- The Finals Twitch Rivals tournament will bring a huge amount of viewership to the game and The Finals developers made a great decision before the event. The Finals developers Embark Studios removed the requirement for new players to play a game mode called Terminal Attack before playing the game’s core mode Cash Out. Cash Out is an incredibly unique and fun game mode and it was really confusing decision to people in The Finals community who want this game to succeed.
In this video I talk about The Finals Season 3 and what the game needs moving forward to take the finals to the next level. The Finals leaderboard works by playing the most not necessarily by being the highest skilled player.
The Finals player count in Season 3 has peaked so far at just over 31,000 players on steam charts. The Finals Twitch Rivals could bring a large influx of players to the game so The Finals could be about to get a lot more players.
To play ranked in the finals you can only play terminal attack, so the return of cash out ranked is so important to get this game attractive to more competitive fps players out there.
The finals reddit on r/thefinals was on fire after Embark Studios decided to remove ranked cash out and make 3 games of terminal attack a requirement for new players. The removal of this requirement hopefully hints to ranked games of tournament returning to The Finals game.

Thank God they changed it. I tried to play with a friend who was new but we had to play 3 rounds of Terminal attack and they didn't like the game... That was pretty frustrating

Yes they're disrespectful but honestly as a designer and developer, they're amazing giving their feedback and being so passionate. Better to have people be so angry at certain changes to your product than have nobody care about it at all, if that makes sense
And they're genuinely doing amazing, for a game studio's first release, they've delivered such a stand out experience. Ive had so much fun with this game, no matter what the future holds I am confident I will be nostalgic for the finals long after its gone.
They probably did that as an experiment to see what the retention/engagement is like for new players in a new mode. It's a lot cleaner of a test than having existing players play a new mode.
This was my read. I tried the game a few months after release, and I was getting melted in 1 second from players with all the good stuff and gameplay and map knowledge. It was not a nice experience at first. I think this was to give new players a less hectic start where everyone is learning.
The Finals was a breath of fresh air when it released, its still a great game to play now, but ideally you need 2 buddies that are as into it, solo que ranked can be brutal, 2 bad games/teammates and I rage quit, I main the Heavy class, played it so often i'm usless with any other class now.

It’s funny because I feel solo is better sometimes friends aren’t as good and ransoms can be really good and helpful to the team but it’s a 50 /50

When i played the game 1st time in OB i immediately thought: "Omg it would be insane if on some not 'The International' or 'Major' level tournaments amount of money team takes from the tournament depends on how much money they actually cashed out (they can just reduce amount of money in vaults and moneylose percent per wipe so it would be not so expensive to do)"

The mode they should push for the casual audience is Quick Cash. It's a bit easier to understand than Cash Out & there is less coordination needed.
It gives you most if not more of the action of Cash Out with a lower barrier to entry.

Absolutely love playing the finals and I’ll probably stick to it for a long time . I tend to focus and play only one or two games i like, and finals is absolutely one of it . Played Apex before, but was not good at it . But i was able to improve a lot in finals and have more fun since more of my friends play it . We have a 5 man squad . I really hope more and more people join the community and experience the fun. Looking forward to its future. Also Will love your vids .

They still screwed up with Season 3, big time. The ranked point system is very flawed. On average, when I win I get between 200-400 points, but when I lose, it's between 400-1000 points. That makes it quite hard to progress. Last night, we played against a team with one gold player and four players still in placement matches. The gold player had an aimbot, not even trying to hide it, and we lost 7 to 4 rounds, which ended up costing us 1300 points! I've also seen top players lose points even when winning a ranked match.
The fact that they changed the ranked game mode to Terminal Attack is also frustrating. I used to play ranked with two buddies or solo queue, but now you need five players on a team. If we play all three, we can carry most rounds, even when our teammates are absolutely lost, but solo queuing and hoping for four somewhat decent players is next to impossible. And don't get me started on the number of cheaters right now. My estimate is that there's a cheater in every fifth lobby I play in, at least, and that is me discounting extremely suspicious players I'm only 99.9% sure are cheating.
Until they fix the ranked point system, we are not playing this game. And if and when they do, it comes down to the number of cheaters to determine if it's even worth it. I'm sad because we had a blast the first two seasons playing this game, ranking to Diamond. But now, it's just frustrating... which reminds me I didn't even complain about the LH1. Oh well. I hope they fix these things because I genuinely want this game to succeed and be fun to play

Surprised more streamers aren’t playing it more. Seemed like there was a lot of excitement, especially with players you were playing with Will, and then they dropped it. Personally I can’t get enough of it.
That's cause everyone finally woke up and realized that cod sucks. It's been copy and paste crap for a few years now and then they went woke.
Without pro gamers, it's hard for a game to take off now days. It also still needs a few touches and imo they need to remove cross play or give consoles kbm capabilities.

Can't play this game.. i'm on ps5 and i started to play it but evertime i walk out of a building, the sunshine makes it inpossible to see anything. Enemies are allways somewhere above me and as soon as i look up, the shine blur takes over the whole screen
The things people usually talk about with this game is steam charts, and sadly don’t recognise that it is on ps5 and Xbox, and that their are tens of thousands of players on those platforms, and the devs have said that they have not dropped from 300k DAU since season 1 (correct me if I’m wrong on that) but the message I’m trying to get across is that steam is not the only platform for the game 👍

In cash out when a team caps the box it should add time to the timer , and each time it gets changed it adds less and less time each time so that if you lose it you still may have 3 fights or so to try again , currently it feels like you have two fights and that’s it
We DO know… and it’s sucks, the “data” will tell them that ppl are playing power shift way more but they don’t know how to change it for ranked

Absolutely agree with ya Will - official competitive ESports Tournaments will allow more MVP's and Hall of Famers to emerge. This game needs its own rising star like Faker or Ninja.
I disagree that they should focus on comp. They have a beautiful sandbox and should focus on wacky crazy shit. I want to play propane tank dodgeball. I want a giant ferris wheel that can be taken of its hinges. I want goo gun only gamemode. And comp can be there somewhere on the side for people that like a shiny symbol.
Yeah overly focusing on the godforsaken "eSports" competitive element is a great way to kill the game. Nobody wants another Counter Strike

It they want to grow they have to implement simples games modes such as : TDM or Domination. The final looks good but a New player Will find it too complex. Reduce the map sizes, make 6 vs 6 TDM or Domination is all the need to succeed

Agree. This game needs a mode where you can turn your brain off and not have to rely on your team as much to win. It wouldn't "save the finals," but it would help
The game is great, but solo play sucks. Everyone knows that. So what i think happens is that new players hop on and have fun. However. because of the bad solo play. These players lose interest before they can convince their friends to try it too.
With a mode like TDM. Players have a way to engage with the game while alone, without needing to rely heavily on your team to win. As well as being able to experiment with weapons and gadgets without the notion that doing so is a huge detriment to your team.
Essentially. Its easy, solo viable fun in game. that you can have while you try and convince your buds to play.
An original and impressively good idea, makes a ton of sense. Gamers specially the younger ones adhere to famous players, they like them and try to be like them, these players form communities and shape the general vibe for the game, they're literally influencers for the gaming communities, so it is so valuable to create such players and enable them, because they are a form of marketing thats ten times more effective than regular marketing.
I think if this game took more of a halo route putting game modes like griffball infected etc if you could make all these games modes in customs games and have a community of different gamemodes/user maps it could be crazy!!
Legit I hope the devs are taking the feedback positively and this outcry showcases how much love and care The Finals has developed - i only wish the best for this games future the gameplay is original and addicting love it and here to stay!
Even if they wanted to get new players to play only TA it would suck because it doesn’t let you use things unless you’ve unlocked them. Unless they changed that with the new season
I'm happy they decided that you can play turnaments without losing any ranking points. Just to achieve a better rank with grinding.
In my opinion a thing that the game still needs is a kill cam where you can see how you died and have the ability to report cheaters.

Sometimes I think Embark simply annoys the playerbase just to "listen to us" afterwards and be recognized as a "dev team that listens to the community".
I refuse to believe that they thought TA Ranked REPLACING Cashout Ranked would be fine. Why can't we have multiple Ranked modes, like Rocket League.

Best take I ever seen/heard 💯 Cashout is unique, it’s the pillar to the success imo, I stream this however not anymore, I like the older cashout ranked system. This game should be esports etc like you’re saying, the game should be focused on competitive play, that way casuals just play and learn how to have fun and enjoy the experience and grow as a player is better than changing a ranked system for new players… no more watering down embark. You already took away c4s/breach charges
No cashout ranked is what turned a lot of the original fanbase away

its not a turn off the devs wants to cater 3 man to 5 man team, its a very good decision tbh, just a mode cash out is kinda stale really quick, it cant cater the majority of players who has many friends.

This has easily became my new favorite game & It's the most fun I have had other than playing Zombies on cod the first time with the homies. I buy the battlepasses & skins / cosmetics because they deserve it for having this game playable for free!

I remember showing this game to my friend on his PS5 because this game is downloaded really fast. IT WAS A DISASTER.... I mean he was playing on a freshly made account lv1. He was playing against such bad/new players (or bots idk) that the gameplay was super slow and boring as hell with almost no destruction. He was like bro this is boring af and I don't blame him. I wish I could've shown him the heights of this game play

Terminal is actually good, I love it, it's a CoD alternative. The previous game modes like Cashout is not really for me, and I almost deleted the game because of that, thankfully it got an update.
In my mind Terminal Attack isn't The Finals. It's a game mode from another game. Why it's even part of the game I do not understand. I've never played it and I never will. Now that World Tour is a thing I'll actually start playing competitively. I like fast paced chaotic games not slow and sit around after you die.
Between The Finals and Xdefient I think more game modes are necessary. Both have strict objective based game modes. But I think both games need simple point, shoot, move repeat modes. It's what helps ranked modes and rank itself matter more.
Emphasis on real skill and personal skill and abilities. Forcing random people together on a team, then punish that losing team for having a weak link. Especially because of the personal loadout functionality of The Finals.
Sure objective modes are good, they are necessary too. But rank should be about your personal skill. Especially when playing with randoms. Both games listed above have simple gameplay, but don't utilize it to its full potential.

This allows the dev team to focus and polish on creating official and competitive maps for their e-sports ranked mode for the competitive driven community to compete for cash tournament prizes
I feel like terminal attack was meant to draw in some CS and Valorant players like myself, I have hours and hours on both, and trust me, I don’t mind it as a mode, but having it as the main ranked mode is kinda questionable… if I wanted to play search and destroy, I’d just play cs, but I want to play cashout with other people who care about winning in ranked, and it just feels like if they keep going in this direction, it’ll lose a lot of its uniqueness.. the game is all about “can you reach the finals” not “can you reach terminal attack” xD

This is a minor fix for people that think it’s a good fix. It’s not a good fix doesn’t matter. The problem is is that the loyal money paying players are the ones that are complaining and ranks you don’t want this game mode for rent. It’s not competitive it takes too long, and there’s no teamwork and it’s filled with lights
I wish they use powershift for new players since it's the perfect mode to just try out their loadout.
Game needs optimization.. runs like shit honestly. Avg 110-140fps on the lowest settings doesent feel good to play. Game is fun af though

I immadiately realized why I deleted this game as soon as I re-installed it today. My teammates pick light class I can't even play with them as a heavy they just run fast and get one shot. This game is designed for premades. There is no way to win a game against coordinated Discord premades.

I'm not sure if I really think a tournament scene would bring attention to the finals. I honestly don't find it to be very spectator friendly. I think the most fun part of the game - chaos, destruction, fast pace - is not good for viewing. CS is much slower paced and much easier to consume because there isn't THAT much going on. I think the cash out game mode does create some really insane moments, so maybe that will help, but I'm not sold on the idea. What do you think @WillfromWork

This game is awesome, I have friends who stream it and they play as one character. So one person controls the keyboard and the other controls the mouse. They honestly play great. There called "AllbrawnsNobrain" they want to grow this game more than any other game!
