Very interesting. It never fails to amaze me how most great musicians never really lose 'their' sound, even if they don't play as much as they did during their prime years. The touch, the vibrato, and tone, its easy to recognize Dez's playing from P's; and I imagined that's why P had Dez play the solos on LRC, and it worked perfectly. Respect to Dez, and RIP to the Purple One.

Dez's voice reminds me of Brian Blevins, a classmate of mine from my days at the Maryland School For The Blind (1998-2002). Dez sounds like a sweet guy! I'd sure love to meet him one day, as Prince was, still is, and will always be one of my favorite guys!

True! Let's be honest people: he's butchering the solo here - it sounds like my 14 year old cousin who just found the tab online half hour ago, and goes: "hey check this Prince solo out.... oh, sh#t, let me start again.... fck, don't go.... I've got it now... etc, etc...." But!! There's absolutely nothing wrong with that considering the guy obviously hasn't played it in years and is brave enough to give it a go to try and please the people present. Just let's not be pretending is all.... no need for it.
That was the solo but it must have been ran through a different sounding amp and possibly a different fender because it sounded a little twangy and he played it just a touch slower but that was definitely the solo

The original guys should be inducted in the Rock& Roll Hall Of Fame . DEZ , ANDRE, BOBBY Z, DR. FINK and LISA.

For me the best version of this solo is Miko tokyo 90'
I always thought Miko was Prince’s best guitarist. Dez can shred but Miko can shred and also play a nasty rhythm.
