One of Canada's most under appreciated bands of the 80's. Their music still holds up today.

Man, to spend most of the 80's between the great Canadian cities of Calgary and Toronto, while these great tunes were smoldering over the waves of every great FM station on the continent. Summers in the city and tunes like this created memories worth revisiting.

Despite the years, this song continues to withstand the test of time, it encapsulates that moment in time. Just close your eyes and let the song take you back in time and lived back those memories.

They opened for CROWDED HOUSE at Canada's Wonderland! Back when Canada had powerhouse indie record labels with somewhat interesting acts.

what a great fucking song ! one of canada's gems from the 80's..he sounds a little like a young bono from that same era !!..what a great time to be young !!in my early teens and in high school..we were all arrogant, stupid, and thought we were invincible..lol !FUCKING AWESOME !! THE GLORY DAYS OF REAL SYNTHS AND ELECTRIC PIANO AND HUGE ASS DRUM SOUNDS WITH TONS OF REVERB !! BEAUTIFUL !

Such an awesome song. Such an underrated band. Never got the recognition it deserved. Bought all their CDs, and still listen to their stuff regularly. This song is my favorite of theirs. When I first heard heard this song on the radio, I thought it was a new U2 song. Awesome guitar...very clean.

Another great Canadian Artist featured on the great CFNY 102.1FM during their HEYDAY(s) in the 80's. Love the passion and desire... although being somewhat uncomfortable in concerts never did see them live. Music should be shared throughout the world, where others can come to embrace all music as important.

I met these guys when the played St. Mary's High School in Kitchener. Hilarious.

LOL - I think the lead singer lived in my building for awhile. I like the fact they would say they were from Newcastle, Ontario - possibly the biggest thing that ever came out of that town!!!!

@tothatextent Chris Tait is still one of my favorite male vocalists. He formed Big Faith after Chalk Circle disbanded and, although I have both albums, I didn't enjoy BF as much as Chalk Circle. And CC was great in convert too.

I'm pretty sure it is the building on the old Sunnyside fairgrounds on Toronto's lake front. It been used in many videos. That would make it Lake Ontario.
But more importantly, I remember buying the album soon after its release because I thought it was an ok song and being surprised how very good the entire album was.

I agree with the questions that you raise, Ecossaise. I cannot see any connection to either U2 or 'New Year's Day'. Chalk Circle was a successful 'attempt' at a unique sound.

I love this song yet "Me, Myself and I" is far better and the video is an excellent example of how to use blinds effectively. Someone please post this band's videos! I tune in here all the time hoping to find something by the kaukasische Kreidekreis. I saw the band recently at Lee's Palace and Brad still looks buff; Chris has gained a bit; Tad too; and Derrick still looks hot with that cap and diastema however I couldn't tell under the lighting if he was totally grey or just bleach-blond.
