I remember seeing 1959 GM factory footage putting front and rear seats in on the assembly line. I noticed wrinkles in the corners pretty bad actually on new seats. You did a great job on your rear seat you could of taught them how to cover seats have you ben around back then,LOL!..

Now you don’t ever see anyone with it. The few you come across, I instantly think, “oh, you had the upholstery done in the late 2000s, didn’t you?”

You are a great builder next time a tip you might like on strengthering wire bend a 90 ON THE END 4 OR 5 INCHES LONG AND WHEN YOU TIE IT IN TO Opposing wire it will give entire structure strength and wire cannot slide through Hog rings
I bought a 64 Dodge 440 2 Door Hardtop a few weeks ago and someone had done both front and rear seats and really done a bad job foaming under the covers and now it’s all loose and drooping so I’m going to try this method on it when this icy weather here in Texas gets out of here.
Wow! Excellent work! Looks great. I tried to use Ciadella, but with my 68 Chevelle bucket seats, they ended up being about twice as high as original. :( Will have to find someone else a little more affordable. Not building a show car, just a driver. Love your videos!
Man what timing,I’ve been work on my back seat the past 3 days, restored the springs and added the 3/16 cross rods made a difference.My 55 is a 2dr sedan Bel Air and the back seat bottom is 64 inches and tight as tractor nuts😩I tore the vynal on the old side panels (homemade) getting the seat out.I’m confused on if the Bel Air back side panels need more clearance to fit.Do you know if the sedan Bel Air has the same panels as the Hardtop?Thanks for the info I enjoy your channel and keeping up with the progress Greg in Branson
Great Video. 2 questions: did you follow same process for the seat bottom as the back? Complete novice here, should I consider buying (pricy $390) seat foam kit or build my own like you did?
You may tie your ends down already but it is hard to do with rings alone with a bend on both ends it takes a lot to slip. And if I am giving you bogus information sorry for bothering you again you Sir are fantastic car builder
Did you sand blast the springs? Mine are kinda rusty, so I want to clean them up and spray them down with some rust inhibitor. By the time they rust again, I will be a tombstone. ;)

Rick, will 1/2" sew foam take up the slack on your buckets?

Foam them yourself. Same process on bottom

Hope u see this message I was wondering what type of carpet did u use to replace the burlap
it's carpet from an automotive upholstery supply. It's used on boats, RV's, etc. It does not have a back on it like moulded auto carpet.
Pink foam is called Scrim.
