Very unhappy that I am being required to purchase a new version when I just purchased Start11 a few months ago and have only just received the first (and perhaps last now?) update since purchasing it.
You do get a discount at least if you already purchased it. If you already purchased it you only need to pay about $3 for it compared to those who don't have it for $7.
I would like to have multiple desktop, when user mouse scroll desktop, desktop would scroll on the right or left side. That way we could have one desktop for example games second one for folders-productivity software. This would be silmilar experiance as android desktop.
Can this let me hide the task bar behind full screen windows without having it pop up every time I move the mouse to the bottom of the screen? Like I could with Win XP?
The only feature that would have been very useful to me is for apps on the taskbar to remain just icons (hide labels) and for folders to show labels. This all-or-nothing approach of everything requiring labels makes the taskbar completely fill up and clutter with just a few things open. Hiding labels means open folders on the taskbar require multiple actions just to know which one is which, which is unproductive. This would have been an instant buy for me. Otherwise, I don't personally need any of the features in v2.
A nice feature - if technically possible - would be to have taskbar items numbered (or underneath etc) so that easy to use the Windows keyboard shortcut to open them. Eg the 5th item on the taskbar can be opened with Win 5 but it's a bit inconvenient to count the number of icons and so on
After posting this, I found that if you have Power Toys installed and hold down the Windows key for a second or two it will overlay numbers above the taskbar icons
Found it! It's the "Shortcut Guide", but it's necessary to change the shortcut to enable that behavior. It's even possible to set up different hold times for full guide and for taskbar icon numbers :)
Want to buy this for the taskbar pin feature which seems by far the best thing about it, but it also seems really bare bones at the moment, is it best to wait for V3?
when start menu is so bad you need 3rd party software to make it good. . . . but seriously tho it took them 2 whole years to implement the never combine option.
As a customer who initially purchased Start 11 under the impression that it would include all future updates, I find it utterly unacceptable that you have chosen to release Start 11 2.0 as a separate purchase!! This blatant attempt to force customers to buy the software again for essential updates is both deceitful and unfair. It goes against the basic principles of customer trust and satisfaction. Your decision to segregate necessary features into a new version, essentially holding them hostage behind an additional paywall, reflects poorly on your commitment to customer loyalty.
Glad I didn't buy it yet. I would probably buy it when moving to W11 but I wasn't sure about the updates policy. You clarified it. The price is really low either way (and developers work hard), but yes, I wish it was clear how many years of updates or the type of updates we'd get. I can't find that information anywhere on their website.
This isn't bug fixes though, this is new features...snagit does this yearly. They've got to pay their people. Not to mention the upgrade for people who've already got v1, like me, is only 3 bucks.
This isn't for essential updates. This is for a new set of features. 1.5 will still get essential updates. I just got an update today, and I don't have v2.
Does anyone know if this will start work with Windows 10? For me, I am not moving to Windows 11, because my system doesn't have the hardware support. So, I'm staying on Win10.
I think a feature to show a clock instead of the user icon / or a more minimal appearance near the other tiny icons / or having a sleek clock option somewhere else could make the difference , the clock in the taskbar menu is just not that sleek to look at. Other than that Looks like a great update !
Also, does anyone know if you can have multiple Start Menu's like this. I would like to have one that I open on the Taskbar for just apps or games or something. Then, the other StartMenu is defined (like normal Windows start menu), but it would be in the original place and not much different than how it works. So, basically, can we have more than one version at two different locations around our TaskBar ? [Please, answer if anyone knows. Thank you.]
IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU ADD FEATURES WHERE WE CAN CUSTOMIZE 2 DIFFERENT START MENU AND SWITCH BETWEEN THEM WHEN YOU WANT SO YOU DONT HAVE TO CUSTOMIZE THEM ALL OVER AGAIN

I need customizable colors on the taskbar (under windows-10-style startmenu). Otherwise why would I need 2.0 ?!!! A customizable start menu with colors is unnecessary garbage, and also garbage all styles except windows-10-style since it can be customized however you want, the others are just neutered castrations. And colors well the taskbar is needed, as the eyes should rest at calm colors in monotone and you look at them 100% of the time, if fixed. And the start menu agree less than 1% of the time we spend, if not 0.01% of the time.

You are making Windows better than Microsoft do
Can you increase the size of the taskbar icons to maximize the space? There is still a lot of unused space at the top and bottom of the icons.
You could also disable the mandatory click on the launch icon, and just open it by pointing at the icon.
