Good vlog as usual, We went passed Wigan pier on our friends boat many years ago when we were doing the Ribble link then there was an actual pier mind you it was only about 6ft hope you enjoyed Liverpool. 😊
Thanks for showing us around the pubs along the way, not many vloggers do that. I don't think Butler would've minded going to Liverpool with you, he seemed to have made himself at home.
Eyup ! From a Wigan lad born and bred. When you came through the Wigan pier complex, as you turned sharp left under the bridge, you may of noticed a small hump in the towpath with two iron girders curving upwards ? Well believe it or not, " that " was the pier !!! 🤦 It was where coal was brought in on a track by tipping bogies and tipped onto the barges. Anyway, nice video guys, keep it up, and take care 👍
Oh dear I hope they sort them lift bridge's before we go up next year 🥴 another nice vlog hope you got your lump hammer back. Until next time take care 😊
Ah brings back the memories even though it's not been that long, it seems AGES since we did the trip... and yes those swing bridges are a pain in the backside!
@@WingingItBoatingonaBudget yeah I’m wading through our summer trip. One per week! Next one is into Liverpool! How are you both? Grand parenthood seems to be suiting you well!
I've been watching you guys for a while now. I don't comment much but thought I would for a change. I've really been enjoying your holiday escapades, and being a Wiganer its been particularly good watching you go though places I often walk. Pennington flash, Gathurst (pronounced Gath Hurst), Appley Bridge and Parbold (lovely village). I've sat in the outside area of the Windmill pub where you were on many an occasion over summer having some liquid refreshments after walking from Appley Bridge. Anyway just thought I'd comment as you're doing a great job with the vlogs...... Just need a song or two now Paul and that would be it 😁🎤🎙️🎹🎸🥁
@@waynewaring Hi Wayne. I certainly recognise your name when it pops up and I know that you’re a regular viewer. I really appreciate that. Glad you’re enjoying the recent vlogs. It’s strange when venturing into new territory, not knowing how things are pronounced etc, but there certainly are some lovely spots in your neck of the woods!
555555555 ! Doncha just love it when a plan comes together ? We lived on the Other side of the Valley from Parbold in the 60"s ! My father bought a little cottage, at Auction, in 1960, and after extensive renovation we moved in in 1962 ! Father sold it in "71, moved back to civilisation in St. Helens ! 555555 ! { When I phoned them up from University to tell them I was coming home, at Christmas "71, Mother said to me ""Oh by the way, we've moved "" Nice ! }. I used to take the train from Parbold to Wigan Tech College ! Parbold seemed to be a big centre for buying and selling the old working boats ! They would cut 71 footers into two and stitch a new Bow or Stern onto them to make different sizes of boats ! Right outside Ainscough"s flour mill ! I used to go down on a Saturday, to mooch around all the boats, wishing I had the money to buy one ! I am still wishing ! You're about a week behind Heidi ! She's just been through Parbold ! You think you"ve got it bad with the rain ! So far, we've had the last 3 Months of continuous Thunder-storms ! One of those Chinese ones I think ! Stay dry P and P Stu xx
