You are so sweet Jeff. The string with the squirrels and birds reminds me of Cinderella where the animals decorated her dress. The planter bed you did is stunning!
Ugh ! I love you !! I have needed you in my plant life for SO LONG ! Haha, I was beginning to really give up on UA-cam being able to bring the fun part of plant love out anymore .. and here you are !!! You have made my Monday for sure, and I know I will celebrate many more if you keep pumping them out !!!
Looks fantastic Jeff! 🤩 You have such a natural eye for color, contrast & texture. You are truly an artist! I love seeing what you create. I also really enjoy watching you do it! Thanks so much for being you! 😁
I finished my whole cup of tea! Ahhhhhh! Good things moving & a shaking! The colors of all of your plants are outstanding! I am so excited for all to come & get situated in the soil! :) Your backyard is fab! Happy Birthday! WooHoo!!! Have a great week!

That's weird, they usually look great at the nurseries. Wonder what they did to them? Maybe they just have been in their nursery containers too long, that happens sometimes.
Very rough! The weather has just been all over the place, really since late October last year. But, it's nice enough to be outside, even if I get a little wet from the rain, ill take it! 😂🤣
Jeff you are gonna laugh at me I gave my wheelbarrow away and got a lil radio flyer wagon at a secondhand store. I love my little red wagon dents and all. I could not manage the wheelbarrow the wagon works just fine it's one of my favorite garden tools along with that little kids rake! Your birds are hilarious and yes they are yours by default.
We used my mom's amd aunt's little red wagon when they were little to help do yard work (hauling rock) xD❤. My brother and I played with it too when we were little.
I had forgotten that I also used to my childhood wagon for gardening when I was a teenager and in my younger 20s. It broke and it never occurred to me to replace it. .. but I also remember having to hunch down to pull it from the handle. ... got too tall for my radio flyer in my adult years😅😆
OMG I thought I was all over the place, but hands down, your weather out there has me beat!! Hail!! In May!! EEK! I can't get enough of those Cordeline Marias!! All the vibrant color splashes in that area are so fun! Super handy also with that bday gift - gorilla cart!
The weather here is extremely unpredictable, forecast change so much there almost isn't even a point in looking at them lately. That's the fun of living in the middle of the country, get the weather from all directions. The marias are so pretty, i love them too!
Hi Jeff! This was another fun video! I know I say that a lot, but it is so true! That string, oh my golly! That had me laughing. Crazy little critters do such crazy things! I'm glad they didn't get hurt and your plants were ok. Your grackles sound like our starlings. They get into other nests and destroy the eggs and sometimes kill the babies. I hate that! We have boxed in lights on the covered part of the deck that the sparrows have decided to build nests in. A few weeks ago I found 4 dead babies on the uncovered deck. I'm pretty sure a starling did that because I can't imagine the sparrows doing that to their own babies. It was sad. It's always good seeing Toby, Pumpkin, Colby and Tucker. Colby wanting outside was too cute! Does she get upset if she doesn't get her way? I love what you've done in that bed. It's so pretty now and your ideas for the future moving/planting sound spot on! I'm anxious to see it when you are finished planting it up, and when it starts filling in. You have such a great eye for pairing things. I love the lemon sedum, too. I had some in pots last year and they didn't make it. I think the pots were too small, so I think I'll try some in bigger pots this year, if I can find some! Lucky you getting that Gorilla Cart from your Dad. That was so nice of him! BTW, Happy Belated Birthday! 🍹 🍷 🎂 🥂 🎂 🎈🎁 🎉 I'm glad you had a good time video chatting with your family. I'm hoping you can get someone to remove the magnolia. I'd hate to see you cause more damage to your shoulder, but I can understand you getting impatient to have it done. Sorry this is so long! Thank you so much for making my day again and keep on planting!
Birds are so smart but they certainly have an ugly side to them! That's so sad! I've been finding eggs on the ground almost daily this week bc of those buttheads. Oh Colby doesn't except "no" as an answer, she will chase and harass me until she gets her way, or runs out of steam. When she wants out but the weather isn't nice enough I try to distract her with some fresh veggies, that almost always works. The gorilla cart is amazing! By far the most utilized garden tool I have, and I've only had it for 8 days! Love it! The lemon coral sedum are aggressive growers and do much better in a nice wide pot, they will probably do better for you this year if you can find them and put them in something larger like you said. That magnolia! Urgh! That saga continues on in this week's vlog. Thank you again for the kind words and the well wishes for my bday!
Exactly! I feel like a little kid when I'm pulling it around. I habe gotten tons of use out of it, probably the most utilized garden item I have and I've only had it for 8 days.
OHHHH Pretty. So considering that wagon!!!! Very cool tool. Raining here again today too and supposed to continue for the next 3 days. Finding no excuse not to do house work. Hahahaha. Because of you I did buy two of the Bubble Gum Petunias yesterday. And a couple regular petunias. As soon as rains stop I want to plant them and put the walls of water around here. Still a chance of frost. With only the four 2 will go on each side and call it good. The flower beds are pretty immature but filling in quickly with plants from seed like columbine violets some hollyhocks and iris. Oh and daylilies. Kind of boring but oh well inexpensive. Love the purple heart.
I finally got all my existing rare tropicals placed....which is not a easy task lol....lots of my tropicals need at least 2-3 people to help me move them..... I just spent another 300 bucks on more rare tropicals lol....like puya alpestris....black flowering lotus (from the pea family not the water plant)...mandevilla laxa.... Iochroma coccinea red and iochroma royal blue....cape fuchsia 'magenta'....lepechinia Bella...scabiosa 'fama blue' and a cobaea scandens to start with....the neatest plant I bought is a new almost ever blooming aloe plant named sunset rose pink whose flowers are sterile and oversized for the plant ...starting out a rose pink and fading to salmon pink
JeffFFF Happy Belated Birthday!! I love the Gorilla cart you received for your birthday! I have something similar to that and I absolutely love it, however, I am saving my $$s to get a dolly like yours. I love my cart because it has handles on the sides to place whatever I will need shovels, rakes, etc and the front of the cart it has placement for my smaller tools. But when it comes to lifting plants that are heavy that's a long way up there to place in the cart. So I figured if I purchased a dolly like the one you have I would save my back ack!! Love the arrangement on your flower bed! Adding the lemon coral sedum along with the purple heart definitely, to me anyway, gave it a pop. I have the sedum angelina along with the purple heart in one of my flower gardens for a couple of years and I adore how they look together. In fact the purple heart is already blooming. As always Jeff great video!!
Thank you Cici! Oh yeah, the cart is way to high for moving big plants around. I've gotten so much use out of that thing already! I love my convertible dolly, that is an investment you won't regret! I use all three of the positions often. It has a 45 degree angle position that is great for really heavy plants. By setting it in that position you don't have to struggle to hold the dolly in position while moving the plants.
I haven't been online much in a few days, so happy belated birthday!! Your Gorilla Cart is awesome! I was starting to get a bit concerned, but I'm glad Tucker showed up at the end! I have a Hilo Booty! LOL My booty loves being planted in Hilo on the beach.
Oh no! That's terrible! I hope the damage was minimal... and thank you for reminding me that I need to check my sump pump. It's been raining here so much that I foresee issues. I might even order one of those alarms that goes off when water is detected on the floor.
Jeff... how do you keep your momentum up to actually finish your outdoor projects? For me I'm excited in the planning and the shopping and sort of when I start implementing and then I fizzle out
There are plenty of occasions where I do the exact same thing. Heck, today I went outside , started getting prepped to do some more planting and half way in just decided I didn't feel like it, and went back inside. 😂 I've noticed for myself that I must set aside time to actually sit and enjoy my plants and garden. If the only times outside is when I'm working and filmimg videos then the fun and therapeutic aspect gets lost. Kind of like recharging a battery.
Hey Jeff. A belated Happy Birthday to you! The gorilla cart is cool. So useful. Last birthday I got a plant labeller. 10 years ago it would have been the last thing I wanted. Now it's a different story. Simple gift but a great one and so useful. I'm fascinated by your planting of the Chinese fan palm and that it's root hardy even in your climate. I've not seen that done in the Uk and our winters are milder so I'm gonna give it a try as they look beautiful plants. Loved the Vlog. For me, one of the best moments was watching Colby waiting by the door to get out of the house, just like a dog or cat. I've never had a pet tortoise, just shows how intelligent they are! Cheers
Thank you! Yeah the Chinese fan palms are pretty root hardy, but the foliage does quickly from cold and even just cool temps. The only thing I don't like about them as a "hardy" palm is that they take a long time to pop up after winter. The ground has to really warm up to get them going. I've always wanted a plant labeler! I had one that taps into the metal signs, but my hand writing was too horrible to make out what was even written 😂🤣
Hi Jeff, fantastic video, loved the garden set up and those sedums really make the garden pop! Your cart is nifty, bet you finding all sorts of chores to do that include your cart. Everyone is going to envy you now.😁. Hope your tree gets sorted, you don’t want to do further injury to your shoulder. Glad you had a great birthday, I think we all have had to endure this kind of celebrating this year, well the birthdays happening over this time. Love seeing your pets as usual. I have to wait till end of the month before planting due to the risk of frost and you know, I just can’t wait. 😁 have a great week, happy gardening and be careful! 😁🌈🐾🇬🇧
Thank you! Now that the weather has FINALLY warmed up, things are going to go into overdrive outside. I cant wait for Monday!... supposed to rain all day tomorrow, but Monday through Friday is supposed sunny and mild... perfect gardenign weather! The gorrila cart is amazing, it's my new favorite thing.
that bed is so cute... I am learning patience and learning to plant in sequence to make for better landscaping. I just ordered some Hawaiian Ti for my front and back. do you talk about rose Bush maintenance? I think mine has a fungus. it is as old as me. my Grandmother planted it around this time 46 years ago.
The Setcresea or purple heart plant is also known as the cockroach plant because when stepped on or when the leaves rub together they sound like an insect moving about. :)
Thanks Jack! That's an Alpinia zerumbet variegata... variegated shell ginger. Not hardy here in zone 6. I have had one survive winter before, but it's growth after the winter was so minimal that it isn't worth trying to keep outside year-round for me. I have some cold hardy gingers coming in a few weeks that have a slightly similar appearance. I'll do a video on them when they show up.
If anyone wants a banana plant, I found a whole bunch in the clearance section of Lowe's for $3 each. The plants look entirely healthy except for their outer leaves, which probably got ruined from the cold weather. I'm expecting mine to rebound quickly.
WOW! So jealous of the Gorilla cart! I need one so bad! Such a great Bday present! I like the shell ginger there! I have one in full sun (8+ hrs) that is growing nicely. The leaves cup around mid day from light/heat but they open back up in the evening and morning. How many of those hedychium gingers do you have? Never seen that brand of garden soil before. Might be regional.
Man the gorilla cart is amazing! I have something else going in that spot that will have a similar approach to the shell ginger but is cold hardy. Just placed it there to help me with how I need to space other things out so there's room when the new plants come in that will go in place of the shell ginger. I do really like it there though. I used to plant them on each side of this bed when there was a big cherry tree to shade them. Once the cherry tree was gone they just burned in the afternoon from being near that pavement and in the refraction zone of the sun from the house to the pavement. I have the banana there now though, and that should shade it in the afternoon. How many of the hedychiums? I have 2 of the fiestas, and several other varieties.
LOL @add vlog...and toby-in-the-box... at least you finish your sentences before you scroll on to something else LOL. I start talking about something and then start talking about something else and I know what I said but no one else does LOL. Yeah so last night we were in a tornado warning which is really weird for Massachusetts and my entire Garden was engulfed in water like I couldn't see anything anymore luckily the only thing that got really bad damage was my basil and a few of my tulips are pretty trashed
Oh no! I'm glad you're ok! I think we've only one or two tornado warnings this spring which is unusual. However storm season is just getting to where it gets bad then peaks around mid June and fizzles out. I actually should film for my may garden tour before we get big hail and bad storms which destroy some of the broad leaved plants. Thanks for reminding me! Oh i start sentences and don't finish them all of the time! I didn't even realize I did that until I was editing a video a few months ago and realized nobody will know what I was talking about because I just changed subjects mid sentence without giving any context at all. 😂🤣
Ha ha ha ha ha💚🙃oh beautiful, I can’t wait to see it all filled in💚🙃 HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂 sorry if I was a little off key, singing Happy birthday to you. I finally went to the garden center today, yay!!!! I love picking out plants. I had my mask, hand sanitizer and charge card in hand. I was one happy old lady🙃 I’m so glad that you got a new cart, doubly glad it was a gorilla cart. I did get SOME planting done today, I wanted to do more because of possible rain tomorrow, but this old lady got pooped. I didn’t mean to end with a ha ha ha, but the dogs and I just had to start planting, and I figured I would finish watching the video after I was ready to settle down for the night. If I would have watched the whole video before I went outside, my mind would have been thinking about planting and not really watching the video. So now I’m here to relax and watch some good stuff! I bought two ostrich ferns today, I love them. My variegated ginger is still looking very sad 😞 Thanks for the great video Jeff💚🙃
Grackles are a big fat nuisance. We learned never park under a tree unless you want a new car "color" and car wash run. I got a bag of that organic soil from Walmart last fall on clearance. I was planning on putting it in the indoor plants...and someone decided to use it for grass seed. So I got a bag of manure...which they also have already gotten into. 🤦♀️ Meanwhile they couldn't find their hoe and I said its probably at a friends house...yep, they found it there. I almost need to make a list of tools they take over there...99% of our "missing" tools are there. Today is a gross day. It's been raining for 21 hours or so. So all the peat moss put down, all the grass seed, all the fertilizer...washed into the pool or down the street. But we also weren't really expecting heavy downpours of 2" per hour...we were expecting 4-6" from last wed through sunday. Not 4" in 21 hours. But the good side is all the plants outside (so far, 2 big plumeria are still in...1 is blooming and is too hard to move without damaging the flower stalk, 1 is just big & I've been lazy) are getting a good watering, they didn't blow over in the wind, and flower stalks didn't get snapped off of the plumeria. Miss uti kitty is still in the clear. We're also on day 8 of no accidents! Tried being outside last Sunday when it was nice out...they wanted in...Monday I saw a hawk in the yard so they get supervised outside time until the hawk finds a new hunting ground. Gotta love waiting on packages. Been watching for 1 for a week now, another should've arrived today (and it's a plant so where is it...tracking history is spotty missing data entirely from yesterday) And do not get me started on waiting for work crews. They sometimes need inside to check something, have an appointment, never show. Or they cant find your house...um, it's been built for 10+ years, the neighborhood was on the map when we bought it 20 years ago, 30 years after it was built, people cant find it? A brand new development I understand, but with map apps for established neighborhoods...no excuse. I had a bad year 8? years ago with work crews never showing. I did a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle in a day waiting on a no show contractor. But how did your tree guy confuse a palm tree for a 50% cut down sick magnolia? I can't identify palm species, but I can recognize a palm! But time to go walk our laps to earn food for miss uti. I need to adjust my chewy order as we're still trying to figure out the right timing...6 weeks is too soon, but 9 is too long...might need to switch to 9 next time to be able to work through our current stockpile of cat food.
Oh the grackles are just horrible! I try to appreciate them for their intelligence, but my life was better before they showed up a few years ago. .. poop everywhere, in the pool mostly and sometimes they drop it on me and they raid the nest of the songbirds and kill their chicks. Every year I have 3 pairs of cardinals, 1 robbin and 2 dove pairs that nest in my yard and the robbin is the only one of all of them who is able to raise up their chicks before the grackles find them. Im considering putting up bird houses for the cardinals since the holes would be small enough that I dont think the grackles could get in, but I'm not sure. Also bird houses are just something else to have to clean and sanitize. There's enough to keep up with as it is. I'm so glad kitty is still in the clear!
I Live In Southern WV And I Have Some Road Frontage Beside Of My Driveway,, That Is All Inclined And Aggravating To Keep The Grass Cut With A Weedeater Because Of Being To Steep To Use Any Kind Of Mower. I'm Wanting To Plant Something Like A Ground Vine Or Whatever, That Doesn't Grow Tall, That Will Overtake The Grass, So I Don't Have To Weed Eat That Area Any Longer And It's All Open, With Direct Sun On It During The Daytime And It's Roughly 50 Feet Wide And 700 Feet Or So Long... Any Suggestions Would Be Greatly Appreciated For What I Can Plant, That Will Grow As Fast As Possible But Maintain The Ground Strength With Very Minimal Erosion Or No Erosion If Possible.
I have a guy that trucks palms up from Florida and I get most of my palms from him wholesale. They are pretty common though, I've seen them at big box stores many times.
More footage and info on the stromanthe stromanthoides "Charlie' pleaseee i got one in a 16 inch and its my Queen her name is Charlize YES! after Charlize Theron 😍🥰
What's with the disappearing watch? 13:03 watch. 14:33 no watch. Thanks for the video distraction, although I'm still crying my eyes out. Why do pets have to die?
Ha! I realized I didn't want to wear my white watch while being elbow deep in garden soil, I took it off. I know, im so so so sorry for your loss! I'm still scarred from losing my childhood dog and that was almost 10 years ago. That was the most horrific pain I've ever felt and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Keep on cryin, let it all out. Feel free to message me on insta if you need an ear and metaphorical shoulder.
Watching your videos is grounding in this tough time. Thank you! I especially love the vlogs.
Thank you, Brittany! I hope you're staying safe and healthy!

Jealous about how beautiful your Lemon Coral sedum is. I finally found it here, but it was scraggly and all in bloom.

You've been busy! Dang those are some nice plants!
That's where I want my booty too! 😂🤣
💚💚💚
Sorry I took so long.... basement flooded 😔
Oh no! That's terrible! I hope the damage was minimal... and thank you for reminding me that I need to check my sump pump. It's been raining here so much that I foresee issues. I might even order one of those alarms that goes off when water is detected on the floor.
That bed looks fantastic! You could be a landscape gardener/planner!
Thank you sheila!
Yasssss
🌴💚
Jeff... how do you keep your momentum up to actually finish your outdoor projects?
Oh I've already gotten so much use out of the cart, I absolutely love it! Thank you! Hope you have a great weekend and stay safe and healthy!
Too bad your string show was not on a motion cam...good show. Thanks Love your videos.
I love how wildlife behaves. Such goof balls! Thank you! Happy Saturday! Hope you are doing well and staying safe!
Happy Belated Birthday!! 😀 Things are looking better all the time, I love that Gorilla Cart/ wagon. ❤️
Hi!!!So pretty! You have such a good eye (eyes?) for colors and placement! Well happy belated to you and nice cart 👍!
🤣🤣🤣 Toby in the gorilla cart 😅🥰🥰 Happy Birthday 🎁🎉🎂
Such a sweetheart! Thank you!
that bed is so cute...
😂🤣😅 that's a fun fact! Never stepped on them before, but you've made curious!
The ? Ginger under the banana and beside the Crinum....what variety is that? How hardy is it? Liking the tropical garden bed already!
Yo keep up with the content
I'm so excited about the Gorilla Cart and it's not even mine. 😂😂❤❤
Same here!! Lol
It has already gotten a ton of use!
@@TropicalPlantParty be careful it can only hold 1200 lbs! A ton may be too much. :P
😂🤣😅 good one!
🙋♂️🌴💚🌈
Been watching for 1 for a week now, another should've arrived today (and it's a plant so where is it...tracking history is spotty missing data entirely from yesterday)
And do not get me started on waiting for work crews.
Lol. The bird running that string everywhere is hilarious! You should cut some short pieces for them. My mom used to do that
They would love that! But I'm not encouraging the grackle birds to nest here. They are so messy and mean.
Where do you get the chinese fan palms from?
I have a guy that trucks palms up from Florida and I get most of my palms from him wholesale. They are pretty common though, I've seen them at big box stores many times.
Looks nice! What d you do for a living?
More footage and info on the stromanthe stromanthoides "Charlie' pleaseee i got one in a 16 inch and its my Queen her name is Charlize YES! after Charlize Theron 😍🥰
😂🤣😅 perfect name!
What is the name of the purple plants you planted?
Purple heart plants... setcreasea pallida/ tradescantia pallida
And the animals were trying to make a dress and you just... you just couldn't see it sigh* lol
Ha! When I saw the bird in the tree playing with the string it did remind me of that scene from Cinderella! Lol! That was Cinderella wasn't it?
