love that you blur the art in intro, i’m always thinking like nooo i wanna be surprised haha
such a wonderful achievement to consistently create art, sometimes I like to set myself a challenge of filling entire sketchbooks in short time frames ❤❤❤
also it's so valid wanting to be more current and immersed with your cultural references not so generic traditional
amazed by how you consistently post 20+min long videos every week. loved this video!
i STRUGGLE to get to 20 min sometimes :’)) 🩷🩷
@@palomathepeachim the opposite I could talk and talk and talk when the camera is on, have to cut out so much stuff because hello emily this is not a vlog save it for the vlog😂 yet I love watching other people talk and talk so I should just do it
the over head shot of salem taking up the whole desk is so cute lol
He was helping 😊
After hearing you speak about not relating to art depicting things like hot cheetos and abuelita hot chocolate in relation to Mexican culture, I was honestly really surprised to see you make a piece of art depicting a name brand food item, because I personally find that to be identical thematically! I really really loved your Yakult piece - I find it really beautiful that having certain comfort foods repeats across cultures (fellow mexican household with yakult over here!) What a lovely video
thematically yes- i guess i meant more in the sense of what we see commercially! common knowledge of what mexican foods are would be the hot cheeto, abuelita, conchas sort of thing whereas imo yakult is not as known? at least for hispanic households- i know its super commercial for showcasing east asian culture!
for sure!
This is the video I needed today, thank you. I'm working to learn how to play, rather than feeling guilt when something I make feels like "wasting" materials. This helped reframe my thinking. Also, I could not stop being in awe (and fear) at you painting without a smock!
hahahah i always forget to wear my apron!! and i’ve gotten used to the idea that with every piece we learn something that helps us get to the artist we want to be, no matter how much we dislike a piece we make
That last piece with the green onions has stolen my heart
This video for sure motivated me to do some more traditional art! I loved the cardboard cut of the fish bowl ! :D
I loved this video! The music + your traditional art = chefs kiss
Watched while I drew and the sound, music, and of course theme of this video were like the perfect vibes. Really enjoyed it 🥰
Your videos are honestly so calming and so inspiring to watch 🤍
I am having an emotionally bad day and watching this is really helping me. Thank you🫶🏽
Thanks for posting Paloma! Hope you’re doing well and are staying safe and healthy! ❤❤
Thank u so much for the video! so inspiring! ❤
Love the longer video! Great to listen and watch while working along side drawing :]
I have been in artist block but with your video I grabbed my brush and started painting again. thank you so much!
I really enjoyed your video, it was so chill and didnt feel forced! Hope to see more!
love that little fish! would make such a great sign for any upcoming art markets you have!
I absolutely LOVE the color palette you used for the fish! ♥️👍🏼 keep up with your beautiful artsy creations 🖼️ ✨
This video inspired me to get going on my own art. Some really cool pieces today.
This video was so motivating , so cool to see all the different ways to create art!
I adored everything you made this week!
Watching this video was so inspiring and made me wish I could leave my full time job and just create all day 🫶🏼✨
Not me with a Yakult in my hand as I watch this masterpiece! 😳
I felt so seen to what you said about not relating to art depicting specific foods in Mexican culture as a Mexican. I just haven’t been able to articulate the feeling. Beautifully said! 🇲🇽
I really enjoyed this video! The cardboard fish bowl is so cute! 🧡💕🧡
Love how kitteh helps carve the printing block 😊 I'm #NativeAmerican too. Love hearing about the culture of my indigenous brethren south of the border. ✊🏽🇲🇽
this was a treat to watch you create as you go and flow with whatever at hand. thanks for the reminder to just put out art without the over thought haha cheers
I thoroughly enjoyed this. Thank you.
unsolicited tip (but it came in very handy for me so I'm sharing lol!!) because I saw your canvas had dents: wet the back and let it dry!!! it'll straighten right out it's amazing (idk if this has any repercussions from the art gods but i did this to a canvas that got really warped in transit :')))
ah THANK U!! i was wondering how i could fix it, luckily after being painted on it mostly went away
God, you have a very pretty appearance and a comfort vibe. And your paintings... It's just wonderful and so atmospheric... I like it. *✧
this was so fun! and thanks for introducing us to Joyce Kozloff- I love her work!
KITTY! So fluffy! * ^ *
PS This video is so satisfying to watch.😌 Linoleum carves so smoothly and I always liked the color of orange underpainting people are using.
Also, I was able to relax and paint first time in few days. Thanks for that too.
sharing your sennelier pastels must be peak friendship
I love all the play and experimenting, and such good results! Also a bit obsessed with your big fried eggy pillow, is it one of your designs?
no it’s from miniso :)
You’re the most productive person on earth fr!
only for little bursts at a time hahaha
slightly wetting the folded piece of paper also helps tearing it smoothly yet not super clean cut
ooo thank u!
I have perfect timing, just pulled up UA-cam to keep me company while I sketchbook!
Thank you for this, it was really inspiring! Been feeling very stuck in my paintings lately.
Also, please get cut resistant gloves. When you scrape off the paint (at 20:32) I used to do that as well, until I cut myself pretty badly (my tendon got cut in the process, had to have surgery) since then, everytime I use a cutter I wear that cut resistant glove on my non dominant hand.
Greetings from another Mexican artist and thank you for sharing
omg I love the texture the post-its give to the painting!! it’s so cool and interesting! I’ve never seen that before, I might try it soon! (also quick Q! I love the ipad artboard you have, where did you get it?)
it’s called the sketchboard pro! i ordered it from their website :)
Omg Paloma I just bought that twilight shirt at the end from old navy!
woah nice!! i found mine at target
There's a Reference option in Procreate so you don't have to put your ref photo on the canvas.
yes! i always forget lol
I feel the same way about the common Mexican American symbols not feeling totally representative of my own experience.. love that you talked about it! ❤
I just could not stop laughing when ur painting in time lapse and u can hear the sound of what u doing 06:56, it looks so funny to mee. The yawey print looks so cute❤❤
Love this video! First one i’ve seen of probs many more on your channel :)
What is is that you hold your ipad on when you’re drawing on the couch?
it’s a sketchboard pro!
Sometimes wetting the crease with a paintbrush makes it easier to tear in a straight line
lo que más me hace pensar en mi infancia es el magito sonrics, dragon ball y los duritos preparados, está bien interesante como para muchos los recuerdos son más tradicionales que en otros
What kind of paint did you use for the carving print? :) love your videos
it’s the speedball block printing paint!
Paloma I love to know what your brush pen organizer. The horizontal wood on on your right side of drawing table. I've been lookin for something like that. Thanks! and i love your art and videos.
it’s from amazon by the brand ohuhu!
Never carve toward yourself-signed, my thumb scar.
oh ya i know ahahah, that’s why i only use the easy carve blocks bc i barely have to use any pressure
I’ve been looking for soft oil pastels!! What brand were those?
theyre sennelier!
She was watching " Queen of Tears " ;) 15:45 yeeeyyy
Do you still have an aquarium? Love this video sm!!!
no 😞 my fish kept dying so i decided to hand it off to my uncle hahaha
I noticed you’re watching Queen of tears on your iPad I’m also currently watching Queen of tears 😊
AHHH please don't carve towards your hand! That is how I had to get stiches at the ER!
the bossa nova in portuguese
Sorry if I missed it but what what brushes are you using in Procreate for that portrait?
RSCO mr. marker set!
irrelevant, but your couch!! Where’d you get it? 🥺
it’s from west elm!! we decided to get a custom couch
I noticed a bunch of dimples in your canvas, if you wet the back it should restretch its self
Whos in the aquarium behind u?!
shin godzilla the leopard gecko! my husband has had her for 3 years :) we just recently moved stuff around the apartment so she’s in the studio now
how do you motivate yourself during difficult times? What has happened in Gaza since October 7 has driven us all to burnout. With this desperation, we cannot focus on our lives.
i think i approach it more in a way of knowing there r things i have to do and also want to do instead of waiting for motivation? bc tbh i rarely feel any but what makes me do stuff is knowing ill feel better at the other side of it. i agree i think the gen0c!de in Gaza have caused such a loss of hope, although i will admit ive felt this way most of my teen years and into my adulthood with ongoing horrors happening within my community and homeland. all we can do is do what we can in terms of helping, whatever that looks like for each individual and keep living.
DO NADa música em potugujes
Abuelita is gross though... tamales, tacos, burritos, beer, and mariachi, I hold the food close, the beer and mariachi is just what I saw and heard at the family parties. But I don't give much thought to my cultural background, it doesn't inspire me like my favorite music and movies and books do.
i don’t like abuelita either o.O i used to not feel as inspired by my culture but the older i get the more i cherish how it really has impacted so much of my personality
Would I be a bad follower if I tell you that I hate the mouth/nose noises from your head camera like in 2:58? Normally I wouldnt hear that in other videos, very weird…Sorry…
nah
