Webinar: The Use of Mobile Money for Humanitarian Cash Programming in Ethiopia

On September 3, 2020, the GSMA Mobile for Humanitarian Innovation programme (M4H) and the ECHO-CCD Network in Ethiopia held a webinar on the use of mobile money for Humanitarian Cash Programming in Ethiopia.
The webinar was the first of its kind, and brought together the top minds and institutions working to use mobile money for social cash transfer programming in Ethiopia. The event’s participants included private and public sector players, and humanitarian and development actors, actively engaged (or planning to engage) in the cash transfer space using mobile money.
The event was a unique opportunity for humanitarian actors operating in Ethiopia to directly engage with policy makers, policy implementers and private sector players. It was also an opportunity to understand the country’s trajectory regarding the use of mobile money for humanitarian cash transfers.
