My husband is a trucker have been for 20 years. The things he sees on the road, is crazy... from semis to small cars. Semi drivers cut corners, small vehicle's have no repect for truckers. As if the dont know an 18 wheeler cant stop on a dim. Either way, no matter whos fault this may be!! It is so very very 😥 tragic. I am truely sorry for your loss... for the families left behind, i lost my late husband, 3 children, and parents in law all in the blink of an eye, due to a collision. My heart breaks for you,,, please know my thoughts and prayers are with you. And if this is the truckers fault,,, he will FOREVER carry the guilt with him. Im sure, all i know is my husband is a very catious driver, and if this happened to him he would be beating himself up enough, without others leaving nasty comments!! Lets all be safe and respectful of ALL the drivers out there.
Bc driving requires constant awareness! Traveling through albeta and bc demands a level of understanding. 1hour, with sun shining in the right direction, creates a safer road...

it's really impossible to tell from the position of the vehicles who crossed over the centerline. The truck might have done it and then drift it back to the right with the car stuck to the front of it. The truck driver knows exactly what happened.

Exactly. IMO, when you are in an accident, you should give a full account in the form of an affidavit. That way, if it turns out later you lied, you go away for the rest of your life.

As a retired truck driver, I'd almost put money on drowsiness or distraction of the truck driver. Look what side of the road the truck is on. I've struggled to stay awake at those wee hours of the day. The HOS of service are too restrictive to get rest. I just drove for a buddy for 3 months this year before I hung it up. We were under the gun doing sketchy stuff to make the loads work. Glad I'm out. Prayers for the families of this deceased family. 😢
Could be a jackknife from hitting the brakes at speed. Where the tail end of the trailers are(1:23-34), there in no way the truck driver was pulling out of an intersection.
one of you news story types should do some research into collisions involving commercial vehicles in bc in recent years and see who is causing the accidents to see if there are and trends
Unfortunately that trend is high in ontario aswel. There was a situation with a police officer was set up pulling over tracker trailers and found the first 2 had no drivers licenses, he recieved a call from his department and was told to cease what he was doing.
Looks like the trucker woke up and went back to his lane......the SUV couldent take the ditch, as there was cement curbing along both sides...........look where his train trailers are!

As a professional class 1 driver, I do not understand how come that they don't know which car has been on the opposite lane. It is very obvious when you have a look on the scene of the accident. Even a kid can easily remark it ...
Driving through BC or Southern Ontario is probably some of the most dangerous roads in North America. We all know why but of course it would be racist to state the obvious. Take care of that problem and the roads/highways will become much safer.
Even if you know what lead to the accident, you'll never follow up on this again and explain how to prevent this from happening. Nobody cared about how the Humbolt crash happend.
Wrong. Where vehicles end up after collisions does not tell you where they were when they collided. This is why the authorities would really like some video of the accident.

A head-on collision is a terrible thing especially when it involves a tractor trailer and a regular car. 14 years ago I was sitting at a stoplight in my tractor trailer and a lady committed suicide by driving a quarter mile down the wrong side of the road head on into my truck with me sitting still and nothing I could do. Just saying as a truck driver nothing is more difficult than knowing a life has been taken in an accident that you've been involved in, Even when you were helpless. All drivers out here just do your best to avoid this kind of situation Don't matter who would be at fault. My condolences to the family and friends of all involved.

Absolutely tragic, from the position of the vehicles I think dad dozed off and crossed into the semi. The driver of the semi will know, odd the RCMP didn't say that they had spoken to the driver..
The family car is on the other side of the street, the truck is on his side but it looks like his trailer is in both lanes straight with the cab, maybe jackknifed slightly from locking his brakes? hopefully they fill us in on what happened.
I dont want to be one to speculate but they were likely on a road trip and were trying to make the 6am ferry to the island, hence they drove tired and lost focus I see no other reason they would be driving at 3am, on the other hand it couldve been the truckers fault, too early to know though. Sad affair for that small family
the truck is a International Eagle ! good vision, empty B-train 5 axles ! it brakes very good ! Don t know where the truck was coming from but it s possible he was on that small road we see that s under the bridge and turned right on this road taking the whole road and the car coming to him had nowhere to go and hit the truck . I m sure the truck driver didn t see the car coming and engaged on the road. I ve been driving the same equipment for years ! never had an accident in 35 years of trucking Coast to Coast in Canada. R.I.P. poor family.

Looks like the car has been dragged head on to the side rails. Given the circumstances, the truck driver is not really capable and shows lack of experience in driving a truck in BC highways. I feel sorry for the whole family it is such a devastating news to their loved ones...
Anyone who has driven on highways at night knows how hard it can be to see the road when you're passing by a semi in the middle of the night. Their headlights are at eye level of a lot of passenger vehicles, so it's almost blinding when passing by them. I wouldn't be surprised to find out this is why this accident happened
What is your comment suppose to mean? Look at where the vehicles are. To me, it looks like the SUV veered from its lane into the tractor trailer's path. Driver of SUV might of fell asleep, distracted, health or mechanical breakdown but don't blame the trucker in this incident. Trailer are in the other lanes from locking the brakes and trying to swerve out of the way.

Heat. The baby sleeps better at night if your're traveling (cooler). Started out early to avoid the heat of the day. It starts getting light out around 4 am. Less traffic. Lots of reasons.

My husband is a trucker have been for 20 years. The things he sees on the road, is crazy... from semis to small cars. Semi drivers cut corners, small vehicle's have no repect for truckers. As if the dont know an 18 wheeler cant stop on a dim. Either way, no matter whos fault this may be!! It is so very very 😥 tragic. I am truely sorry for your loss... for the families left behind, i lost my late husband, 3 children, and parents in law all in the blink of an eye, due to a collision. My heart breaks for you,,, please know my thoughts and prayers are with you.
And if this is the truckers fault,,, he will FOREVER carry the guilt with him. Im sure, all i know is my husband is a very catious driver, and if this happened to him he would be beating himself up enough, without others leaving nasty comments!! it's really impossible to tell from the position of the vehicles who crossed over the centerline. The truck might have done it and then drift it back to the right with the car stuck to the front of it. The truck driver knows exactly what happened.

As a retired truck driver, I'd almost put money on drowsiness or distraction of the truck driver. Look what side of the road the truck is on. I've struggled to stay awake at those wee hours of the day. The HOS of service are too restrictive to get rest. I just drove for a buddy for 3 months this year before I hung it up. We were under the gun doing sketchy stuff to make the loads work. Glad I'm out. Prayers for the families of this deceased family. 😢

one of you news story types should do some research into collisions involving commercial vehicles in bc in recent years and see who is causing the accidents to see if there are and trends
Unfortunately that trend is high in ontario aswel. There was a situation with a police officer was set up pulling over tracker trailers and found the first 2 had no drivers licenses, he recieved a call from his department and was told to cease what he was doing.

As a professional class 1 driver, I do not understand how come that they don't know which car has been on the opposite lane. It is very obvious when you have a look on the scene of the accident. Even a kid can easily remark it ...
Driving through BC or Southern Ontario is probably some of the most dangerous roads in North America. We all know why but of course it would be racist to state the obvious. Take care of that problem and the roads/highways will become much safer.

A head-on collision is a terrible thing especially when it involves a tractor trailer and a regular car. 14 years ago I was sitting at a stoplight in my tractor trailer and a lady committed suicide by driving a quarter mile down the wrong side of the road head on into my truck with me sitting still and nothing I could do. Just saying as a truck driver nothing is more difficult than knowing a life has been taken in an accident that you've been involved in, Even when you were helpless. All drivers out here just do your best to avoid this kind of situation Don't matter who would be at fault. My condolences to the family and friends of all involved.

The family car is on the other side of the street, the truck is on his side but it looks like his trailer is in both lanes straight with the cab, maybe jackknifed slightly from locking his brakes? hopefully they fill us in on what happened.
And if the truck was at fault, nothing will be done.

I dont want to be one to speculate but they were likely on a road trip and were trying to make the 6am ferry to the island, hence they drove tired and lost focus I see no other reason they would be driving at 3am, on the other hand it couldve been the truckers fault, too early to know though. Sad affair for that small family

Don t know where the truck was coming from but it s possible he was on that small road we see that s under the bridge and turned right on this road taking the whole road and the car coming to him had nowhere to go and hit the truck . I m sure the truck driver didn t see the car coming and engaged on the road. I ve been driving the same equipment for years ! never had an accident in 35 years of trucking Coast to Coast in Canada. Looks like the car has been dragged head on to the side rails. Given the circumstances, the truck driver is not really capable and shows lack of experience in driving a truck in BC highways. I feel sorry for the whole family it is such a devastating news to their loved ones...

Anyone who has driven on highways at night knows how hard it can be to see the road when you're passing by a semi in the middle of the night. Their headlights are at eye level of a lot of passenger vehicles, so it's almost blinding when passing by them.
I wouldn't be surprised to find out this is why this accident happened

What is your comment suppose to mean? Look at where the vehicles are. To me, it looks like the SUV veered from its lane into the tractor trailer's path. Driver of SUV might of fell asleep, distracted, health or mechanical breakdown but don't blame the trucker in this incident. Trailer are in the other lanes from locking the brakes and trying to swerve out of the way.

Heat. The baby sleeps better at night if your're traveling (cooler). Started out early to avoid the heat of the day. It starts getting light out around 4 am. Less traffic. Lots of reasons.

@@barry1122 I've done a 10 1/2 hour drive from Prince George to the BC southern mainland. I'd alway start out at around 3:30 am. Less traffic. The sun started coming at 4:30. I avoided a lot of traffic. The earlier I started the better.
