But no, I love this zone. And I love this song. I mean, this zone is a serious bitch, but it's kind of a cool bitch; unlike Sandopolis Act 2, which is like.... actually a game ruining kind of bitch.
This music fits the ambience of the level perfectly. It says: Things are being built here! You are trespassing! I agree with everyone else, those enemies were ridiculous. But this was the epicenter of amazing gaming back then, and even now. EVERYONE had Sonic 2, and now, EVERYONE remembers and respects it, as well they should. This music is so great, now that I don't have to worry about enemies. :)
If it weren't for that damn Tails always flipping out on the edge of the spinning nut, I'd be able to sneak right by the Asterons, and not have them explode.
Mantises are the worst... at least you can see blowing stars coming before they detonate so you have time to avoid them. Mantises attack the second they are on the screen so you need Dark Souls-esque reflexes and paranoia to avoid them. Some of them are even placed over large cliffs. I will admit those starfishes do not stop and are in many annoying areas!
sonic 1: scrap brain zone (the level itself, especially act 3) sonic 2: metropolis zone (fucking slicers) sonic 3: carnival night zone (yeah, you know why) so many traumas in this games
+The Scarecrow ikr, i didnt figure out till i was a teenager u had to move up and down on the barrels, when i was a kid i ended my playthroughs at carnival night lmaooo
Sega really had amazing music. Sonic, Toejam & Earl, Streets of Rage 2, even the stuff that was also released on SNES; if you played both versions, you knew the music on the Sega version was probably going to be superior.

I really loved these stages, even more the last part of the stage 2 i guess, where u can infintely fall down and get coins, you could do it so fast that you disappear from the screen (bottom of it) lol. this zone, the hill top one and the previous one of metropolis were my favorite ones.
I still have this game on the sega genesis. There is nothing more rage inducing than these three things: 1) The Death Egg zone. Goodness gracious, I cannot do this level without rings! 2) The boss of the Winged Fortress. Freaking jerkwad!! 3) The dog/random people running in and kicking/tripping over cords. It either freezes up or shuts down all together. While on this level, it always seems to happen.
I remember as a kid playing this & my mam would come into my room demanding that I turn the music down as it was annoying her... fast forward 20 years and I'm the one going downstairs into the living room & asking her to do the same as she has the X Factor / The Voice blasting throughout the house. I think it was due to Hidden Palace Zone being scrapped late in the game's production, so an extra act was slapped on Metropolis zone...because we all wanted that lol.
