Definitely the best explanation of this that I've seen.
Anyone else feeling like a toddler in the ‘why’ stage , just looking up how loads of things work
This is my personal education ever since the Corona virus 😂
Relax. Searching for knowledge should never be ashamed of. I've been doing like this for years
Most important question
Me
I'm 23
If you can't explain it simple enough, you dont understand it enough, The tutorial is precise and straight to the point, admire the background effort and information to make this simple
I'm a college instructor and I would love to use your videos in my intro to photography course, but I can only use videos that have captions. I know it might be extra work, but there's a huge audience that could benefit from captions on your videos! Thanks!
This was one of the best basic instructional videos that I have seen addressing this! Great work guys!

@Jay Malone Appreciate Video clip! Forgive me for the intrusion, I am interested in your thoughts. Have you heard the talk about - Riddleagan Create Memories Remedy (erm, check it on google should be there)? It is a great one off product for mastering dslr camera and creating stunning photos minus the normal expense. Ive heard some great things about it and my GF finally got excellent results with it.
This was the one of best explanation I heard. I really appreciate this!
This is so helpful. I am in. Photography class and seriously the terms were not going down well with me till I watched this. Everything has been well explained at the level which I need it.
Indeed nice explanation.
The best explanation ever!! 🔥
Definitely the best explanation of this that I've ever seen !
Thank you for sharing this video. Very educationally informative. . . . . . . .
Awesome explanation
Wow, great video. Short, sweet, and informative
That was probably the most informative video I have watched on photography since starting my journey probably 6 months ago... Probably about to go buy that course because of this video alone
Not for photography,it was very useful for my school lessons :D
At some point, the mirror traveling back and forth will reach its physical limitation, at 14 fps, dslr is reaching this limitation, in the future, electronic shutter will be able to boost to 1/120000, it now can support 1/32000 on sony a9.
Hello from the future. The concept you're referring to is mirrorless cameras i assume
That was SO helpful, THANK YOU! I’ve been watching beginner tutorials on photography through UA-cam and skillshare and most people use photography terms which is all just jargon to me at the moment. Knowing the process has helped hugely
@SW, I am just a BEGINNER too, and already spent a week learning about my recently-bought Canon 80D, that hasn't arrived yet. DSLR cameras are so amazing because all the functions, and advanced technology that go into just one simple photo! I am SO anxious to get started, but I want to be ready when my camera arrives in the mail, which brings me here.
very informative,
Lee is so photogenic
Thanks for this, very educational
A really nice and understandable video, thank you so much
Very helpful, thank you!
That's so cool! The dslr is like a kaleidoscope
Really help me understand DSLR cameras
hi, where is the convergence point of light, within the lens, or on the sensor? thank you.
Great Work. Love your channel and I am enjoying the 30 day video challenge. PLEASE, do more videos.
fantastic!
A camera job is to use light. The image sensor uses so much light to make a image. The lens uses light to the camera through the view finder. That's how a camera works
THANKS! greets from Poland!
very helpful video, thanks!
Do they use Schmidt-Pechan prisms (oriented differently for the 90 degree bend, obviously) for the viewfinder like some roof prism binoculars or something else?
The light path illustration made me think of them.
Wow, that is so clear. If i was in court, there'd be no further questions, "your honor" 😄
Great Video Guys. I would however had included the part showing the shutter leaves resetting to their original position.
Whats Ashton Kutcher doing in this video?
Super helpful! Thanks a mil!
Thank you so much to make this video because this is very helpful to me to understand the process.
good thing !
yeah simple but effective presentation
Awesome, thanks

One day I'll be able to make one
Superb explanation. One of the most basic & informational videos I have seen on UA-cam. Simple graphics, simple explanation creates a concise & effective tutorial video. Great work
Thank you for the explanation. 👍🏽

Great explanation, thanks a lot! This made me understand it.
Super video! I applauded for $5.00 👏👏
Well i learned what i needed thanks
Really great
Wow good info thanks
Amazing thanks
love this explanation 👍
amazing video
Thanks for giving information about camera
newbie here and this helped allot thanks.
Focus and Zoom seems to be the same thing, moving the lenses. But they are independent. Can someone explain please?
Very informative bro.
Thanks👍
thanks for this knowledge
nice. thanks.
Man the internet is amazing
Best explanation....
Good
The lesser the apperture the more focus on subject. The higher apperture the more detailed background.
I think I should buy the full course. This video was really informative and interesting
2:00 it sounds as if you are saying that stopping down a lens narrows it's field of view. That is incorrect. The lens still receives light from all directions commensurate with the focal length with a higher percentage blocked by the smaller aperture but the smaller amount of rays going through the aperture still coming from all directions as with a larger aperure.
how we see the image ar camera screen before taking pic if the sensor is closed at all time ?
Really good Brother I like Your Video Tutorial and i recommand who want to khow how dslr work to watch this video Thanks You
Nicely explained, great anymation.
I can use the screen to view the scene instead of OVF in a DSLR, so it also works like a mirrorless right ?
*Worked
is that possible to capture video?
super,very useful for beginners
Damn. This made my day!
Hello.. I loved this video.. I am a dentist, and I teach dental photography, may I use this video on my courses? (I will give your credits of course)
Yaaa this is not very but helpfull for me but l have doubt . How the chemara catch the photo and what is the colourful think in side the chemara and which chemical we use to make this colourfull thinks and what happen when ligh collide with this colourfull thinks so please make a full video for this topic so that all my doubt is clear
I will wate for this
I used to think that the mirror WAS the shutter haha
You need to revisit your textbook (remember those) before explaining the relationship between aperture and depth of field.
Smaller aperture = larger depth of field ; Larger aperture = smaller depth of field.
Damn good
Nice. I had no idea was DSLR stood for. But isn't it kind of misleading saying 'single lens' when as you turned, it's multiple lenses interacting? Or does lens just mean the telephoto lens on the front?
A single lens that has multiple elements inside it. Also it is SLR to distinguish from TLR cameras.
Great video... Are you sure 10megapixel equals to 10million pixels on the entire chip? As far as i remember, it is something about per inch or something like that, but i might be wrong...
You are wrong.
👌👌👌👌👌
greatt great great
I was hoping for more in depth info but still it was a nice video going over the basics
What do camera’s do
My DSLR leaves the top half of the picture black/dark. What is broken?
3:25
3:50
2:40
2:53
vry nice
कॅमेरा लेन्स पर 3 : 5-- 5:6 ; 18--55 यह
क्या लिखा होता है. वह कैसे और कहांसे आता है.
Then, How can a camera take a video while looking through the lens, doesn't the mirror go out of the way while taking pictures?
You can't use the viewfinder while recording video, the mirror gets out of the way and you have to use Liveview
👍
👍👍👍
Why you use lipstick?
This video misses important info. i want to see sensor and how it record color
Now I know why I have not and will not visit fstoppers.com for "professional advice" when a simple and correct explanation of aperture cannot be made.
supper
HOW TO VIDEO WORK IN DSLR . I HAVENT FIND IT
Many DSLR's have different ways of recording video, some older models may not even have that functionality. Just search up "How to shoot video on the (your camera model"
