He most probably did, all the loops and callbacks were definitely planned out. He probably made like, a skeleton of what the story would be and just fleshed it out along the way.
whenever they do use it, it feels like rainbow vomit all over the screen imo. feels like they cranked the saturation too high vs Homestuck's (relatively) more subdued sprite mode backgrounds.
12:16 Look, in general I think the art in Act 6 is pretty good, especially when Andrew Hussie really shows a good effort in some panels that are more polished. However, something I would say that I think is kind of bad is some panels where you can clearly see that he was too lazy to reuse an asset or to really put effort into the art, which is strange because he had a lot of time. An example of a panel that I would say that I noticed this is in some panels in the final stretch where some characters are very, very pixelated. Example: page 7461 and page 7465 Which in themselves are literally the same page, but the problem is not that they are the same page it is the fact of the lack of explicit effort in the art. There are several examples of pages that contain questionable quality, sometimes even in the background where it looks like it needed more effort. Sometimes some backgrounds that use more realistic things end up looking very strange next to some of the characters they are drawing.
Semi-sprite is definitely the artsyle I associate most with Homestuck. I like the "newer" and HS2 styles but it doesn't help hold the same charm to me.
I am 4 minutes in to the video and I just realized you sound like a mixture between egbert and tavros. can't wait to watch the rest of the video, tho :o UPDATE: Amazing video. Learned a lot about HS sprites :] also I'll be reading your fanventure!!
I felt like semi-sprites in act 6 had the same amount of badness as before it,m in a different way though. I also don't mind hero mode being used less sparingly. Yes, it became less special to see a panel with it, but to me that's okay since it just symbolises a gradual shift in the comic's vibe, which I don't fault it for good video still, i like people exploring niche stuff like this
This was an interesting video! Sometimes youtube has good recommendations. I'll be super interested to check out what you make. Good on you for actually starting something! Thats the hardest step. This got me fired up to work on my non homestuck related comic idea!
Use a graph (network) to simplify transitions between facial expressions. "smile to smirk or neutral", "neutral to frown" etc… This is like a (flat/hierarchical) state machine.
yo,,, where is that groovin synthwave savior of the waking world remix from,,, i need that actually all of this background music is a boogie can you share the links
I always found semisprite to be the most charming. It just worked for Homestuck
i imagine hussie just had a giant pin board in his room crafted together before he decided to actually make the story

I enjoyed John Egbert talking at me about homestuck semi-sprites. Good luck on your project, the premise got me hooked
This video is from 3 years ago. He made and posted like 3/4ths through it and then cancelled it last year.
don't get me wrong, I really like the art for hs2, I just kinda wish they used sprite mode a bit more often
same, especially when sprite mode and semi-sprite mode look so (soo) visually appealing to me

a plan? already on pace to be better paced than homestuck
why are you here???
Hey hqngman dude
misali votgil :D
this is a fun video for me to watch because none of these names or proper nouns mean anything to me but it's still informative
i made an attempt at making this approachable without having read the comic
