the burning windmill is a picture taken on the Isle of Lewis when the threat of the windfarms on the Lewis moors was very much alive. So the islanders built a massive wooden wind turbine, covered it in petrol and burnt in to make a statement that they did not want their land ruined by wind turbines
What a profound and interesting song though not all of us descendants of the gael are asleep as it states. Maybe one day Jesus Christ will restore the language of the gael to the majority of it's global descendants as he will return and restore all things so why not gaelic, runrig certainly makes it a beautiful sound and encourages us to try to learn it. Scottish gaelic is a blessing and a treasure not a burden to be left to die.

Doesn't it still go on?
bhidio mhath
Just googled the lyrics of this - last verse:
"The Gael has gone to bed
The Gael is asleep
It is with difficulty that we will rise from our slumber"
Shows why you shouldn't use Google translate. Removes a lot of the flavour from it.
anyone got a reference to the picture of the burning windmill?
That was not "The last of the Clan".
If you like this music, you should read these Marion Zimmer Bradley novels: The Heritage of Hastur & Sharra's Exile
