The main battery drainer is the heart rate reader. Have to turn it to manual only or when you're working out. I dont see why people need this to run 24/7

Just sucks because some ppl are accustomed to Continous heart rate monitoring from Garmin and Fitbit for more accurate information like calories, body battery, stress, etc.

@@JSyntax 90% of the population doenst need that. If they do then they should get a garmin or just get used to less battery life. It's a smart watch thats continuously doing a lot more than heart rate monitoring

Thank you for this amazing review. Great insights! I was almost going to buy it until I saw your review. As I do not have a Samsung phone and all the bells and whistles seem to be a bit off I went for a Garmin Venu 2. It looks like even tho it has much fewer features what it measures it does it accurately.

I love my Samsung watch 4 44 mm . The review seems to be biased as even Garmin can't smoothly record your gym activity. Garmin owner since 2 years and I use both: one for running and the other as a smartwatch.

I think I need to rectify some of the things mentioned here, but first: thanks for the review.
    Galaxy Watch 4 Classic 46mm LTE .
As for non Samsung users lacking, I disagree.
I have a OnePlus phone, and I dont miss out at all. Don't understand, why you can't send messages via Bixby, works like a charm for me. No problems at all to be honest.
As for the 2 missing health features (ECG and Body Composure, I admit that I went for the workaround (to be found on the internet) - works like a charm also.
    As for battery life:
I am always monitoring the battery left, like an idiot.
I charge it sometimes in the evening, sometimes in the morning, sometimes in between. I am not a heavy user though, I find playing games on your wrist, let's say "uncomfortable". I do have smartphone, ya know.
I mostly have AOD off, heart rate and spo2 always on, also sleep monitoring (without snoring detection), and as for notifications, I do not want to get disturbed for everything, so only different messenger apps and some other apps.
I basically never go below 50%, telling me that I can go a full day and more without charging easily.
I have to add though, I do not use Google maps as standalone, and the most battery drain for me comes from listening to Spotify (on the phone, not as standalone again, still draining as it is always connected).
I know though, that when I go out without my phone, the LTE will drain the battery in around 6 hours, depending on what you do with the watch.
I upgraded from Gear S2, and man, I could not be happier. Very satisfied to be honest.
My main complaint is, that there if not enough apps yet. Useful ones at least.
I want to be able to control my smart home, hence Google Assistant is key. A native Hue app is not there (yet).
The walkie-talkie app is not compatible(yet, at least in Germany).
As for someone who is looking for a wear os watch, this will be the one for about a year. If you can wait, wait. If you want a watch now, I do recommend it, even though I don't really like Samsung tbh.
Anyways, just giving a different perspective.
    Cheers.

I usually go hiking, I'm worried about battery. Does the battery last the entire day? Controlling the hiking activity. I won't be connected trough bluetooth that moment.

    • @AndyLuft
      @AndyLuft 2 роки тому +1

      @@guidoc3518 Hi.
I get over a day out of the watch with AOD (Pixel Watchface), Heart Monitoring (always), sleep monitoring, raise to wake, LTE and BT on.
I do not play around with the watch that much though.
Main driver for battery consumption aside from the display is Spotify, as it will always have the app running in the background, even when you stream on a home device.
If you turn off some of the features, like always on display, raise to wake and do heart rate monitoring manually, you should get well over a day.
But make no mistake: this is not a watch, which get your more than 2 days whatsoever. It will not last a weekend, even with everything turned down. Watch only node excluded, which makes this "smart" watch dumb.
Also, if GPS is running, which I assume you want for hiking, I would choose to have a battery pack handy. I don't think Bluetooth will make that much of a difference, but tracking apps will.
      Cheers

I'm about to try this watch out, but MAN.. The crappy battery life is the one thing that I think will have me sending it back for a refund.. I mean, you buy these things for their features to be used but having those features on kills battery life.. If you have to charge the thing every night how are you going to even use the sleep tracker? Google Assistant would be amazing, but it'll drain even more battery... lol Whoop has it right with their wireless charger, so you never have to take the tracker off.. Not sure how that could be integrated into a faced watch, but maybe useful while you sleep since you won't be looking at your watch screen while sleeping..

The charging complaint is what they call first world problems & in my opinion, not that big of a deal. Apple Watch needs to be charged daily too. I was able to trade my SW3 for the SW4 44MM and paid $65. For me it was a no brainer. I bought the Venu 2, but for $399, definitely not worth it. Clearly the Venu is light years ahead from a fitness standpoint but with no speaker on the Garmin and minimal smartwatch features, I'm all in on the SW4. Think it'll just get better as time go on.

Thanks for your your great review.
I am planning to buy GW 4 classic 46mm and i will use it as follows:
    1. AOD will be off so when i raises my hand then i can see the watch.
    2. Just receive notification for whatsapp, emails without reading them and SMS.
    3. Just accept or reject the calls .
    4. One or two times to measure heart rate and spo2.
    5. Use normal face unanimated.
    6. Intensity automatically.
    7. Just connected to wifi.
    8. Remove it before sleep.
In this case do you think i will get three days?

You should review the sleep function. The sleep app on the Samsung galaxy watch 4 is complete rubbish. I may be busy on my phone for 2 hours in the night or in the morning and during this time not only will it claim i was asleep but even that I was in deep sleep. Totally unreliable. The rest is ok but this alone make me regret I didn't wait for the Garmin fossil 6 instead.

Comparing Galaxy4 classic 46mm LT to Galaxy3 45mm .... new watch has worse battery life (with LTE not active) 2 days instead of 3 days, and original belt loops are too large - they move away and do not keep the belt closed. I had to re-design them and print new ones from TPU. Google Pay works well - and this is the only reason for me to upgrade in fact. I hope the FW updates improve the battery life, but it is a shame that such premium watch has no chances to survive weekend trip without charge. I am still looking for the next version which will include camera - as in the original Galaxy Watch (first generation). Not enough digital faces! those included are for children probably - uninformative, "fancy" without enough content.
