I would love to see a mom edition: how to stay calm and classy when the kids are trying your patience, yelling from the other room (even after being told multiple times to come to the same room to talk) etc. Love this style of video, seeing real life scenarios
I haven't always had a sense of urgency but I have since driving I would say. Before that I remember my whole childhood was flowing. I want to draw from that more and embrace the wide eye wonder.
I had you in mind this morning as I got ready for my chiropractor appointment, so I dressed well instead of in my normal leggings and oversized hoodie. Afterward I came up to my daughter’s house and felt quite proud of myself to be well-dressed on a normal day…until my daughter served us Italian hot chocolate. When I looked down there was a giant drip down the front of my lovely cream sweater 😅 You just can’t let me out of the house! So now I’m snuggled in on my daughter’s sofa in one of her cozy (black!) sweatshirts-this is what I need to be wearing, because she is serving spaghetti and sauce for dinner 😂
I want to share a tidbit about “slowing down” and elegance at home. 5 years ago my husband was battling Stage 4 cancer and we had two young children. My life was full of caregiving (he could neither eat nor drink, but had a G-tube), doctors’ appointments, and taking care of my children’s needs. It was a time in life that should have felt hectic. But it wasn’t. During that time, I moved with SLOW intention through my day. I went slowly through my daily tasks. And in doing this, I felt calm and peaceful. (I’m sure my faith also helped!) That peace was able to radiate to my family and allow them to feel more secure in spite of the uncertain and difficult circumstances in which we found ourselves. ❤
Jennifer, you reminded me of some thing that happened when I was a small child and I’m now 76 years old. One day my dad had come home from work and he was commenting on how bad mother looked and how bad we looked. The next day mother had us all dressed up in our Easter clothes and sitting at the table. I had my Easter dress on gloves and a hat and my little brother had on his little suit and bowtie. Mother was standing at the stove stirring a pot in a strapless evening gown. When dad walked in he laughed so hard and I have remembered how fun that was all these years. Mother was just having a bad day the day before. Love in Christ
The one constant in all of the decorating videos I watch is the need to be surrounded by beauty. Making beauty the goal ensures an elegant life because beauty creates joy.
You’re so lovely. What a difference you’re making. I’m 60 and have been living this way my whole life, having been raised by a very elegant lady. I now live off-grid in a cabin in the woods with no running water or electricity and still maintain elegance. Candlelight is the best! Be well. 🩷
What a dream! I’m picturing you retrieving water all the while remaining classy. Little House on the Prairie immediately came to mind. Thank you for my little daydream 😊
Less than three minutes in and you've finally convinced me to dress up on a daily basis, even though I stay home. When you said that we're who we truly are when at home, and that how we dress makes us feel a certain way and think of ourselves a certain way, knowing that to be true, I was finally able to put two and two together. Thank you for making the connection for me! 🙏🏼
We had unexpected people over for lunch Sunday, and I placed cloth napkins beside each plate. Our guests remarked, "Oh, fancy!" Placing cloth napkins on the table was my usual routine for each of our meals where we had company or not, but it was nice to hear that they thought we were treating them special. Another idea about clutter: someone suggested taking a snapshot of various areas of your home, and then looking at the snaps critically so you can see if an area needs decluttering. I did this and realized I was clutter blind. It was eye opening. Thanks for sharing. I enjoy the tips you share.
One too I thought of after reading your comment is to take a picture after cleaning as well to remind you of the "ideal" when you need motivation to clean
I had cloth napkins out for a baby shower, they were by the plates and utensils and no one grabbed them at first because they thought they were decorations and not napkins to be used (they were just folded into a square) 😂
Elegance is intentional: the way and what we eat, what we wear, how we spend our time. Of course I'll rewatch the video to get the ideas firmly in my mind, but I'm taking with me the point that I need to be intentional. When I slouch, I'm not being intentional about how I'm sitting or standing. Clutter is not being intentional about what I have and where it goes. Thank you so much for a simple guide to start me on a more elegant path.
I absolutely loved this video. I am turning 60 this year and want to bring more elegance into my life. My husband gave me a two-dozen roses bouquet for Valentine’s Day. I consciously stopped and literally smelled the roses each time I passed them. Roses only tend to last for a week or less so I wanted to get the most enjoyment out of them as possible.
@@TheDailyConnoisseur He was absolutely the perfect comic relief! There was something very Paddington about him. I will always think of this when I need to slow down and take a breath! 😂
This is one of your best videos Jennifer! I appreciate your ongoing inspiration to elevate our private world. As a wife, mother, and business owner, I am always refining my habits and our home to create the most supportive conditions for nurturing and inspiration. I find that each season my personal style, our home's level of organization, and our family culture keeps elevating. The key is to make one or two changes each day. It may be styling a shelf, tossing out old makeup, or thinning the pile of papers. Living well is a lifelong project and we can keep refining and taking small steps. Living well at home is key to our own sense of authenticity and creates a foundation of confidence in our being. I am always gratified to see the following you have created and to be reminded that there are many people seeking to live a life of character and purpose.
Because you do the B roll so effectively (and it is hilarious), it shows you KNOW the other side and worked hard to become the elegant woman you are today. Very motivational.
My mom always insisted not to call out to someone from another room, go to that person. I liked that and it helps with the "mmooooooooommmmm!!!" Issue.
As a young suddenly singled mom of three little boys, life was hectic! I introduced candlelight meals whenever it was dusk or dark outside. It was almost magical how mealtimes became enchanting and so much more civilized. My "boys" are now in their thirties and forties - they still enjoy regular candlelight dinners with their families - and I still do, even by myself. It creates a pause and a stillness within a crazy world that still surround us out there.
#1 is 100% true. I’ve gotten dressed everyday of my adult life even as a full time housewife/homeschool mom. It really is very self fulfilling and communicates I matter to myself
Watching here in Cincinnati,Ohio! I needed to hear this, I have been in a rut of sloppiness and dulldrums. You inspire me to get up and take on the day with dignity and grace!
Great Video!! I live alone and absolutely enjoy setting my table , with candle sticks 😁, for meals. I’ve even enjoyed making my own placemats. I’ve brought back sewing into my life as a relaxation, creative outlet. I’m also a remote worker and I especially dress and put some makeup on . Thank you so much for the inspiration
OK, I just did things as the video went along. Stopped it and got dressed, stopped it and made breakfast and ate at the kitchen table (that's already set), stopped video and did the breakfast dishes and took out recycling, getting ready to make banana nut loaf to have with my 3:00 p.m. tea time. I'm on a roll! Thank you.
One thing I had to change was my hairstyle! That seems drastic but I had very very long hair that I always just threw up in a bun or a braid. It made me feel frumpy no matter how “dressed” I was. I got a pixie cut. Very Audrey Hepburn inspired and it absolutely changed my mood! I don’t recommend that to everyone but sometimes a classic cute cut will change your entire viewpoint of yourself and your wardrobe ❤
I always LOVE when you dress sloppily then compare it to a more polished version of yourself! What a difference and wakeup call for us to see how a little bit of effort is life affirming, thank you aways for being a positive model! The little bear saying "Send help!" was adorable.
I discovered you in 2021 and you’ve changed my life. Bought the book and everything ❤ I didn’t have an elegant upbringing so this is all my own journey. I look to you as a mentor . I appreciate you more than you know Jennifer
This is my favorite type of content on your channel, Jennifer. My phrase for 2024 is "single task" because I am striving to be more conscious and slow down in general. In particular, it's such a pleasure to eat my meals without reading, watching TV, or scrolling social media. Just like the old days! I feel so much better when I do that. Thanks for making this video!
Do you eat your meals alone? I eat all my meals alone and get lonely so I watch videos or listen to music but with just music my mind goes 100 mph. which is not healthy while eating (even the bird feeder in front of where I eat only helps for a few minutes). What do you do? PS I am disabled and cannot leave my home for meals so any suggestions are welcome. I hope you have a lovely day🌷
@@veggied4life I eat breakfast and lunch alone usually, and have generally read or watched UA-cam while eating. But this year, just sitting and looking out the window while I eat is such a treat. It gives me some built in downtime to think and just relax. It might not work for you, but maybe try just looking out a window while you eat? Just for a few days?
As a 60 yo raised by a Southern mamai have learned all of these tips, but the one I'm continuing to work on is to slow down, and your video is a wonderful reminder. Thank you, Jennifer. xoxo Stacie
An added benefit of tip #2 - I listened to an interview with Chelsea Blackbird last week (Relatable podcast) and she said it is crucial for digestion that we sit down to eat and take a moment to be thankful for the food we are about to eat. Rushing or standing to eat hinders digestion, and can hinder weight loss and our body’s ability to process nutrients.
I'm two weeks postpartum- just had my first baby girl after three boys! I have lived in my husband's tshirts and loose sweatpants for two weeks. I am inspired to continue my search for some nursing friendly dresses to wear during this postpartum season! I feel so much more aware of the example I set around the house now that I'll be raising a girl! Elegance and a love of homemaking is something id love to pass on
💗I absolutely agree, being a homemaker with young children I RARELY leave the house but still feel way better about myself when I get dressed and presentable for my husband when he gets home, both he and my children appreciate when our home and mommy look “pretty” 💕 Also, LOVE your earrings, they remind me of a starry constellation🥰
How many times do my kids call my name where I come rushing over and all they have to say is that they are bothered by their sibling. LOL These tips may seem simple to some but your video is a great reminder to also just slow down and enjoy the little moments!
I appreciate your pointing out that elegance is consciousness and awareness. I'm in a life stage with small children, and I'm trying to find my clothing style while living practically and inexpensively. It's a constantly busy stage with lots of demands on my time and space. I'm a work in progress. Thanks for the tips.
I learn so much from you and this video is no exception! I am 72, and still learning how to be chic and elegant. Luckily I had a mother who provided me with an excellent role model.
I think I found my twin. These are all lessons taught to me by my mother and grandmother. They were right and I try to practice them consciously and consistently ( as much as I can :/ ). Thank you so sooo much for making these videos and inspiring a new generation of elegant calm people ❤
I’m a stay at home/homeschool mom, and it’s way too easy to start slacking with my appearance. You’re such a huge inspiration to me Jennifer to maintain my standards for myself and therefore my family too. Thank you so much :)
What I am hearing is to be conscious of everything you do because your life will be made better. The one thing I am going to start with is to eat with intention so that I will appreciate what I'm eating as well as avoid overeating. Thank you for this video.
I absolutely loved this. Thankyou so much. I am very busy taking care of my husband who has stage 4 bone cancer and I feel like a " ragga- muffin". After looking at this, I will be more aware of taking more relaxing steps etc.
I'm still struggling with dressing well....my yoga pants are so easy to grab! But I do appreciate your perspective and will continue to work on this tip! Thank you! 🌷
Loved this, I needed this reminder. After going through a divorce and getting married with a blended family. I seemed to have lost whatever elegance I had left. I'm on a mission to get back to being elegant.
Jennifer you are so right! I hate to rush! I actually get more done if I move at a slower steady pace. I think it also sets a good example for our children. I love to organize and decorate our home. I think giving God thanks and praise for every day and all his blessings is a beautiful way to start the day. Devotions, music and books are not only calming but bring beauty and art to a home. I am trying to be more conscious of how I dress at home but it is challenging with a very active Golden Retriever puppy. 😊 Enjoying life is elegant ! I love your channel! Have a blessed day! ❤
Jennifer, THANK YOU! I've been watching your content for some time and have enjoyed them all. However, I just completed your book (I know finally, tsk-tsk 😂) and now have a greater appreciation for all you share with us here. I mean, it all makes sense and truly encouraging! My take aways... 1-Do my best to live life as beautifully as I can, it's worth it 2-Less is truly more 3-There's much beauty around me... SEEK IT, ENJOY IT 😊 I look forward to reading your other books.
I love your channel. I’ve always wanted to be elegant and have been drawn to elegance my whole life, but I was not raised that way. If anything, putting effort into being elegant and beautiful was seen as vain and stupid. I struggle because I feel like I have so much to do with 4 children that I homeschool, 2 dogs, and all of the house work. Does anyone have advice on how to move slowly and elegantly but still being about to be effective and get it all done? I really want to work on this because I know my rushing around disturbs my husband.
I'd like to start with I absolutely love your channel! I was wondering if you could do a video on staying classy while having a newborn at home. I have a preschooler and newborn and I'm finding it very hard to stay classy and keep my house classy during this time. I'd love to hear your insight on this!
I'd love to hear about this topic as well. I'm currently 7 months pregnant and am already finding it harder to look polished on a daily basis bc my wardrobe is much smaller at the moment, haha. I'd love inspiration for this after the little one comes!
This is such a lovely video! You are so right about hunching over and having bad posture and becoming less elegant if you don’t consciously remind yourself to slow down and think about it. It is so nice to see such lovely content and to be encouraged to slow down and savor life because it passes way too fast.
I’ve been enjoying crocheting again and making gifts for people. I’m able to listen to either audio books, podcasts or sermons while I crochet, which is so relaxing and enjoyable!
A beautiful reminder to slow down. I've only ever worked in fast paced jobs, so I tend to move at one speed. It's very draining and I no longer love it. Being more conscious of my movements and slowing down sounds like it will be like taking a mini vacation through my daily life. 😊
It would be great to have a video from you with your reccommendations on how to encourage our children to be elegant (in an age appropriate way of course).
Good Morning dear Jennifer! I looooove this SO much!!! Thank you! I feel the tip I need to work on most is elevated relaxation. I literally hide from my kids sometimes, hahah!!! I will be working on making my boundaries firmer and non-negotiable!! I was anxious to see what you had for us after watching Friday's meeting when you said it was a surprise! Well worth the wait! Sending you a big, grateful hug! With love, Kellie
I feel so much more relaxed and focused after watching one of your videos. Im going to turn on some classical music, which relaxes me, and get some housework done. Thank you!!
Jennifer, as a style I dislike your new hairstyle, BUT somehow you really rock it and carry it out with some kind of cutting edge, modern elegance. Love it! You look really pretty and chic.
Every one of these tips are dead on and, at the end of the day, really make a person feel better about themselves. I find that nice sleepwear caps off and begins my days in an elegant way as well. Thank you for this elegant video, Jennifer!
I'm trying to become more elegant. I work from home so I have to make an effort to make sure I dress properly for the day. Its so easy to get sloppy. I've also cut out snaking. You inspire me!
I love this! Thank you:) I have started drinking tea more consciously…even with cream, which I find delicious! It’s so nice to feel elegant even by myself.
How timely! I checked Polishing Your Poise out from the library this past weekend, and have a date with myself tomorrow to find some much needed, pretty, new pajamas. Thank you for your inspiring videos, Jennifer!
This entire video was so inspiring. I loved the advice about looking at yourself as other people would see you when you are moving around and carrying out your daily tasks. This made me stop and think deeply. The way you look and move speak a lot about yourself. Such a great reminder. These type of videos are so inspiring and I greatly appreciate them! I agree with so many of the other wonderful people on this platform in that you are doing a wonderful thing in reminding so many of such a better way of living. Thank you Jennifer! 💖☕📚
Jennifer, I love your videos. You are so adorable. I loved your "sloppy dressing" look and attitude while demonstrating. You reminded me of Joanna Gaines. Have a blessed day, you have blessed mine.
This is a great video! I needed a refresher. I’ve read and reread all your books and follow most all the elegant ways but the last 6-9 months we’ve had family deaths, illness, increased work responsibilities, life…. I needed a reminder of who I want to be! Thank you Jennifer, so happy to have found you years ago. You continue to inspire and energize me ❤
Thank you Jennifer. I have been reading Lessons From Madame Chic and feeling a resonance with simply looking presentable at all times. I have been putting more effort into doing so and I do feel a bit unflappable!
Needed this today. Been doing a lot of dressing in my "cozies"/semi presentable but a little too comfortable, after work. I have work that has been quite intense of late and requires focused attention to many people and situations all day. My evenings have become very sloppy with snacking too. I have been consistent with morning exercise and learning to carry myself well. We always eat dinner at a set table, breakfast also. I am planning to resume IF, at least 16:8. It served me very well.
Thank You Jennifer I'm definitely of the nervous energy type! Very different when I'm at home regarding posture etc . Children do rush us , wonderful tips .

Good for you. I'm sure it's hard, but so worth it.
@@TheDailyConnoisseur Aw so cute, love that!
I adore these lifestyle tip videos. I come back to them routinely to remind me of the life I want to lead. Please continue your much needed work!!
Thank you!
How many times do my kids call my name where I come rushing over and all they have to say is that they are bothered by their sibling. LOL
These tips may seem simple to some but your video is a great reminder to also just slow down and enjoy the little moments!
Same here! 😅
Good for you.
Thank you! Enjoy the journey ♥
I learn so much from you and this video is no exception! I am 72, and still learning how to be chic and elegant. Luckily I had a mother who provided me with an excellent role model.
What a blessing.
That's wonderful. ♥
My mom is amazing as well and I feel like I'll never accomplish half of what she did in her life 😮❤
I had the same thing happen with Real Housewives. I cannot get all those hours back. Great video.
Thank you so much!
Thank you for the Real Housewives comment! Life is too short to deal with that behavior. I too am a reader and I enjoy your vlogs immensely.😃
I like that! Elegance = Consciousness
Watching you laying on the couch with chips is always hilarious Jennifer!
Thank you, DeAnna!
I'm still struggling with dressing well....my yoga pants are so easy to grab! But I do appreciate your perspective and will continue to work on this tip! Thank you! 🌷
It’s so true about mealtimes to be mindful enjoying it. It also helps with digestion, bonus 🎉
Yes! Digestion definitely benefits too! ♥
Loved this, I needed this reminder. After going through a divorce and getting married with a blended family. I seemed to have lost whatever elegance I had left. I'm on a mission to get back to being elegant.
Thank you Jennifer! Charm elegance . It’s a lifestyle a gentle kind way of living. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
I like your definition of elegance - very thought-provoking! Thank you as always, Jennifer!
1-Do my best to live life as beautifully as I can, it's worth it
2-Less is truly more
3-There's much beauty around me... SEEK IT, ENJOY IT 😊
I look forward to reading your other books.
I love how you place the big red "X"-- just in case we're not sure if that is correct etiquette 😁!
😅
What an inspiring video. Your clips of you not in your usual mode are very hilarious. Thank you for always encouraging us just when we need it.
I started to put a tablecloth on the table. So many people noticed it was such a small addition.
I love it!
Wonderful video Jennifer, thank you! ❤
Thank you for watching!
I love this. Thank you, Jennifer!
Have a best blessed week!
Thank you! You too
I'd like to start with I absolutely love your channel!
Worked on my wardrobe next dining etc - love this 🌼
This is such a lovely video!
❤Thank you Jennifer! Wonderful encouragement and reminder.
A beautiful reminder to slow down. I've only ever worked in fast paced jobs, so I tend to move at one speed. It's very draining and I no longer love it. Being more conscious of my movements and slowing down sounds like it will be like taking a mini vacation through my daily life. 😊
You've inspired me to clear up my hotspots today! 😄
Connoisseur Recap: Make your life into a work of art! Couldn't agree more!
Thank you, Jennifer! You are such an excellent example and inspiration to all of us.
Thank you, Luba! I appreciate you!
@@TheDailyConnoisseur 🌹💟
It would be great to have a video from you with your reccommendations on how to encourage our children to be elegant (in an age appropriate way of course).
That b roll always cracks me up
😅
I also schedule my relaxation time. Thanks for validating that!
absolutely Jennifer very true.. being in the now.
I enjoyed reading Madame chic series👏🏽
Good Morning dear Jennifer! I looooove this SO much!!! Thank you! I feel the tip I need to work on most is elevated relaxation. I literally hide from my kids sometimes, hahah!!! I will be working on making my boundaries firmer and non-negotiable!! I was anxious to see what you had for us after watching Friday's meeting when you said it was a surprise! Well worth the wait! Sending you a big, grateful hug! With love, Kellie
Thank you, Kellie! I sometimes hide too!
What was the surprise?
Your earrings are so pretty and great video!
Thank you!
Watching from 🇨🇦
Thank you again for the lovely reminders. I am currently re-reading Polish your Poise with Madame Chic.
Lovely! Thank you, Linda! ♥
I feel so much more relaxed and focused after watching one of your videos. Im going to turn on some classical music, which relaxes me, and get some housework done. Thank you!!
Mission accomplished!
A Great video!! That's one thing I haven't tackled🙁is dressing well everyday. Thank you🩷
Jennifer, as a style I dislike your new hairstyle, BUT somehow you really rock it and carry it out with some kind of cutting edge, modern elegance. Love it! You look really pretty and chic.
Every one of these tips are dead on and, at the end of the day, really make a person feel better about themselves. I find that nice sleepwear caps off and begins my days in an elegant way as well.
Thank you for this elegant video, Jennifer!
I know that "mom, mom, mom". What great advice.
I notice Jennifer drinks a lot of tea. Almost as much as me. 😊
How timely! I checked Polishing Your Poise out from the library this past weekend, and have a date with myself tomorrow to find some much needed, pretty, new pajamas. Thank you for your inspiring videos, Jennifer!
Thank you! I hope you enjoy the book!
I needed this video. Thank you Jennifer.
Ohhh, my, I needed this video.
😂 I had a good laugh of myself... I'm all those x in this video.
Thank you so much.❤
This is a great video!
Thank you for the inspiration, I love these type of videos from you!
Thank you, Heather!
I needed this. Thanks.
Thank you, Jennifer!
I love all the florals in this video. How elegant:)
My subconscious linked elegance with people looking down on others so rebelled as a child. I notice the elegant women and they do stand out .
Looking forward to the 2025 edition!
I love the what not to do reel! I feel like uncouth Jennifer needs a character name or something. 😂
Im desperately waiting for your if update Jennifer! ❤
I love your room with the piano! It's so beautiful that I even stopped the video to take a closer look at it!😍
Great video and guidance today, Jennifer!
Thank You Jennifer I'm definitely of the nervous energy type! Very different when I'm at home regarding posture etc . Children do rush us , wonderful tips .
Jennifer, thank you for sharing this! Such a good insight to link relaxed breath and posture with elegance... you are truly an inspiration 🥂
Thank you, Dr. Chloe! I’m always using your advice! ♥️
I really enjoyed this video. Thank you.
