He is trying to "win" something related to his father. But ultimately he just wants his freedom. Basically his dad believes that his experimental method of teaching is the best way for a human being to be brought up, and Ayanokoji wants to prove it isn't. If someone can beat him when he's trying his best, then that'll prove his father wrong. Some of this stuff is way further into the novel, but effectively, he is trying to build up all the classes, especially class D (one of his plans is to swap classes for example and face Class D directly), into being their strongest, so he can go against themself himself and try his best to beat them. If he wins, his father is right, but if he loses then his father is wrong.
