    Would you wear white on one hand and black on the other hand?

      I personally would not, I don't even prefer an accent nail on myself either It's not that I do not like accent nails bc I do like them a lot, just not on me. With that being said, I do like the idea and think it would be fun for someone else.

    What a coinkidink! While I was watching this I was applying Silhouette in Vinylux and doing “nail-art” (bad attempt) using Cream Puff!! I’m looking for a lighter gray, will get Whisper. Powerful Hematite looks very interesting. I have Dark Diamonds in Shellac and loved it for the Holidays! Thanks guys!! What a horrible year that must have been for you! I’m sorry you had (have) to go through the stress this pandemic has fraught upon you

    Quick question do you recommend cnd shellac gel or is the cnd shellac luxe?

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  4 роки тому

      Luxe is discontinued. Due to "inconsistent wear" apparently.

      @@TheSalonLife Oh wow they still sale it at walmart. I been seeing your videos on youtube. You made me want to purchase cnd shellac gel. I was going to buy luxe because its a lot more product than the regular gel. So its better to buy the .25 oz. Also where do you recommend buying the product?

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  4 роки тому

      I always recommend getting professional products from their authorized distributors. Otherwise you might be getting expired or fake product. I wouldn’t purchase CND products from Walmart, that’s for sure.

      Yes, it's a light grey. I couldn't find it in my stash, I think I ran out of it and never replaced it.

    Is there a difference between shellac polish and gel polish or are they the same? At the nail salon they say to me do you want gel or shellac?... I have gotten both and can not tell a difference in appearance between the two

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  4 роки тому +3

      CND Shellac is a name of a brand of gel polish. Like Nestea is a name of a brand of ice tea. Some salons call all gel polishes Shellac which is very misleading. CND Shellac is one of the most expensive brands (also hypoallergenic) . So if someone asks specifically for a brand they should be given that brand not a knock off or a generic cheapie saying "it's all the same". It's not. Like if I ask someone to get me a Starbucks coffee I mean I want Starbucks not McDonalds (coffee) ;)

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  4 роки тому +3

      The proper question should be "would you like gel or gel polish". Both come in many, many different brand (from high end to cheap and anything in between)

    • @sandrastreifel6452
      @sandrastreifel6452 4 роки тому

      I believe Shellac brand is a hybrid between nail lacquer and gel polish? It’s one of the few gel formulas which includes a solvent. Am I mistaken?

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  4 роки тому

      There are many different brands with different formulas. Saying that Shellac is a hybrid and others are not is simplifying things a little. CND Shellac does feel like polish more (compare to other brands like OPI for example). Shellac kind of sets up a little when it's being applied (kind of dries), I like it. I'm sure other brands have solvents (making them fit into the category of a hybrid I guess). Mosaic UV-Lac also felt like Shellac, it contained solvents etc. Mosaic changed the formula though because they had issues with premature hardening of the product in bottles. The removal of that system was even better than Shellac. Too bad for that issue they had (and it was bad, many of my bottles went totally bad even before they turned 12 months, huge expense)

    My top three:
    Cream puff
    Black pool
    Whisper
    I love cnd stellac ! I do my nails at home since i’ve got allergic reaction to other brands , so can you confirm this brand Is the only one hypoallergenic? Or is there something similar? Thank you

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  4 роки тому

      I’m sure that there are more. Light Elegance is one of them, but they don’t have a good soak off gel polish. Hypoallergenic means: less likely to cause allergy. It’s not a guarantee that you won’t develop allergy (overexposure)
      Allergy is caused by overexposure. Most people don’t realize (even majority of nail techs) what little it takes to get overexposed. That’s why I never recommend general public using any gels or acrylics. Once you become allergic it’s for life and it gets worse. Certain ingredients are more likely to cause issues or sometimes they are ok in small amounts but larger amounts can cause issue. Don’t forget that you can only develop overexposure/allergy to uncured or improperly cured product. Major cause of undercuring is using the wrong lamp (generic lamp). Just like you can’t see with a naked eye that there is a virus on the surface you can’t tell with naked eye if the gel was cured properly. That’s why responsible companies give you an exact lamp and the exact time for how long you are suppose to cure the product.
      Companies that tell you that their product can cure in any lamp would probably tell you “it’s clean” looking at a surface. There are levels of “clean” and there are levels of “cure”. Be careful with your allergy. I would suggest Dazzle Dry if you are in USA. Also google “Doug Schoon properly curing gels”

      Wow ! That’s an amazing explanation of this problem ! Thank you so much ! Personally i quit doing my nails in a salon because here where i live they don’t use hypoallergenic brands such as shellac and I’m good with this now at home , no reactions at all . Unfortunately i live in italy and we don’t have dazzle dry probably they ship worldwide i will check! The topic of undercured products it’s so interesting, i will probably buy cnd lamp as well now I’m ok with a 48 watt led lamp . So should i continue using cnd or i can also develop allergy as well ? I’m actually doing my nails every 2/3 weeks because they last so. Thanks again you’re such a good nail technician!
