You are correct! I didn't sand the riser. The finish that comes on the Satori is very durable and has a texture to it, so I didn't feel the need to sand the riser down. So far so good. It's been painted for a couple of years now of hard use, and I've had no issues with the paint job. Good luck on your project.
You can get get camo Satori risers to match their camo limbs directly from Hoyt, I have 2 of them in Realtree edge.
