Least Reliable Cars That Won't Even Last 50,000 Miles || Avoid Buying!

- Today, we're diving into the world of new vehicles that just can’t seem to make it past 50,000 miles (or 100,000 kilometers) without causing some serious headaches. We're talking about the TEN most unreliable new cars you can buy right now.
But - before we get started - remember, any vehicle can last a long time if you’re willing to deal with trips to the dealer for warranty issues and then potentially pouring money into repairs once the warranty is up. The question is what’s your tolerance for all that? For these cars, it might have to be pretty high…
Coming in at number ten is the Ford Bronco Sport, and we've got a lot more to discuss. From the Nissan Rogue's drivetrain concerns to the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe's hybrid headaches, and even the infamous Hyundai & Kia 2.0L engines, we're covering all the bases.
🚗 Top 10 List:
Hyundai & Kia 2.0L Engines
Volkswagen Taos
Land Rover Range Rover
Jaguar F-Pace
Chevrolet Silverado & GMC Sierra
Chrysler Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid
Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe & Wrangler 4xe
Infiniti QX50
Nissan Rogue
Ford Bronco Sport
Make sure to watch the entire video for detailed insights on each model, and find out why you might want to steer clear of these vehicles if you're planning to keep them long-term.
If you've owned any of these vehicles and had a good experience, that's great! But for most, these models are more likely to cause trouble than the average car. To avoid headaches, it’s best to steer clear.

What is happening with manufacturers these days? It used to be if you wanted a reliable vehicle you turn to the far east companies, but Nissan in the shitter, Honda reliability has dipped, Hyundai and Kia dropping the ball who is there left to turn to? European and American vehicles have never a shining beacon of reliability either. No wonder there's a boom in classic and older cars. They ran longer with proper maintenance. Add in inflation and price gouging over the last 4 years, it's time to rub those pennies together for a descent "old school".
Basically higher emissions, computers, and cost cutting. Peak automobile reliability was in the early 2000. We need some cheaper basic vehicles. Port injection, no turbo, no cvt, no cylinder deactivation, no start stop etc.
Toyota
Sticking throttle pedals
Even Toyota is starting to slip a bit too. They’re having problems with that new V6 engine in the Tundra
My '24 Seltos (49K miles) and '15 Forte5 with the 2.0 GDI engine (153K miles on original engine and transmission) have been fantastic vehicles. I love them.
How do you put 49k miles on a 2024 vehicle with in less then a year

Normally aspirated 4 cylinder Nissan Rogues are far more reliable
I see the rogue cvt here and its funny because my neighbor has well over 300k miles on hers and no issues.
That’s so cap lol I am sorry but that’s impossible. Unless if the transmission been replaced than yeah make sense but if its the original. There is no way in hell.
@@ez_556 no it hasn't. Even my friend with his altima has over 300k but his transmission just went. He never replaced the fluid. My 19 altima has 220k and no cvt issues. No need to lie. She doesn't even know what a transmission is lop.
The only way the Nissan cvt will ever reach 300k is hwy miles and replacing fluids a lot.
@benchmark3332 she worked in Manhattan and I also did over 300k on my altima cvt and I'm currently at 220k on my newer altima cvt. I live in queens and I floor my car atleast a few times a day. It can make it. I know that for a fact...
My nissan rogue had more than 160k miles on it so this is untrue
The chevy trucks are fine when you deactivate the DFM system . Haven't had a problem but I don't abuse the truck either
As an old Chrysler mechanic friend of mine used to say, "Jesus Chrysler"!
The mechanic I use tells me he always pops open the hood of a Ford and says the same thing. "Why can't you guys be more like Toyota." AND he also told me he hears "ka-ching" when a jeep pulls in.
@@joeb2588 one man's heap is another man's income......
In 2017 I bought a Chrysler 200 with 97,000 kms on it. The first day I had it the check engine light came on. Within 6 months I replaced the alternator, ignition switch and the thermostat and several other things including the brakes twice. I lost a lot of money on this pile of crap. I ended up buying a Corolla which turned out to be the most reliable car I've owned.
@mandk6089 yah, corolla is a good car. Sorry you got burned by the Chrysler. I've been burned by GM, Ford, and Chrysler. My 2018
Hyundai Elantra base model with a manual transmission has been the most reliable, trouble free car I've ever owned. 138k. I maintain it really well. Always checking oil, and such.
JESUS Chrysler 😮, Sounds like an oxymoron, Contradictory, JESUS is the Best ❤
Where Chrysler is one of the worst 😂
Imagine getting an Infinity and it has a fucking CVT, that should instantly make you NOT buy that shit. Best cars ever made are 99-2013 past that they fucked everything up with bad tech and cost cutting measures everywhere possible.
Pop the hood.
Me: CVT no sit!
Mazda and Toyota are still good (minus brand new model hiccups) . And even bmw is becoming better. Only "American" vehicles really hit the crapper in the 2000s. And koreans are just a wannabe GM at this point.
eCVTs are reliable
@@kjk4795 ECVTs are already a misleading name. As the setup isn't similar. ECVTs are more of a planetary gear system. Whereas normal cvts are just gear and belt driven and much more simple.
It was all downhill for Infiniti the moment they stopped producing the G37
Nissan trucks are reliable as any Toyota truck (pre tundra/tacoma redesign) too bad Nissan is so dumb they are getting rid of the Titan. The Frontier and Armada redesign is probably going to make them suck ass as well and then what are we left with? The only bad Nissan truck was a few select years of the diesel Titan.
Why because you say so? I bet you drive a Kia or Hyundai or some stupid looking crossover. American vehicles suck and are boring as the average looking American. What do I mean by that? You satisfy absolutely no one!!! 😂
Describing Theta engines using Kia Forte GT video is very wrong
I have a 2016 kia soul 2.0L with 55000 miles on it, and I haven't any issues with this car. It doesn't burn oil, the transmission works great, and AC still blows cold air. It could be because of the maintenance I give to the car, like changing the oil every 5k miles with synthetic oil and cleaning the valves because it is a GDI engine.
The Rogues cvtx is all new and have had no issues to date.
How can a transmission break when the engine it is attached to provides no power or torque? I predict the example I rented a few weeks ago will last forever.
Just gave up my ‘23 Pathfinder. Electrical, sensor and minor mechanical issues. Battery will wear out in six months. Getting to the point where I’m chasing problems. After they updated the ECM and transmission, seems to run slower for less stress. Some have good luck with the ZF, some don’t. Mpg is inconsistent. Gotten better after the fuel pump replacement.
just bought a used V6 AWD Venza, circa 2010. Nice, reliable Toyota from that generation. NOt the cheapest, but a very nice car indeed, and should last well over 300K. Lots of Kia and Ford junk on the used market for cheap, I couldnt bring myself to buy an ecoboost Escape.
Need proof that Japanese cars are the best in terms of reliability and build quality, just look at Nissan before and after Renault bought them 😂😂😂😂
Bro you haven’t seen Toyotas with their v6 turbo engines have you? lol oh boy you need some learning.
@@ez_556 oh I’m aware. I’m still taking that over anything built by the French. Shit I’ll take a clapped out abused improperly tuned and maintained EJ WRX over a stock French anything if we’re talking reliability. The French build quality is as poor if not worse than Chrysler.
@@ez_556One problem out of Toyota, the whole crowd goes crazy. 20 problems out of Hyundai and kia, and people still love them. Y'all make no sense.
@@know916bound It’s not that people are going nuts over Toyota having one or two even three issues. It’s people getting worried that the ever reliable Toyota is becoming a shadow of its former self, something I pray never happens. While Hyundai and Kia, well it’s Hyundai and Kia. People know what to expect out of them. A ton of issues is something you definitely don’t expect coming from Toyota.
@@know916bound think about it man, Toyota is not well known for fucked up engines. They aren’t like Dodge Engines or fucking Ford Ecoboost. Toyota has a reputation for their engines. It’s that big of deal. You know what’s the big of deal? Cars who are starting to build their reputation because as they go on, they make them better. Not go backwards and keep messing up. It’s common sense. Every new thing has to be better than the last ones. Look at Mazdas bro.
Idk my 2015 silverado is still kicking great and have never had warranty work done to it and im at 91k i bought it at just under 40k miles... transmission, egine, ect....alll are fine.
Get their act together? That's hysterical. That CVT transmission blew a Nissan Marano sale.
Ouch for the Sierra. Looking for an off-lease one. And no good alternative.
Spoiler alert - Nissan 😂
Nooooooo!!! Not true at all for me
Wow, was actually surprised to see Kia/hyundai so high up. Damn shame since they seemed to be turning it around.
I have a 2018 SantaFe Sport 2.0 Turbo
Just rolled a 130,000 miles.
Not one problem out of the drivetrain....yet. lol
I will say I'm on my second set of brakes and rotors though, don't think it's how I'm braking, but maybe.
I have a 2018 Elantra. Base model with a manual transmission. 137k. Changed a wheel bearing and thermostat. That's it. It's the most reliable, most dependable car I've ever driven. I do, however, take very good care of it.
My silverado has been in the shop since February 3rd waiting on a motor which is on backorder. I'm trying to get GM to pitch in on payments since I had to buy another car bc of this bs
How are Hyundais Kia 1.6t gamma turbo engines?
I want to take that Bronco Sport and stick a mid-mounted V8 in it.
That’s probably with the new rouge my grandma has a 2011 and it has almost 150,000 miles on it and nothing has ever happened to it other than the time when she put the wrong gas in it
Kia/Hyundai had problems with the 2.0 burning oil in the 2020 model.
In regard to Nissan's VC-turbo engines; it is not under investigation. It is in before-investigation phase, meaning that it may, or may not turn into investigation. This is basically information gathering phase. So far nothing came out of it, even though the process was started last year.
I have a 2016 Hyundai Elantra with 187,000 miles so far. No issues. I hope my 2023 Elantra does as well a the older one.
Thats rare
I sold my 18 Sonata at 103,000 miles for a 21 Tuscon with 16,000 miles.
Had no major issues with the Sonata aside from the master window switch failing, but that was under warranty.
Not my car being shown in the last few clips 😩 no but I have the 1.6L hybrid instead of the 2.0 so, I should be good, I hope.
Couple months back wrote a paper for my management class about Stellantis firing a bunch of their U.S. engineers and software people. They’re terrible.
I bought Nissan versa in manual . I am hoping it would be reliable since engine is ancient and manual is manual
Wrong… your examples for Hyundai and Kia are the NU. The theta 2 gdi isn’t in any of those!!!! And the theta is a 2.0L Turbo or 2.4L (gdi). I like you guys but this video is misleading
Dodge never agin and i called the company and told them why😢
My moms 2016 rogue still on its original cvt at 150k miles. lol
I have a Nissan with over 200k miles. Best car ever.
Any Dodge/Chrysler product
And Chevrolet/Ford
I love how there is a jeep right away
Why let facts get in the way of a good story. The current KIA/Hyundai 2.0L 147 hp engine does not have this problem.
FACTS talks about the theta junk engine but yet shows examples of a “2.0” aka NU with cars that don’t have the theta engine. Ruined the entire video.
Basically, what you're saying is, the more technology, the worse it is. I miss the days of older cars. That's why I like the early 90s and 2000s. I hate new cars Nothing but plastic and junk
I fear that Stellantis will soon sell the Chrysler and Dodge brands to foreign car companies, e.g., Chinese or Indian companies. That may not be a bad thing as the quality and product selections could be vastly improved.
Don’t get caught up with Nissan as a whole being very unreliable. If you do your research. The Nissan titan, frontier and Nissan sports cars are very reliable . However their passenger cars and SUV’s are terrible with the exception of the new pathfinder. Personally for me, I am looking at buying a 2012 pathfinder (last year of the body on frame generation) very reliable engine and trans. Upgraded radiator and heater hose valve thingy. Parts would be like $400 i total, I could find a 2012 pathfinder SE with 120k miles for $4500, compare that to a 4Runner it’s 50% less for basically the same truck.
Hyundai and Kia has extended warranty for a reason. Junk.
i would never buy any jeep… new or used
Facts! Bronco sport has a ton of issues and poor quality.
A naturally aspirated engine vehicle is more reliable than a vehicle with a small engine with a turbo and more reliable than a plug in hybrid vehicle. At minimum, a turbo should be on a 4 cylinder engine vehicle and NOT a 3 cylinder engine vehicle.
Now really, are there any models that have seen actual improved reliability over the last 4 years? It sure seems reliability is tanking across the industry.
Tell us about the for 1.6 and 1.5 issues. 😂
I will stick to my 1961 Comet , and 1958 Chevrolet Fleetside truck .
So basically the point of this vehicle is small turbo Techie vehicles are stupid Too much electronics are a problem. You just need a barebone system that works it's
What about Tundra and Grand Highlander 🤷, forgot about them ? 🤣🍻
Like if you DID NOT make this list 👍
If you want a reliable car, never buy
1 a turbo charged car
2 a highbred
3 electric
4 a Jeep
5 a Dodge
6 a Ram
7 any Kai
8 any Hundai
9 any BMW
10 Tesla Cyber Truck
You couldn’t be more wrong about 1,2,6 and 7&8.
1. Turbo engines have been around for decades, they require a very specific treatment when you drive and shut them down.
Plus oil catch will fix a faulty design of these engine at a super low cost.
2. Hybrids have been around since 1997, Toyota and Honda are the pioneers, Honda neglected to project for a while, Toyota ram with it. Gen 1 and 2 Prius are around for sale with original batteries and CVT with 150-250k miles given that these are heavily used by Uber and Lyft and such.
6. Rams post 2015 have a ZF 8/9 speed transmission bullet proof.
The Pentastar V6 has been around for 14 years, it’s original issue are not there and they average 300k miles with healthy maintenance. The HEMI engines are abused by bad habit drivers, and a lack of understanding of its mechanics. A HEMI is supposed to run not idle. There’s plenty of UA-camr and Reddit users that have their RAMs with over 250k miles with minor wear a tear issues and no more.
Some elements have gotten worse since stelantis took over but I think they’re trying to kill the brand all together.
7&8. Look at the vin numbers of these cars, ones that start at K will outlast most other manufacturers, ones that have the 1.6GDI Gen 1 like any other new product have some gremlins to get rid off.
These cars sell worldwide by the boat load, some models outsell VW and Toyota.
There’s a reason for that.
@fatman5377 Turbo cars never last unless they're diesel.
Find a Ram more than 10 years old. Good luck.
Go buy a hybrid from 2015. I dare you.
No, go buy a Tesla from 2015. Hope you like 60 miles of range.
Dodge got sold, and it does not exist anymore. It's now called Salantis. A wish company. Again, if you want a reliable car, get an iron block, iron head, naturally aspirated car, or truck built pre 1995. O bet you everything, my 1990 f150 will outlast your POS and it's already 25 years old

@fatman5377 2018 is still kinda new because 4 years of covid, it never got driven. The NTSB states that about 73% of turbo cars built pre 2015 are no longer on the road.
Lets phase back what you said about Nissan because the Infiniti QX50 will outlast a BMW and a Benz and the QX50 was also designed with the Mercedes Benz GLE

Everybody plays this background dumb-you-down rubbish.
The Hyundai Elantra & Kona have absolutely no business being on this list. And because of that huge dislike for the video.
Hyundai Elantra’s have been proven to get 1 million miles/1.5 million kilometres on the original powertrain with regular maintenance. That doesn’t seem unreliable to me.
Therefore Hyundai & Kia should NOT be on this list. At least they stand behind their products and fix issues right away.
