- Today my wife Heather and I build a homemade sandblaster to continue the rebuild on our 1985 Ford F150 pickup truck. This sandblaster is made from an old 30lb propane tank and some other junk we had laying around.
Wow that's pretty cool you made your own sandblaster thank you for the video
Your homemade sandblaster machine is very interesting and seems to work well. I am really concerned about the safety issues that you are ignoring. Safety glasses helmet, shield and for goodness gracious a proper breathing safety mechanism is a must. Silicosis is one of the serious hazards of sand blasting.
Good job on building the sandblaster very smart for sure you guys have a great week
You remind me of my dad he once built a air compressor out of an old propane tank piping andan old freezer compressor built it in the mid 70’s and I tried it when cleaning out the garage after he passed in 2017 still worked perfectly
good job!
...good job bush bunnies, it's been a blast...lol... keep safe.... Bob..
Simply Awsome you are multi talented Heather I hope your eyes are ok be careful and both of you keep on at it
Hi Heather & Cecil. Great sand blaster. Will stop a lot of grinding. I think you can turn your hand to anything. Take care. :-))
Love your videos and enjoy watching them. May the lord bless and protect you and Heather and working on the homestead and restoring the truck
Heather, an old welders trick is to cut sliced potatoes to fit over your eyes and a wet washcloth on top to relieve arc flash. Also ASNI clear safety glasses have a UV coating to also help with a stray arc flash.
Good Morning......A sand blaster sure makes things easier.....hope you guys have a Great day....
Awesome. You can also sandblast wood, like on some of your wood projects, it gives it an interesting look.
You might need some of that junk somtime . You don't have to go to town and buy it . If you can find it . Good job finding that Heathe , While Cecil was talking .
Nice job on the sandblaster. You are very patient at your work 👍❤️
Nice sandblaster I once learned from a old time welder when you get flash burn use the juice from a potato 🥔 it works pretty good
Sand blasting has the be the worst job to do.. I hate doing it, the sand gets everywhere. For the bigger jobs I just send it out to a local place who does it all blast and paint ..
The home made sandblaster works good . I used a sand blaster at two jobs . Yours works just lke those two sandblaters .
Recycle reuse make it new to you.
Really enjoyed the video, shows to always save parts to save time and money
👍👍🇩🇰🇩🇰☕️☕️😁
Good job it worked.😊
Sand blasting will do an excellent job cleaning the rust but expensive for something you will never see again.. I have done lots of rust work.. I would have opted to clean the crud off with an angle grinder with a wire wheel and paint over it with rust converter paint....
keep an eye out for wear on your nozzles, thats an issue Project Brupeg encountered with their sand blaster (mind you they were sand blasting a 60 foot trawler) basically anywhere the sand goes can be subject to wear (if it takes the rust and paint off your part, then it can wear the inside of the sand blaster just as easily.)
take care.
Me I would concentrate on the Floor and Rear Cab and Rocker Panels and get all that cleaned up and repair it first. That is the main part and it is not an easy task. BTDT a bunch of times. Then cheap Primer Gray or Black. You have a lot of welding and fitting to do. It should not be too hard to repair that Cab and get the truck in good running condition. I have restored many old cars and sand blasting helps speed up the process. I have done some Farm Machinery and put a good coat of paint on them and a 48 Chevrolet Master Deluxe Business Coupe that needed floor pans when I restored it. My first car. The floors looked like your Cab Floor. It is not that hard just takes time. That will make you a good Truck. Stay on it until you get it running. You need a truck really bad to haul materials. Good video thanks.
I'm bad for starting projects, then leaving them aside, until I scrounge what I need to continue them for free, really cheap, or like you say until I need them. god bless and cheers guys

Works brilliant but watch you don't blast the orange paint of rails .
never do that without a approved breathing system. that material never leaves your lungs and sinuses.
You’ve not lived till you wire brush your finger.
Hi. Terry is right. Do not use this without full protection. Being sick for the rest of your life is not worth it. Mike

Hello James, yeah...no need to spend money we don't have on simple tools I can make easily. Cheers!
Great video as always keep them coming
Hello Andrew. Thank you...I will do my best. Cheers!
Nice sand blaster. You must be exhausted when you are done for the day with all the extra steps that you do lol
Hello, thank you very much. On a slow day like this we generally put in about nine thousand steps..on a busy day we do about twenty thousand steps. Thanks again. You have a great day. Cheers!
Hi both of you
Good job buddy!
Turned out great buddy, well done 👍🏻
Hello my friend. Thank you very much. You have a great evening. Cheers!
Cecil do you hunt for meat on your property? Love watching your making something from nothing to save money. Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without.
Hello Bill, yes we hunt every fall..we just don't post any videos of it as I don't think it would be very popular these days :-( Thank you..you have a great evening. Cheers!
@@SkinnersOffGrid I understand you got to follow the UA-cam guide lines. Too many butt hurt people would be complaining about it.
You got that right. Cheers!
👍👍👍
Good morning James. Thank you.
how boring this is
