10 Reasons Why Wear OS is BETTER Than Fitbit & Garmin (as an Android user)

  • I really think Wear OS (especially when coupled with Ticwatch Pro 3) is making a triumphant comeback for many reasons. Good video. Well produced and informative. Mobvoi should pay you for this one because it makes me want to run out and get the watch. You hit on one very important issue with smartwatches that I am running into as I get older....reading the damn display. A refined smart assistant experience is a necessity.

    I too have the TicWatch Pro 3 since its release in October 2020. Loving the watch, cannot recommend it enough. For me Wear OS + Bubble Clouds (!!!) makes an amazing wearable experience! Got a question. I have the Ticwatch Pro 4G. It has the SD2100 and 1 GB of ram, so honestly no really that different in performance with the Ticwatch Pro 3. THe one feature that I really want is sleep tracking on essential mode, this will practically double the battery of my watch because I would activate essential mode before going to bed. According to Mobvoi the feature it's only available on the ticwatch pro 3 and the ticwatch pro s (Which has the same hardware specs of the ticwatch pro 4g), the version of ticsleep that has sleep tracking on essential mode is 2.0, all the other ticwatch pro variants have version 1.9. So, my question is, if I install via apk the version 2.0, my ticwatch pro 4g will gain sleep tracking on essential mode?. I'm kind of hopeful because according to Mobvoi sleep tracking is only available for Ticwatch Pro and Pro 3 variants, but if you go and install it on other ticwatch watches running wear os (Such as e2, c2 etc) it actually works.

    Actually got a ticwatch pro 3 recently and it is my first smartwatch. I researched a bit on the different watches. Even tried out a few before hand. What won me on wear os was being able to truly reply on messages instead of quick or pre canned replies. I found samsung health's health stuff a lot better than ticwatch or Google fit, but I can't imagine being unable to reply back. You bring up some points that I didn't even think of. Especially the bus schedule thing. Yes, it's on my phone, but there are times I don't even bother checking, because I don't want to bother fumbling around with my phone, or my hands are just full. I really like the Ticwatch Pro 3 GPS, but as a Galaxy S21 Ultra user, I'm sort of waiting to see what Samsung and it's new Galaxy Watch 4 Classic has on the table with Wear OS 3 after it's officially available. That being said, I did not care for the Galaxy Watch 3 AT ALL. I had one for about 3 months and sold it. I really like the new Garmin Venu 2 and the Fitbit Sense also, for their health analytics. Anyway, great video! I'm surprised that I haven't come across any other content until now and I'm always in the market for a new gadget that I can wear on my wrist and always looking for smartwatch reviews. On that note, I'm subscribed now. Hopefully you will show up in my search results more often now. It really says a lot for the Ticwatch, since you bought your own and have hands on experience with so many different watches.

    Personal preferences obviously are important. I need a fitness focused watch with notifications support and so Garmin watches are my go to. Yep the sleep tracking on Garmin is not the greatest but that's not a focus for me. And I love seeing my detailed fitness data in the app and on my computer screen so again Garmin satisfies those needs in a big way. While I agree the battery life isn't as strong, you have to consider the feature set of a Wear OS watch, such as speaker, voice assistant, bright hi-res AMOLED display, a rich app ecosystem, etc. I don't mind charging every 3 days, it has gotten a lot better.

      Have you even watched the video? 3 days of battery life on the TicWatch Pro 3. Many other Wear OS watches are garbage, but it's not the OS's fault. Unfortunately 90% of the known Wear OS watches are made by Fossil. They are garbage indeed. But Fossil is a fashion brand, what do you expect???

    • @gerGoPrint3D
      @gerGoPrint3D 3 роки тому

      @@RajR96 Most Android phones have bigger batteries than iPhones. That doesn't mean anything. Android is so much more capable than iOS, that it needs more battery power. If iPhones were able to do the things Android phones can they would need bigger batteries too.
      The same goes for Wear OS vs Watch OS. Wear OS is an infinitely more capable operating system than any other wearable system. Fossil just made a poor design decision and put half the size of the battery in the watch. The TicWatch Pro 3 is actually as thin, or even thinner than the Fossil Gen3 based watches, and they were able to accommodate an almost 600mAH battery, while Fossil only includes a 300 something battery.

    3 questions please:
    1- how is it in water? did you swim with it?
    2- How is Google Maps on it? can I set the destination on the phone and the watch will track it - showing the maps and telling the turn to turn instruction)?
    3- is it possible to answer calls from the watch and yet the sound will be directed to the headset which is connected to my phone? (so the phone is connected to both the watch and the headset, and I receive the notification on the watch, answer from the watch and hear/speak from the headset).
    Thank you in advance

    If fitness is your priority, I would very easily take the Garmin Venu 2 over this (actually, I did.) Aside from the Garmin device itself (which is great) the metrics and richness of the Garmin ecosystem and website make it a no brainer. Consider this- Garmin sells some smartwatches that cost $1,500. You get access to the same website and app. They clearly made huge investments in this area- and it shows. It has exceeded my expectations. Also in a month, my Venu 2 has not had a single issue connecting. It's rock solid. It plays music too! It also comes with free access to 3 running coaches and programs!

    I always wanted to own a Wear OS watch since I use Android phones but what's holding me back are the prices of the watches and the short battery life... Maybe I will buy them someday when the hardware and battery life get better at a cheaper price and Google makes more improvements for Wear OS. As for now, I own a cheap Chinese smartwatch and an Honor smartband, lol. I'm quite happy with the smartband since it has the same functionality as the Chinese smartwatch... I believe the only advantage to owning a smartwatch is to have one with a system like Wear OS or Apple Watch. How many notifications can Wear OS receive though? Is it unlimited? Like proprietary OS smartwatches, usually, they can only receive between 5-10 notifications.
