@@funnypantshd150 it's a great tune to throw in once and a while but it was never a hit for a reason. 52nd Street had 4 singles and this wasn't one of them to promote that album. It's a great trumpet solo to hear once, but for big fans who go to multiple shows, he's got too many other "bangers" to keep banging away with that.

I was there with my son, all the way from Germany just to see Billy live. So proud to have a son listen to this great music.

This is the most recent Billy's live performance I've found. And I'm so excited to watch it as I'm going to his only one night Tokyo concert in Japan in two weeks! I'm going to watch it again and again to be ready for his performance which has been 16 years since his last tour in Japan. Thank you SOOO much for uploading this live performance.

I was fortunate to see double headline Sir Elton John and Billy Joel perform together 20 years ago at San Jose Sharks Arena in California. Thanks Sir Elton John for helping Billy Joel with his sobriety.
I didn't see them as a double headline but I did see Billy in Birmingham (UK) on his birthday. Elton John came on as a surprise guest to sing him Happy Birthday, along with a couple of other songs.

On the studio recording of "The Longest Time," it was Billy Joel himself who sang the lead vocals along with each of the harmonies that were dubbed over and over to form what became the barbershop harmonies with the Frankie Valli-style lead on the track. That was then perfected by The Piano Man's producer and sound mixer on the 1983 album "An Innocent Man" into the masterpiece it is today.

Saw Elton 8n 2015, he sounded like a dying warthog then. Glad he's retired.
@@Clodhoppingyea it’s hard listening to his lower voice. He used to come through my city about every other year or every 3rd year and he went from sounding great around 1999/2000 to sounding awful in just a couple years. I think he consciously did it to preserve his voice bc I heard him reference that around that time on Oprah’s tv show but it was a mistake. I did see him a couple times at big shows where he went for broke & sung in his natural voice and it sounded great. I think he tried doing that at the White House earlier this year but it didn’t come off bc of his age. I haven’t seen him in almost 10 years bc I’m not going to pay to go see him sing in that voice especially when his tickets are outrageously expensive. Earlier this year prices for his tix in my hometown were around 4 grand for crap seats & 10k at the front. You’d have to be nuts to pay that. I hope he really does quit and stops acting like KISS looking for every penny he can get his hands on. Elton & KISS both have the money sickness where it’s never enough.
As good as this is , i feel a lot of the atmosphere is lost with the daylight, i felt the same about Manchester and Wembley but they were still fantastic shows. Going to New York in February 2024 to see him, cant wait! 🎹 🎶

Saw him at COTA, f1 race two years ago. Didn't expect too much of it, but was amazing. Almost as good as the race itself lol.

Wow, that's a very good memory. So Liberty Devitto had already left BJ's band? I saw an interview where LD said they had a "falling out" and didn't speak for about 15 years, but have since mended the relationship. Thanks for the info!

What is it with European concert crowds and the hands up high clapping on every half note? Not being mean... I'm genuinely curious. It wasn't that bad in this concert but watch a rock concert... hands in the air, in unison, every half note or beat. Hope everyone there enjoyed the show. We'll never see another like Billy Joel.

Imagine paying £200 for the golden circle and you're stood behind someone who films the entire thing blocking your view with their phone. Mate next time you go to a gig try enjoying being in the moment instead of being stuck in your phone. Disgraceful.
I was in a pretty good spot to be honest i love every single moment of that show and the people who were behind me were very tall people and I did ask everyone around me if it was alright to film because my partner couldn’t make it and they said no worries you should feel sorry for me for the guy in the hat that was in front of me hahah

Actually as a member of the audience, this is not how it sounds as BJ is blasting through the speakers and you don’t really hear people singing that loudly. All picked up by the phone of the person next to him
