For many years, about 29, I lived in a US city that was 50% Armenian. Glendale, in Los Angeles. The Armenians had a genius for auto repair. The Mediterranean foods were lovely and Armenians were decent folk. Thanks, I may move there yet.
Under $400 a month is actually quite cheap; for a 1 bedroom apartment in an urban area. Also for around $1,000 a month for two people to live; rent included, is pretty cheap.
@vincent4810, Yes, it seems reasonable to me too. However, there is no set cost of living for everyone. The fact that one person can live on a certain amount does not mean that another person can live on that amount. The only way to know what your expenses would be is to go there and pick where you are going to live, eat, drink, and entertain yourself and add it all up. You must do an exploratory visit with your feet on the ground before you will know your cost of living. Thanks for watching and commenting on the video. Dan
There is some sad history there, but it is good to see that the last few decades have generally been good for Armenians. One fascinating fact is that there are only six true alphabets in common use around the world today. Most writing systems are abjads, abugidas, or logagraphies. But two of the six are Armenian and Georgian. It's nice that you've been to both places now. The countries share a border, but their alphabets look nothing alike!
Cool. ❤these videos. Armenia has never been on my radar, so I watched out of curiosity. Seems like a lovely place. I guess it's kind of off the beaten track and not an obvious destination.
I feel as if I've been spoiled by you SEA reports. Armenia reminds me of the month I just endured in Puglia, IT. The phrase "Twice the price and half as nice" comes to mind. Compared to SEA the apartments seem old, dark and no pool or gym!!! Who can live like that??? I know, sounds dramatic. Are you missing your life in SEA yet?
It is much cheaper in smaller towns. Thanks for your thoughts @antiWhiteism777. Personally, I have decided not to buy real estate overseas and I give a few reasons why in this video along with reasons some people should buy (in this report): vagabondbuddha.com/why-retired-expats-should-not-buy-real-estate-overseas/ Thanks, Dan
It looks nice, but I would be worried that Putin might try to invade as part of his effort to rebuild the Soviet Union. Have they joined NATO yet? Might be a smart move on their part.
Can you explain. 'Immigration asked you what is the plate number of the mini van arrived in'. Didn't you get off a plane, or you took an overland transport into Armenia. And why would you know the plate number?
We took a minivan for about $20 USD from Tbilisi to Yerevan. So no flight number. All of that data is in the report at first link above. I heard the immigration official ask the guy in front of me what the license plate of the minivan was that we came in on. I was surprised to hear that question. So I looked out the window to my right and saw the plate number of the van we came in on. Odd set of circumstances that have never happened before in any of my past land border crossings. Great question.

I've seen it before. In the first 3 minutes, the videos are showing the same ones that showed one or two minutes ago. That really bugs me. You are repeating the same videos of walking through towns that we just saw. Not very imaginative. I stopped watching. You do that often enough to bug me.

Dan is a hard worker - great content
Yerevan and Tbilisi look amazing. Again, let’s hope these gems don’t become Californicated. I’d like your take on Albania as I hear is another gem.
Thank you.
Dan Experiments with Understatement: "Armenia does not have a peaceful history". Love you buddy and your first hand reports on the scene right now!!
Wow!!! What a tragic history…BUT…what a resilient people.

True. :-)
Totally Awesome Option!!
Can't wait to visit Armenia. Looks pretty nice.
I would love to see you do Algarve Portugal.

At 12:25 - that's a large margin greater than in Miami. In Miami, close to 1% of the population can speak English.
Tongue in cheek?

We are slow travelers. We enjoy the entire world.
Must have a golf course with reasonable membership fees. Thanks for these videos you two work well together.
Thanks for the idea.
I would love to see all your higher usd costs for all assessments you do in 2024 at the end of 2024
@VagabondAwake --- What about smaller towns, instead of this city? How much is buying a house with small amount of land for animals?

Hey Dan hey Qiang, many years ago doing the DNA sequencing as an outlier, I thought it was hilarious that my DNA shows
1% Armenian... 😮🎉....🤪🙏🏻
Can you also add when tipping is expected and what is expected? Thanks
If you have the chance, go to the Soviet Club. The owner is super cool.
We left about 2 months ago. :-) Traveling around Eastern Europe.

Georgia is between Armenia and Russia. So don't put down roots and you would have months to move to greener pastures.
@@VagabondAwake Yeah, you'd want to stay on top of current events over there.
Correct. Armenia will be invaded by Russia very soon. Georgia is also on the line. Thank you for following world events

How soon?
I would prefer European life more than Asian life.
Rent seems high 🤨🤨
Thanks for your thoughts!
Can you comfortably get by in English?
We did. :-)
Young people yes. Old people no. But most restaurants and cafes you will be fine
I just need affordable European country to live out the rest of my life quietly
What is the language?
Armenian. Some speak English
Is this possible?

I get 1109. A month
Yes, but I would recommend looking at living in one of Yerevan's suburbs. In a couple years, I think the rents will lower.

You remind of a guy that got picked on in school all the time.
Thanks for your thoughts.
