      @@hassanrahmani4620 What exactly are they jealous about? People don't like to hear the truth that isn't sweet for their ears. Look at the current society, majority of people are raised and taught that to be weak is ok, be who the hell you want to be, it's ok to have no discipline, goals, not challenged enough, parents remove all possible obstacles in their kids' life and later kids grow up being thin-skin, narcissistic and impatient. These exact people do hate J.P. because he speaks about real life, not rainbows and butterflies.

    I came across J Peterson when I was at my lowest earlier this year. I was constantly asking myself: “What is like to be a man nowadays?”. I learned that the major life accomplishment that a man deserves is through the path towards his purpose. I believe that the average man nowadays is focused on things that won’t lead to a long-term satisfaction - which has to be changed.

      @LuisRodriguez-wo6nl 2 роки тому +1

      Well I'm sorry but in today's world !! Your idea 💡 of failure is insignificant . No matter how good you become, your gonna have to answer to somebody !!!
      You think Elon musk or Bezos get to call the shots 💯% all the time ?? They gotta obey uncle Sam first and foremost.. sure you got all the money in the world but it's just temporary. if you don't follow their protocols they take you down like your nothing ... That's what people don't understand Freedom is only relative according to your Merits !!!

    • @korthalas7776
      @korthalas7776 2 роки тому +3

      @@LuisRodriguez-wo6nl I'm a bit confused by this. What does freedom and control have to do with learning that failure is normal?
      But in any case, your statement "No matter how good you become, your gonna have to answer to somebody !!!" is largely incorrect. There are plenty of ways to ensure that you don't take orders from anyone, and you don't have to own a massive corporation to do it. And while it is true that most of us follow the "orders" of governments in the form of laws, a just government should have laws that are grounded in common sense and don't feel controlling, thus making it less "obeying" and more simple protections. If a government is tyrannical this isn't true but tyrannical governments can be changed, or you can flee.

    • @perception-reception
      @perception-reception 2 роки тому +9

      @@LuisRodriguez-wo6nl I don't think you got what Jordan Peterson was saying at all. Failure is a baseline meaning don't give up and also success isn't measured in money. You are comparing to Bezos and Musk. This is exactly what he was saying not to do. That's envy. If you don't think they have everyday problems just because they have billions I promise you are wrong. It can be lonely at the top. Also so what if you have to pay tax? That's a reason not to try, not to attempt to be your very best. Strive to be the best if you are a plumber, CEO, pilot, Nurse, entrepreneur, whatever. Also keep close friends and family only within your inner circle. Only those you can trust most. This is what he means by careful for who you share good and or bad news with. Some will use it against you. People are spiteful when you are successful. They envy that. Which is unhealthy because you never know as he said that person driving a fancy car next to you might just want to wrap it around a pole. Meanwhile most people are jealous of that person because of what they perceive is successful.

    "you can go a bloody long way if you're being honest" - could not agree more. We're continually, perpetually being tested by the universe, and our peers to see if we take the carrot as the donkey - whether we fall prey to the quick-satisfaction, only to delay the impending guilt. Are those people who live out of integrity ever genuinely, truthfully happy? Living to your authentic gifts, and continually affirming your worth is a far more rewarding journey, and one that feels far better when you "make it" - or shall i say - in this state, you've already "made it"! So I'll say it, I had a hard life growing up as a farmers/stripminers son. It was work, all day, everyday. School or not school...I was expected to come home and help the family as a whole. I hated it as a child then, but I understand how much that meant now for me to have become who I am. We raised around 120,000lbs. of tobacco a year, my father logged, sold firewood, did small engine repair, mowers, weedeaters, generators, heaters, he was also a foreman on a strip mining job, while all this was going on he pushed on for his family. It was all to improve my families life....I didn't see it so much then...but damn do I now. He instilled such a work ethic...such a care for family...in me, its unreal...and I thank him for that now.

    Indeed. I arrived here ready to go to the next board meeting and quit. I've been working in a school for years trying to run a CTE program, but unfortunately, my plans and dreams have been consistently thwarted from others in the district with different ideas, and sometimes, with actions that have undermined my efforts. It's been a soul-crushing experience. But listening to Dr. Peterson makes me see the situation differently. I'm not the first teacher on Earth to confront a sullen bureaucracy. Yes, I've been reined in, but I can see in those areas where I have been allowed to excel that my students succeed, my efforts have improved over time, and my community and its families are served well in a way that has gotten better over time. Comparing my current situation with my dreams is a lot like comparing myself to another person; of course the dream will look better. Have I done a little better since Tuesday? Yes. Thank you for sharing your wisdom, Dr. Peterson.

    "Beauty calls people to their higher being, I would say, and to make friends with beauty is to introduce yourself very carefully to one of the mysteries of life that make it worth living." This may sound trite, but I think that it may have been the most important thing he said here, because it's foundational. So many of our modern-day problems derive from our unwillingness to make friends with beauty.

    This has been my mission, for almost all of my life. To truly battle everything that would bring you down, you have to know what inner resources you have at hand. Being honest with yourself is the most important step, and realizing that you have the power to change things to make your life better can be the most empowering resource that you need.
    This also entails that you are serious about keeping up on the details. True personal growth involves taking responsibility for your actions if you make a mistake, as well as taking the credit for a winning presentation. Everyone fails - everyone. The difference lies in the direction one takes in life and one's ability to give a negative experience a positive takeaway by utilizing it to help make a positive change in one's life through reflection and commitment. One has to WANT to become better day by day, and be devoted to making it happen.

    Jordan is waaay beyond Awesome! There's no words to describe his wise talks so I won't even try! My Grandpa used to tell me when I lived with him and my Grandma : "You'll never truly know a person until you spend at least 30 days with them!" I had to learn the hard way because I have a stubborn nature but I learned though!😏😉 To prejudge people without knowing anything whatsoever about them is foolish. To judge someone as good and to judge someone as bad are both equally negative to you and that person for Everybody puts on a smile initially whether or not they're actually "good" or "bad" for what meter is acceptable but for the tried and true adage: "You shall know a Tree by the fruit it produces!" 🙄🧐 Meaning if a person's words match their actions that's who they are.If what they claim doesn't reflect what they espouse then don't have any association with them because their Narcissistic behaviour will only cause discord, resentment and contempt which in turn will always lead to hate and violence.If you think that certain folks don't like you don't take it personally, they just hate themselves for since they haven't taken the time to resolve their myriad underlying issues they haven't gotten to know you which is good! ( well unless you are just like them, "there's no honor among liars and thieves" anyway!)

    I like how he verbalized the idea of not comparing yourself to others. Ordinarily someone would advise you by saying " you don't have "their" life, "their" problems etc." it is much more effective to say that "they" don't have "your" life and "your" abilities. It brings the focus back to who "you" are instead of continuing the comparison paradigm. Well, it works that way for me anyway.

    I have learned over the years to accept the strengths and weaknesses I was born with 69 years ago. For years I worked as a temporary clinical pharmacist in small clinics with three to five doctors. Often I would work for several months at the same hospitil/clinic. Over twenty years I worked shoulder to shoulder with the physicians. Most of them were women. They were above average in beauty, intelligence, income and in achievement. From the outside they looked like they had the world at their feet. But a number of them became close enough friends to me that they would share their struggles. Many of them were discouraged with life. They had been told to achieve, to prove they could compete and find fulfillment. Certainly, they could compete and excel. No doubt about that. But they were in college and university until their mid-to late 20s and then they had residency and post residency training. Then they started their careers and wanted to work a few years to pay off their debts and enjoy their status and income. But for many the years slipped by and they had not time for love and family commitments until their late 30s and then if they didn't meet the right man soon their child bearing years were behind them and their careers became a burden rather than a joy. Not to all, but too many. Some accepted their life as single women. Some took parttime jobs and raised families, but many continued the same stressful and demanding careers, often in isolated areas with people less educated and with men that were intimidated by successful, wealthy and powerful women. That was a common complaint as they got close to age 40. But I could see the mens point of view too. Theses women were often assertive, competitive and somewhat demanding in what they expected in life. They would be a handful to handle in a marriage, however wonderful they were. Anyway, back to me. I grew up on a farm. My father was one brother who did not go to college but became a farmer. One of his brothers taught in a prominent medical school, one had a PhD in education and one had a prestigious government job. Dad always regarded "college boys" as he called them with bit of suspicion. There was a lot of competition between the educated brother and him regarding wealth accumulation. My father loved his job as a farmer and he did it as long as was physically possible. My mother knew I had intellectual capacity and urged me to be a doctor. But my goals until I was nineteen was to be either an air conditioning expert or become a flour miller or a farmer. I wanted to work with my hands and achieve a good job. My uncle had position where he could probably get me into med school. But even in those early years I saw the problems with medicine. What about the eight or more years of rigorous school? What about the stress of the job? I couldn't see myself doing that and so I lived with my mothers disappointment and became a farmer. I loved it and generally excelled at it. But I hungered for more education and took a few distance learning classes and would take a semester now and then in the winter or between jobs as a farm laborer. Eventually I had a biology degree and decided to go to pharmacy school at age 34. I sold out all of my farm equipment when my leases ended in 1984 and whipped through pharmacy school in three years. So I had one foot in farming and one foot in the pharmacy profession. After I gained some experience and became highly marketable as a strong clinical man I would do temporary work in clinics and hospitals. I enjoyed the travel and the experience of new places. And I enjoyed the money too. I could charge anywhere from $65 to $100/hr and work almost whenever I wanted to. A far cry from my job as a farm laborer in 1972-74 for $500/month. But I observed all these unhappy physicians and pharmacists with fancy degrees and fancy jobs. One of my doctor friends would walk down the hall in the hospital and I would ask Ethel how she was doing. She would say "Eight years, nine months, twelve days....and look at her watch and add...and 6 hours" and I am out of here." I knew she was serious. And I phased out my contract work, expanded my farming to fulltime and bid farewell to the professional arena. The folks in the hospitals were generally frustrated and somewhat angry. That was my observation over twenty years. I am glad I got out of it for the last 16 years of my career. Most folks look at these successful people and think they have the world at their feet. But they don't. Gordon is very right when he says we don't always know what the idolized people experience in their lives.

    You know, I was sat in my car listened to this. Just wondering what and how I'm going on. Its been a rough ride and will continue to be tough. I recently came up with this quote. Of which I think we can ALL relate. "Even the toughest storms reconditions our Strengths. Our Anchors". - Jayson Hindle.

    There are a lot of people who ‘win’ and who appear to be ‘successful’, but who are really unhappy on the inside. I was one them, and luckily now, I’ve found happiness on the inside and it has nothing to do with money or status.
    Good luck, if you are on the other path!

    This reminds me of Matthew McConaughey's Oscar acceptance speech. The three things in his account he needs to add to each day. One to look forward to, one to look up to and one to chase. His family, God and himself.
