Enjoyed that Alex. The great thing about Airfix vintage classics is that you go into them with eyes fully wide open, but that Belvedere looked a mare. I've built most of them and in general my childhood was recaptured with a big smile. I'm pleased you had good things to say about the Gannet as it seemed to be a bit Marmite amongst modellers. Looking forward to more excellent content in 2025. Cheers
My worst of "24 was the 1/48 Italeri F-22. My best was meeting most of the UA-camrs i follow, like yourself, at Telford SMW and a couple of fellow viewers too. A great community we have here.
Border models “Kate”: The look on your face as you say you would to give the creator of manual “some direct and physical feedback”. It did bring out a laugh from me!
Thoroughly enjoyed watching/listening to that as I finished off building a kit (IBG Models 1/72 A9 Cruiser Tank - excellent model but dreadful instructions!). Wishing you all the best for 2025 - your shop, your channel, and your move! Finally, as you are always so honest with us, I have to tell you that my wife kept looking over my shoulder at the screen - when I asked why, she said that ''he sounds like such a nice bloke and I wanted to see what he looks like!''
I was lucky , I only built 3 kits in 2024 hasegawa 1/48 Macchi. 1/16 das werk panzer 3 and Italeri 1/24 Escort RS 1800 MK2 & they were pretty good builds. I've only heard great things about the Gannet. Happy New Year to you also.
My best of 2024 was the Airfix (Academy) 1/35 Panzer IV. It was my first serious attempt at armour. A great kit. My worst was a Revell 1/32 Messerschmitt BF 109 G-6. I had pieces missing, and it was a pig to build. Currently back on the WIP shelf.
Was rather surprised by the Hobbyboss 1/72 Sea Hawk....not an aircraft that would be top of my list but it is an absloute joy to buld and a cracking little kit....even the decals were a joy to use unlike other hobby boss kits i have were the decals were crap.....the model is really growing on me
Airfix Bristol Belvedere was easily the worst experience of they year. It is a difficult kit to build and didn't give me that burst of nostalgia I was hoping for...the end result looks ok but I wouldn't build it again. My favourite kit of the year was the Airfix Apollo Saturn V. I remember building this as a child and I was super pleased with the result this time around.
Getting back into modelling after retiring I thought I'd try the Challenger 2 from Trumpeter. It was a difficult kit as it required so much effort to correct the various warps and unclear instructions. Almost put me off the hobby!
Border Models Instructions: You'd do better to throw them away and guess where stuff goes and how.. (Plus, they NEVER give any painting directions for ANY interior parts....) Like the exact opposite of what you expect in these times.
Worst kit Revell 1/32 Mossie, never again! Best Trump 1/32 AV8B Harrier, went together beautifully and built it with wing section removable to see the engine
What were your best & worst modelling experiences of 2024? Will they change what you do in 2025? Let me know in the comments below.....

Any links to the 'a-hole' paint article?

Nice!
Saw the old Airfix TSR 2 in the local shop today...i think the price is €60.00 Euro... is it worth it in your opinion?
