When I served, the joke used to be, ‘What drills do the Spetsnaz use for Hostage Rescue? They bring in a Hind gunship and destroy the house.’ They really suck at Hostage Rescue, by United States standards. As Popo's video is a prime example, Spetsnaz are indeed "tough"....but they're like anabolic steroid meat-head stupid tough. @@clshep The basic asvab requirements to enter into two military have been dropped significantly by the Army and Navy. An Asvab of 10 is enough to get in. This is why PMC contracting is replacing conventional specual forces and why the US military is phasing out special forces operations .

As a matter of fact, the first responders didn't know what happened since they were a civilian branch and this was a military operation. Most of these lives could have been saved if not for that small detail.
Thats not a small deatil… if the special operators cannot handle that logistic of having the nessecary medicaments ready, its not a 5 star operation
The special ops are designed to carry out strikes not to arrange logistics.
@@Dylanoberry logistics is the single most important thing in warfare. it's such a fuck up that turned a 5 star operation into what it's seen as today. all hostages could have been saved if they werent on their backs and they was enough narcan
@@macksii I understand the gov could have done more to save the hostages but the spetnaz are not to blame here, they did what they had to do.
@@Dylanoberry yea like the boots on the ground aren't the ones behind logistics but their superiors are responsible for that though
Few channels exist that make content im always hyped for and yall are my personal reason of why UA-cam is such a gem. Stories id know nothing about losers i never heard of and heros whos actions i never heard of or tragedies i was ignorant of. Thanks for helping keeping these stories, legacys and tragedies known
Wow. I can't decide if it was pure ruthlessness or gross incompetence. And, honestly, I'm not sure which would be worse.
A bit of both.
It was mostly incompetence since when the Medics was informed, they bought in Narcan which basically saved the remaining 700 hostages.
That last imagine of the young girl hit me straight in the heart. I have daughters not much younger than she appeared to be. Losing your child has got to be one of the worst pains imaginable. R.I.P to the innocent perished.
“We don’t negotiate with hostages”
Emergency sevices: *drags bodies out of theatre to put in trenches*
FSB: "Hostages? What hostages?"
Spetsnaz Alpha Team squad leader Dmitry at debrief: "Xapow"
dude the tone shift..... gnarly! I had never heard about the outcome and that took me for a ride. 10/10
Well I know what country is not gonna be watching this
probably iran?
Awesome video. Extremely accurate I read multiple books on this siege.
The fact that this was 2002 is crazy
Russia has almost always been evil.
2022, my mistake, it does say 2002
you put so much into these videos and then refuse to do adds, I always click and thumbs up instantly regardless if im interested at the moment. thank you.
Well done. I love how you took a different approach on this. I feel as though most of your videos show how it all can go right. This shows how the other side can happen too.
Definitely! Similar to the Waco video... I like to try and tell it as linear as possible so those hearing it for the first time can sink their teeth in it and get excited, until the issues at the end subvert every expectation they might of had. At least that’s how I think one would feel watching this event unfold live on their TV.
@PopoMedic keep this up man. The only thing stopping you from being one of the biggest creators in this space is the delay between videos. But i see you've been working on that lately. Keep it all up man!
Po po medic strikes again 👏
Thanks for the upload G
I would say 130 death out of 1000 is still pretty acceptable when accounting the large number of hostage getting cramped into a room and they were between a firefight
How many of those 130 deaths were caused by the terrorists vs Russian mystery gas?
You're so underrated, dude. Another killer video.
In the United States, you have to have a specific ASVAB score in order to even be considered for special operations…I'm pretty sure for Spetsnaz, all that is required is for you to be big and strong and love "Mother Russia".
Standards have dropped significantly. Your argument is a fallacy
Yep, just look at what they did during the Beslan Siege
Technically they rescue, it's just more of a casualty recover op. 😂
@@JL-XrtaMayoNoCheese
GS+MC+EI: 170 or higher
VE+MK+MC+CS: 220 or higher
VE+AR: 110 or higher
MC: 50 or higher
Hmm, the scores have dropped since I last served.... But overall, they are above the average ASVAB score.
@@clshep
The basic asvab requirements to enter into two military have been dropped significantly by the Army and Navy. An Asvab of 10 is enough to get in. Logically, this lowering of standards will have an effect on the quality of aspects of the military: mcnamera's morons program and increased recruiting films to bolster numbers.
This is why PMC contracting is replacing conventional specual forces and why the US military is phasing out special forces operations .
I love how even when the videos are sad they're still bangers
Lmao I shouldn't have laughed about the brave lady at 6:49. But the way you delivered it was too funny, she really thought she was the main character.
The second he mentioned the gas I got chills down my spine and realized "IT'S THAT STORY"
I remember going to Finland in 2002 for the WPC world powerlifting championships and watching footage on live tv of inside the building.
Nothing was censored out there, I can remember being shocked. They wiped them out. I remember bodies hanging upside down on tv.
Remember the images on German TV when Russian officers walked around in the theatre and began to covered up dead people with blankets and carried them out on trenches. It was so dramatizing. I was like 11 at that time. Surreal images.
Beslan was pretty terrible too. They were doing horrible stuff to kids and it was being filmed by the news
I just wanted to thank you for advertising Aura! It saved me tbh. I made sure to use your link as well.
Oh, and thanks for all of your amazing content! Your videos are my favorite on YT!
That woman who decided she could solve the situation herself? This is what that "positive vibes only" shit gets you. 🤦😄
damn rip to the kids and other innocent lives lost in this event, very informative video Popo Medic
Not trying to dismiss or defend an obvious goat rope of an operation, because it did become a dumpster fire, but hostage rescue as a whole is and always has been a seriously low percentage endeavor.
Successful rescues always have been the exception rather than the rule.
Great video as always. I remember this and I totally forgot that there were that many hostages, I do remember the death toll though.
Sucks your other video had to be taken down, but at least I got to watch it before it was taken down. Keep up the good work.
BTW there is a video called "Interview with Alpha Group operator after the assault on Dubrovka NORD-OST" where a Alpha Operator walks through the theatre and explains what they did there.
Another awesome video. I don't know how your account isn't bigger, but thanks. I always appreciate when you upload.
Islam at its finest yet again.

Russia seems to not understand what special means... Special Forces, Special Operations... etc...
And how many special operations you have been part of or in charge off?

Yeah! You try to invade an democratic nation hypocrite! It’s hard!
Special military operations are the most special of all specialties. When they want your country / region, they have special surprises.
Okay tough guy 😂
It's always a good day when Popo Medic uploads!
Spetnaz: Hostages? Did you mean acceptable casualties?
I've been watching your videos the last two years and your growth as a channel and the production have been really cool to watch. Hope to see more content more often. 🤙
This is what the beginning of the movie "Tenet" is based on.
Tenet, a very bad propaganda film that tries to look like an artsy action film. Its total slop.
I like that there is stories from other countries on your channel which in my opinion sets it apart from the others. Keep up the good work and just an FYI I was sent here by donut operator three years ago and would love to see another collaboration.
You need to involve in such operations to understand the risk. Its hard when other have nothing to lose, while you have everything to lose. All the hostages would have been lost though if the bomb had been triggered...what many dont consider.
Hell yeah, morning coffee with the latest popomedic video.
When you’re a hostage and Special Forces come to rescue you but they’re…

good episode, but the music was brutal.
Popo got me groovin' to the synth wave he uses just like Hotline Miami does
We need to see some GWOT stuff next
Maaan... I remember this. I followed it as much as I could. None of my friends cared. I was glued to the news.
As someone who loves history, the history of the USA and happened to dive into late Russian Empire, the USSR, Warsaw Pact and the Russian Federation, it is refreshing to see someone empathize with the Russian people in terms of the leadership that they so undeservingly have to tolerate.
I love America, but we’re being run by Zionists. Russia is at least trying to defend itself, while Americans bicker over politics.
You put real production value in your videos keep up the great work your contents different and awesome and I love learning new things whenever it comes to these videos I ain't heard about a bunch of this stuff and it's always interesting
