I think they are trying to get the modding community to do that

Also, exploring your first empty moon might be interesting, or at least novel. After doing it 10 or more times like Bethesda expects you to do the novelty wears off and it becomes boring. That was even true about the Moon landings. How many people remember anything about the Apollo 15-17 missions? Most people had stopped paying attention or wanting to watch them, because it had become almost routine.
No Mans Sky did good by being able to traverse the planet with the spaceship at low altitudes so you could travel long, uninhabited distances. I wish they had that in Starfield

From Skyrim to Starfield is still a crazy degradation for a game studio. I suspect half of Bethesda underwent divorces and/or drug and alcohol addictions.

What you're describing is the pacing of the gameplay experience. Designers, namely level designers, typically take great consideration in how far we're asking you to walk between objectives for this exact reason.
Like you said, this is why during that walk we'll add a narrative beat, a combat encounter, a traversal puzzle. Just.. you know... SOMETHING interesting so you aren't just holding down W.

@@OutLanderUSNhe's right though. This is a flat moon Kyle is on. Other planets have a LOT of verticality and Flore/fauna. Using a vehicle would be impossible on many worlds. It would be cool as an option, but you definitely wouldn't take it everywhere.
@@SevereOutcast Cool. It should be an option, specifically for these flat planets. And if it's modifiable, it could even be used on the less flat ones.
Why not just let us fly our ships around the surface like No Man's Sky.
The fact that some people actually bought this piece of shit dumpster fire for full price after all the shit they pulled after Skyrim is criminal
If you stop giving them money, they stop doing this shit.
People keep preordring this type of rubbish just because they're AAA developers are just.. idiotic, stupid moron, no excuse.
No that won't work, ya know. Blackrock will make sure the "games" keep coming.
@worm343 not buying those "games" still results in you not dealing with it.

Bruh! "A weird little radroach over here, then a baby in the trash but it's actually a grenade." Spot on! Good stuff, man! 😅👍🏻 haven't played this, but it looks quite monotonous! 😂
watching this and getting flashbacks to playing the mako missions in Mass Effect 1, which is funny because even that game had the decency to give you a CAR
Never pre-order games people.
I did this one time with Anthem. Never again will I pre-order.
Never preorder from AAA developers. The smaller studios who still have passion for creating a good game still need the support.
Especially Bethesda games
I would say know the quality first
I almost never pre-order, but I did for tears of the kingdom. No regrets there.
I preordered talos principle 2 and I don't regret it :)
This game should have an alarm sound when you reach your destination so you can awaken from your nap and take the tape off the controller movement stick.
Is there no autorun feature like fallout and elder Scrolls?
@@WhiteGearedsadly that is PC only.
@@WhiteGearedThere is, but you'd still need the alarm to wake you up at the destination
@@clowncargaming8046 Actually... I don't want an alarm. I'd rather keep sleeping...
@@gmzogga In starfield you might as well keep sleeping, I don't dream usually but even then my sleep is more eventful than the game
There'd a reason it wasn't called "Star Lotsa-stuff", its bc the worlds are empty fields haha.

“Most Innovative Gameplay Award”
Legendary troll
Well earned, I'd say! Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, says innovation like making one of the most interesting genres to have ever existed boring!
@@thedominator5620 I still think people who pre-ordered this are suckers who will pay for anything whenever Bethesda says "open world" or "go anywhere you wanna go"
@@vapingfury4460 Never could understand pre-orders, myself. I am fully prepared for Elder Scrolls 6 to be a long wait for procedurally-generated trees and maybe gameplay, assuming that isn't all just the same radiant quests. Fallout 4 burnt me hard, and I even waited for it to go on sale.
umm i pre-ordered but i didnt pay full price.@@vapingfury4460
My favorite was when Bethesda developers took to Steam comments to argue with players that it "wasn’t in fact boring".
What did they say in response to that?

If they use this idea to create a huge fallout map that connects the wastelands it would be amazing if done right. Like using the nuke cola train to get to nuka world. Idk it be cool if they used the war as a gameplay factor. Like the Chinese are invading the mainland or Russia something.
"Thered be a baby in a trashcan thats actually a grenade" is a pretty good summary of the weird wasteland.
It's also actually a thing in Fallout 3 lmao. At least, they have fake babies that blow up in carriages, dunno about garbage bins.
Are the trash babies ever not grenades?
@azbag1906 sometimes you get a “Infant” item and you need to turn it in at a settlement for Karma. Just spam “Interact” on the carriages when close.
"Listen to the cool radio." I'd completely forgot the radio station and he is right. Why isn't there a intergalactic radio station
Yeah the game is too serious
because all the budget went into making vast empty expanses and pointless radiant fetch quests, like hell were they going to commission or license any actual _songs_
They'd need to think of a lore friendly idea of how you can transmit at high speeds, because those star systems are tens of lightyears apart. It would take years for a signal to travel. Then again, the premise of the game makes no sense to begin with: a bunch of Earth like habitable planets with only 1 city on them and the rest is empty. Then you have hundreds of hostile hellscapes that for some reason have "abandoned" habitats on them, fully functional and populated by some "bad guys" who are bad just because the game needs them to be. Seems to be FUCKTONS of good, unsettled land in the Settled Systems, yet 3 groups of badguys™ just decided they wanna spend their whole lives in spacesuits on some deserted infernos of frozen rocks with nothing on them and just harass random people who also visit those deserted infernos or frozen rocks for ... reasons I guess.
Why bother?
Having radio stations would not make this game good, anyway.
@mrkiky considering they have FTL capable ships, they should be able to bullshit space magic a reason why long distance communications are more feasible, especially one way radio broadcasts not expecting an instant response.
How I feel exactly. The only thing I could think of while I was running from marker to marker, was the bike you get in GTA San Andreas, and how it would fix half the issues with exploration in starfield, not the rest of the issues though, their is no fixing those.
Oh can you end up with a gameplay loop like this with that much experience in videogames... This is insane...
This won the Steam Award for "Most Innovative Gameplay" btw
That was a troll nomination
Yeah, the Steam Awards were the lastest 4chan prank
How? How???
@@AvreeL89 Steam awards are player-voted and they give (aesthetic, because we can't have real loyalty programs in 2024) rewards.
A lot of people played Starfield, as such more people, in absolute terms, enjoyed starfield than the other finalists. And even the ones who didn't would probably rather vote for a game they played.
Starfield has 60% positive reviews; however, that's still 85 thousand. Remnant 2, the closest competitor, had 83% positive reviews; but only 38 thousand in absolute terms.
It didn't have any bigger competitors because hogwarts legacy, BG3, Dave the Diver and Lethal Company were nominated for other awards
You can't nominate expansions (idk why more awards don't have a "best expansion" category it might enocourage not trash DLCs) so Phantom Liberty was off the table.
Honestly Steam should only let people who own all 5 games vote, would generate a lot of money and make it a bit more fair lol.

I got the collectors edition, more than 200€ in Spain, which adjusted to salaries is like paying 600-700$ in US
Why I stopped playing Starfield pretty early: someone at Bethesda thought "Exploring" meant "hold W key for 20 minutes on empty terrain, to see each new landmark." Over and over again.
"It just works...and we dont have to actually make anything for you to discover and have fun with. We get to save money and time, you get to press W. Its a win-win."
That's why you take AMP and use the Personal Atmosphere power to SPRINT REALLY FAST FOR A LONG TIME...
...ok it's still pretty boring though.
Haven't played, but judging by the footage, "landmark" is a generous word.
It's even better when you press Numlock to have your character AUTO WALK for 20 minutes on empty terrain to see each new landmark
You do realize if you scan the area and the landmarks are 500+ meters away, you can hop back in the ship take off and re-land, just re-adjust your landing zone a pixel or 2 closer and when you land you’ll land nearly on top of what you were going to run to…
If we get vehicles, it will take 3 loading screans to use 😂
Man would despise daggerfall
The emptiness of space 😂 idk I’ve been playing starfield and I’ve been enjoying it.. but I definitely don’t waste my time surviving and exploring.. and fast travel is a life saver
The biggest problem in Starfield is the lack of vehicles. And frequent loading screens. And the overuse of fast travel. And the barebones combat. And the complete lack of anything resembling real space exploration. And the glacial pacing and boring main quest.
Besides all that, yeah sure it’s a masterpiece.
You left out every single NPC giving you the bug eyed Xanax stare everywhere you go.

“BuT dOn’T wOrRy ThE mOdS wIlL fIx EvErYtHiNg”
This game is terrible and poorly made but everyone is afraid to criticize it because it’s made by Bethesda. There will be no large scale modding scene for this game because the base experience isn’t good enough for people to come back to it. There’s no DLC large enough to fix the colossal foundational issues of the experience.
Unless there are some serious foundational changes to the way Bethesda builds it’s games and it’s studio, I think the elder scrolls 6 will be terrible and all the good will that they’ve been coasting on and rapidly depleting will be all gone.
Lmfao as soon as they said there was gonna be 1000 planets it was a done deal that there was gonna be a bunch of empty environments and filler out the yinyang
I think they completely planned on relying on the modding community to make it a good game🤣👌 I could imagine in a couple years it being amazing with some mods but until then It's just a walking simulator with cool visuals🤦

In fallout 4, if you travelled that far you would have come across 5 raider camps, 3 feral ghoul nests a random encounter and at least one 3-way firefight between BoS, Gunners and Supermutants. And any of those encounters could easily get your character killed.
And Preston Garvey 2 times
Which could easily get your character to commit suicide
