high brow. much respect! i totally love your old school style. the crucifiction painting is right on, nice and tight
Wonderful tutorial on cloud painting. You make it look so easy. Excellent. Thank you.
thank you for your instructions! i've viewed some other art lessons and they are mostly strange and not very helpful. I'm sure they are all very good at their art, but they don't know how to teach in simple and quick ways. May the Lord bless you in your work and in helping others in simple and practical ways! I did one painting with your instruction and was surprised at how well it turned out and did not take a lot of time! thank you for your time and talent!
Wow! I wish more people could teach stuff like this guy!
man ur so natural, i worked 10 hours to get that sky through paints, and u did in a couple of minutes
Mr Bickford, You are a master of oil painting, I think you are a great teacher also. Please keep up the great videos.
Toxic Barracuda.
It's great that people are out there to help the way that you do, tnx
Hi Wilson, thanks for the tips. I'm a beginner and currently working on a cloud painting. Your lesson will help. Thanks again.
A great video. I love to paint and have always been a huge Bob Ross fan. Great work continuing the Bob legacy of painting tutorials. Excellent work and easy to understand. Thanks so much.
You make this look so easy! The big thing I have to practice with this lesson is the wrist movement.
thanks so much my friend Wilson I really appreciated all your efforts to teach ART to your students. You are really a great ART Teacher...and you wake up again my will to paint one more...it wasn't easy. I really enjoyed all your videos and I will follow them in future.greets from ITALY....BARI.
This was really helpful. I had been looking for a good cloud lesson for a while. You're very good with instruction. Thanks.
wow thanks... i found this video very helpful in a few degrees. first, it was extremely helpful in terms of the techniques and styles, but also you gave me some good reasoning to take with me to other paintings. ex. the sky is lighter at the horizon, clouds fade on the bottom, highlights hit on only certain sides of a cloud, purple and yellow appear in clouds...
to summarize: thanks!
This is truly amazing. I've not painted since primary school but have been thinking about trying it again. This video was amazing and inspiring. I hope to start soon and will be sure to check your other videos. Thanks again.... and please keep posting :)
Какие же все таки отличные уроки от Вилсона. Спасибо огромное!!!
Hi,
I've found your nice and instructive videos while searching UA-cam for landscape paintings and I wanted to thank you very much for your investment in learning the methods.
I enjoy and learn a lot from the way you draw.
Thank you and good luck .
Iris,
Israel.
Great Stuff, Wilson - a logical no-nonsense technique - effective and time-efficient allowing additional high and low-lights
if desired. Congrats and Thanks!
I'm particularly pleased with this video. Definitely something I'd look to if I started painting. :)
Bullseye . . . 9 minutes of problem solving brilliance . . . .thanks, Wilson . . . great stuff!
Yes! Very good, you've answered all my questions on cloud panting.
Thank you.
Brilliant lesson. Im a beginner, my next painting i will definatly follow these steps thanks very much
soooo good! I could hate you for how you make it look so simple! :D
I want to use Georgian for wet on wet because it's cheap and you get a lot of paint, but I was afraid to use it because I figured I wouldn't get great results with it. I see now they give great results with your amazing paintings.
Thank you, your video has helped me so much, as a person just starting to paint, this is a fabulous lesson.
Great painting, so pretty, nice instruction.
Awesome lesson, as always, Mr. Bickford!
Very awesome!! Love that demonstration, turned out so pretty.
That was super helpful, thanks Mr. Bickford!
Hi, I like watching the lesson, I live in Brazil and your tips are very good..
tks
Pedro
Thank you for your prompt reply! I think I did the third one but I will keep trying until I do it right. Like you said, "Practice Make Perfect"
I am glad I have found this video!!! :)) really good teaching technics
This is a fantastic Tutorial. Thank you so much for your painting lessons!
My painting teacher is great at providing feedback during critiques and while observing us; but he didnt tell us "how" to actually make our clouds or landscapes. For a beginning painting class it feels necessary to learn these basic techniques.
tl;dr
Thank you so much! You're awesome
This lesson was great. I used these clouds on the *Barn painting.
Thank you for generously sharing your techniques! I will look for your book. :)
Hello, Mr. Wilson
I'm a high school student from Thailand
and I've just started learning oil painting ... kind of self-studying.
I really love this making cloud tutorial.
It's very helpful and I'd try to make one too, hopefully.
If it's possible, would you mind to make a tutorial of how to paint a koi using oil paints please
That's amazing! My junior year in high school I'm taking a painting class and this cloud tip will help me a lot. My first oil painting I did had just white shapes for clouds that looked unrealistic. (:
That's great job Wilson, you should do a video about "Mist" like in mountain mist etc.
thank you :) im working on a painting right now, and the clouds are something im constantly strugeling with. i may be able to finish now! :D
Thanks for the help! I'm in the process of a surrealistic-style painting where I'm using clouds and I just couldn't get them to look, well, like clouds. This really helps!
you're a talent artist who can explain thoroughly!! I have a photos of an aerial view of a CLOUD OCEAN with a blue sky at the top, like..look out from the plane, the Cloud Ocean is way way down below, light is from 8 o'clock. I had tried to paint with oil at least 50 time still can not achieve :( PLEASE...PLEASE teach us paint from an aerial view! Really thanks in advance!!Admire your paintings very much & all the best to you,Damon(Hong Kong)
Great painting, you give good instruction.
i really like ur style.......... u r great painter, thanks for the tips...
Thank you...what a wonderful lesson. The information was extremely useful!!! Again, thanks.
thanks so much!! its such a great help...i really wanted to learn how to paint...problem is...i dont have any close buddy who's into the same interest...at least..this helps a great deal! keep it up...and thanks for sharing your talent...
you made it look so easy wil def try it thanks a gazillion!
great! that made me want to pick up oil painting again, you made it look so easy!
Wonderful lesson for a wonderful clouds's painting! Thank you sir!
Everybody has a own style. Painting the same object over and over again is ok. It always evolves. That does not make the person who paints that a less "true artist" than you are. It's so important to choose words wisely and not forget that all art is good and that all art is true. Technique and knowledge make some artists brilliant and others blind. Have a good day.
here mar from portugal. the internet is fantastic you are fantastic. thank you so muck
That looks really good! Great work!
Thank you for the help, I greatly appreciate it. I'm actually repainting the American Gothic by Grant Wood for my art class, and the way he did the skin tones is quite interested. Your tip definitly gives me an idea on where to start.
ohhh thanks sooo much! you are way more useful than my jerk of an oilpainting teacher in college was six years ago lol. great stuff! :)
This was a great instructional video! You're obviously very talented! I can't wait to see what else you have on here!!
wow it was more than valuable

Ur lessons are simple and easy. How lucky are your students to have a teacher like you!!!!
Great teacher.... Can u show how to make portraits with acrylic paint? And pls teach us how to give shading?
Wilson, I am a beginner in acrylic painting and I just want to know how many types of brushes are there?
Again simple and accurate...respect to a gr8 teacher
thank you so much! Explaining all of this to a new painter is so helpful; Ie: Bigger clouds to the top...etc...
thanks
I really enjoyed this video! I have problems with my clouds! Thanks Willie!
You're a really great teacher. Thanks!
I am assuming that this same technique can be used with acrylic??

Hello Mr.Wilson, I'm Menna Zean from Facebook, I just want to tell you that I really don't know how to thank you for teaching me how to paint, cause really when I paint & I finish my painting I feel that feeling that I really could do something great!! :-)))
I want to ask for your advise about acrylic colours?? do you think I can use them to paint the same painting you teach us?? or do you prefer oil more??
& by the way, Mom & Dad was going crazy when I show the my first oil painting (sunset) :)
Excellent.. I Cant wait to try it ..!!

Lovely work!
I have found a great teacher in you tyvm.
Thank u ...I have become a great fan of u.
Good one, Wilson.
i learn a lot in this video! thank you
I think it's great that you share these things. Anything that gets the arts into the hands of more people is alright by me.
I have a question for you: Why did you choose to make your gray with black and white then add purple, rather than just graying back the purple with yellow? Is there a specific reason, or is it just a personal preference thing?
"Magic white" o tambien conosido como "liquid white" es una base para mesclar mejor las diferentes capas de pintura cuando estas pintantdo con base de aceite. es como un secreto que te alluda ha mesclar los colores mucho mejor. Suerte
omg this has been so incredibly helpful.
thank you for giving us the opportiunity to learn from you, will be possible for you to give us a tip in how you paint the illusion of fog in your landscape paintings
Hello sir, I loved your video painting very ,very nice, it's amazing....
Thank you for sharing. This will come in very useful :)
Thanks! You really help me... I've allways had troubles with the clouds
Thank you very much! i will start all over again my venice painting your clouds r beautiful! isabelle
Thanks you very muchyou can't imagine how helpful this was to me. I'm actually going to paint on canvas for the first time, and my plan was copying a picture I took on a cloudy day. I was quite discouraged about painting that scenery though because the clouds I usually paint never look that realistic. This video definitely showed me what I was doing wrong. Do you have any tips on realistic shades of skin?
I realy like'd the viedo and learning from it. Thanks again. Arthur
You are amazing!Thank you for this lesson!
