      Thank you, Eileen! Yes that is a dangerous but beautiful plant. I'm having a heck of a time deciding where to move it. I have to keep in mind that I'll have neices and/or nephews in a few years, plus the senior dogs. It has to go somewhere inaccessible, or ill have to put a fence around it, which I don't think would look very good.

    I've noticed that when it rains the power to that outlet is more likely to work than not. If that's the casw then water is getting in to complete a broken connection somewhere. An electrician can locate the issue and repair or rewire it.
    It's always such a treat to follow along with your progress outside!

    • @justMariL

      Also - as far as arcing goes the load should be low enough that if that's happening along the length of the wire in the ground the soil should dissipate it but if that that box watch out!

    Hey Jeff, Another great video thank you. I did have a laugh when you talk about noises and farts it reminds me of my brother he’s always trying to blame somebody else or something else. Thank you for sharing the vinegar and hot water with some washing up liquid for killing plants or getting them in control I have a lot of invasive weeds one in particular called bind weed which grows with just a broken piece somewhere and it is horrendous and gets into everything and strangles other plants and I’m constantly trying to kill it so will try the vinegar if It can as you say, get rid of the leaves and roots should die off. Your plants are looking great Nice colour and rearing to go. As normal it’s lovely to see your animals and your little tortoise it really is a cheer me up time. Take care, keep warm and enjoy your week😁🐾🌈🇬🇧

    • @TropicalPlantParty
      @TropicalPlantParty  4 роки тому

      Thank you! I've heard of bind weed, horrible stuff! The vinegar only works for me if I stay on top of spraying new foliage for a few weeks bc it does not normally kill the roots.

    Colby is so amazing!! I had to have a tree taken down today. It was a very sick elm with lots of rot inside the wood once down. Trunk split down to the ground and getting worse every year. If it had fale it would take my garage out and the other side would have fallen into the street. Very sad to lose a tree but it had to be done. I had hm leave the trunk and I will try to get planters up there. I have a vision but not sure I can pull it off. Leaving them just as is is also fine. Bummer on the thorn tree. Just a few mornings ago we were down to 31.

    Hi Jeff. Great Vlog. Really cool to see the sun shining at your place and the show getting on the road for summer. The Elephant ear at least on the picture looks cool....but the marketing people always have a "wide" descriptive license. Reminds me where I grew up. There was a part of the village named Belle Eau Parc.. Known locally as " Bella Park" as we were in the Uk rather than France. You will translate the name as Beautiful water park. You won't be surprised to hear it looked a little shabby, there was no water in sight and in no-ones loosest definition would you describe it as a park. Have a great weekend mate. Cheers

    This weather IS CRAZY! 80° one day and the next day 60° with night temps at 35° . The first 3 times I covered everything but the last 3 times I decided nope! It is soooooo much work covering everything and uncovering everything the next day. Oh and the very special plants I had brought back inside the first few times but gave up on that as well.... EVERYTHING is so heavy! Gardening in ground and pots is my very most favorite thing in the world but it's HARD WORK and when you throw in frost when the frost should have stopped at latest April 15th for me in North Alabama at some point I just told my plants to please stay strong and be tough hahaha I have zero help with plants and gardening but not one person is shy about asking for cuttings, plants and veggies 🤪🤣😂🤣🤪 Don't get me wrong I absolutely love sharing but where are these people when I'm moving heavy pots and planting and tending to my garden haha okay this turned in to a whole rant, sorry lol I wouldn't continue to do it year after year if I didn't love and enjoy it!! I just really wish the weather would decide hot or cold 🦋 Happy Planting and have a great week!!

      😂🤣😅 oh i can relate to all of this! Looks tonight is going to be our last cool night and we will be back to having night time lows in the 60s and 70s... finally! I also was to a point where I was over moving everything back in and covering stuff. I rolled the dice with several plants Friday and Sunday night when it dipped into the 30s, but everything looks fine except some annuals, but they grow fast and will bounce back in a week or so. Isn't it funny how people will ask for the fruits of your labor but not ask if you need help? Sounds familiar! 😂🤣 isn't there an old fable about that? Something with a rabbit, no, grasshopper and ants? Idk. Lol.

    Hi Jeff! I'm sorry you did all of that filming in slowmo then had to redo. Also for losing two other videos. 😕 Was that a margarita you made? If so, what did you put on the rim? It was good seeing Colby, Toby, Tucker and Pumpkin, as always. If you put a crepe myrtle in the corner, where will you put your orange tree? I hope you get a reasonable bid on removing the tree and get it done soon. Have you heard yet when you will be able to have surgery on your shoulder? It sounds like some places are starting to schedule the non-emergency surgeries. I love watching your progress, and honestly, love watching anything you do. Thank you so much for sharing, and keep on growing! I forgot to ask if you get fruit on the orange tree and if it is edible?

    • @TropicalPlantParty
      @TropicalPlantParty  4 роки тому

      Oh it's nbd, I didn't refilm anything I lost anyway, just moved on with other things. Yes, that was a margarita. I dont remember the name of the seasoning blend, but it was like a chili-cayenne mix of some sort. Well I wasn't sold on putting the orange tree there anyway, I'd prefer it go somewhere else that the pets and people never would be in contact with it. Also may have nieces and/or nephews in the future and have to keep that in consideration. Yes, they're edible, but not very tasty. They are bitter and normally used for making drinks and jams/marmalades.

    I can see that bitter orange tree hooking into your skin and making a nasty nasty wound. How old is Kolby? And where did you get her from? She’s beautiful, I love turtles. I was in Hawaii once and went into a state park on the ocean, never saw the notice about leaving the sea turtles alone, so what did I do, walked right up to the sea turtle that was basking on the shore. I didn’t touch her/ him but really wanted too, the turtle didn’t look healthy so that’s why I stayed away from it otherwise I think I would have gotten up close and personal with it. Thank goodness I didn’t, I saw the sign on the way out of the park. My bad. I can’t wait to move all of my plants I have waiting in the house outside. I have a ginger the variegated one that I bought and it looked so good but pot bound, I repotted it and now it’s dying. It breaks my heart because she was so beautiful. I can’t figure out what’s wrong. I love your descriptive words, poop pouch being one of them. Toby is just a boy wanting to have some fun, just a minor forget slip. He’s probably sorry. I think this stay at home/ shelter in place is messing with my head. I never leave the house much, but now that I can’t, I’m talking to you like your my best friend, sorry. I know I’m a pest💚🙃

    • @TropicalPlantParty
      @TropicalPlantParty  4 роки тому

      😂🤣 not a pest at all! Colby is still a baby, few years old, rather small for her age. The place I rescued her from didn't give her a good start/proper, varied diet. Oh yeah, he's a dog, i wasn't mad at him. Actually I don't think I've ever been upset with Toby before. Since day one he has always been a very well behaved dog. Didn't chew much as a puppy, only a couple of accidents in the house, which is nbd, puppies have accidents. Heck, just 3 days ago tucker who is 12 peed on my foot right after I let him in the house from being outside to go potty! Rude! 😂🤣
      The alpinia zerumbet gingers tend to throw fits when repotted, totally normal. If possible keep the plant somewhere warm and humid with moist soil and it will bounce back. Might have some die back, but it will put up new growth and be ok.

    "just put the plant in the bag that's on the label"
    ugh, so annoying. I bought 30 "mixed" rain lily bulbs last year. Now, I'm fully aware that pink is more common than white, red and yellow. But you'd think, out of two packages of 15, at least one would be non-pink. No. All pink. It doesn't matter, I just planted them as filler in the front bed, but one non-pink would have been nice, you know?
    And you having me want to reorder Cannas. The ones I bought last year, the plants came up spindly and died. I really want the look of the Pink Sunburst, Inferno and Stuttgart together in a pot. Then again I could buy some fancy hibiscus, even though I hate them my mom thinks they're pretty.
