WHAT A GAME, maybe best ever, the first i ever see on 3D, woh, i remember first time i runned it and i was absolutely stunned by the 3D movement, the sound, the graphics, every thing was incredible to this times, and the miracle it was just done in 4 floppy disk, 500 Kb was enought to this marvel that runned in all available PCs (except for music that i miss on the video). A millstone in the gaming history, deserves a monument.
Oh wow, my sis and I used to play this on my Mom's 286Mhz PC back in like '93 I think. We LOVED this game! It was a lot of fun and we eventually beat it after several months. The graphics were pretty amazing back then...3D perspectives, woah!
@SuperVasco117 It's on PC/Mac/& 3D0 console ... not for sure which version this is. Alone in the Dark 2 was ported over to consoles (3D0, Saturn, PSX).
I remember playing this as a kid. Couldn't get past the attic;not scared, just didn't know what to do after blocking the trapdoor and the window. And i never saw the intro either. Just a screen with monsters looking at the house and probably something about a book being read aloud.
Awesome! I love this game since i was 4 years old! I have a question, with which programm did you record this video ? Because it dont work with fraps =(. nice greetings
It is Edward, but not the one you know. The original trilogy involved a private detective named Edward Carnby who was as human and as mortal as you or I. Starting with "Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare," the games took a much different turn in an attempt to revive the series, but the newer games are only barely related to the original games, and share nothing in terms of storyline (although I hear that the most recent game TRIES to connect the new Carnby to the old one).
Au contrare- in the truest sense, this definitely IS "Alone in the Dark." There are newer games which are loosely related to this (and the other two games in the original trilogy), but this is the real deal. God, the memories :P
@shamrock8806 Both characters ARE alone. You get one _or_ the other. However, it does allow you to choose the protagonist who interests you most, which can only serve to immerse you in the game.
Fantastic! Flashbacks to when I was very young ;) Somewhere between 5-7 I guess. Isn't there a download out there? I still have it here on floppy disks, but I haven't got a reader.
i played on my Windows95 like 10 years ago when i was using the first family computer...i could never get past those two winged long tail demon thingies...it creeped the heck out of me when the imp came through the window and the zombie came up from below...i was like...7 years old...it FREAKED me out...
Speaking of Corridor 7 & AITD, I had a demo which had all of these games...now there was this one game where its all text & there is a picture in front of u, u go to a house where the light is on, u go inside & there r these 2 girls who stab u (they seemed to be vampires as they show off their fangs) any1 know this game??
@theseus27 No worries mate! I had to tinker a little bit to get it to work, but if you read some of the dos-box forums, there are instructions and peeeps are always willing to help...Let me know how you get on pal :-)
Even to this day, I'll still play this one (I liked it better than 2 and 3), and it's better with the Sound Blaster music anyways. But My God how far we've come in 15 years...and am I the only one who remotely liked the movie?
the only thing that annoys me are that the sound effects are sometimes out of sync and that it can only playback 1 sound at a time and not multiple. However I felt the game got a lot scarier without music which is a good thing.
Just proves that a game does not need to look scary in order to be scary. And also I don't think you should have had a choise of two characters in the game, because it's called ALONE in the dark.Just voicing my opinion.
The 3D effects and augmented reality technology on the 3DS reminded me of the 3D environments of older games like this one. Interesting, in so far of hinting at what the mainstream will be like in ten years, but still far from refinement.
Well, for its time I guess it was good. It was also the very first, if I'm not mistaken, survival horror game. RE, however, revolutionized and took the survival horror genre to extream hights. RE is great.
It wasnt the first survival horror game! Why do people keep thinking this? As in terms of the visual representation as far as static camera angles yes, it probably was. But when it comes to a survival horror games, there were some horror games that came be4 this, that were on NES and turbo grafx.
Yes, yes...a blast from the past. One of the best games of it's time. Rather dated now, of course - but at the time the graphics blew me away. Pre-cursor to the better looking but not as good Resident Evil.
@theseus27 Hi there, If you want to play this again; Look up 'Dos-box'..... It's a Dos emulator for older games. I run it on Vista, I'm fairly sure you can run it on XP. Good Luck.... John
that game is only yet-another-80's-game-with-the-classic-eyebird-angle. The fact that it has some horror thematics doesn't matter. I'm talking about the gameplay and the camera. Of course AITD1 has taken influences from "some books" (the almost unknown LOVECRAFT :D :D :D) but actually resident evil has ripped from here. Respect the history.
It scared me when I was a kid. I used to watch my dad playing it and even the sounds freaked me out! Nice to see it again after so many years.
WHAT A GAME, maybe best ever, the first i ever see on 3D, woh, i remember first time i runned it and i was absolutely stunned by the 3D movement, the sound, the graphics, every thing was incredible to this times, and the miracle it was just done in 4 floppy disk, 500 Kb was enought to this marvel that runned in all available PCs (except for music that i miss on the video).

que buenos recuerdos me trae esta intro y lo loco que me quedé al ver los gráficos 3D la primera vez
1:48 AAARRRGGHHHH! XD
I remember this game, it was so scary back then u.u
This brings back so many memories, thanks for uploading
Grandes recuerdos de mis tiempos de 486. Gracias
Amigamers T.V. Yo lo jugué con un Pentium 100
Oh wow, my sis and I used to play this on my Mom's 286Mhz PC back in like '93 I think. We LOVED this game! It was a lot of fun and we eventually beat it after several months. The graphics were pretty amazing back then...3D perspectives, woah!
It's so funny to look back on games like this that were probably terrifying then, but not scary at all now.
the best graphics I've seen. My God it seems so real
@SuperVasco117 It's on PC/Mac/& 3D0 console ... not for sure which version this is. Alone in the Dark 2 was ported over to consoles (3D0, Saturn, PSX).
This was all ingame, but not controlled by the player, so you just sat and watched as he walked through the house to the attic. I love this game lol
I remember playing this as a kid. Couldn't get past the attic;not scared, just didn't know what to do after blocking the trapdoor and the window. And i never saw the intro either. Just a screen with monsters looking at the house and probably something about a book being read aloud.

nice greetings
it was releaded in 1992
It's perhaps the first Survival Horror game.
It's a classic!

this is exactly how I played the game, no music, THATS what made it so scary. music is like the invisible actor.
first game to ever scare me! this was what made me love survival horror!
thank you...nostalgia...
@shamrock8806 Both characters ARE alone. You get one _or_ the other. However, it does allow you to choose the protagonist who interests you most, which can only serve to immerse you in the game.
Lol I like how his outfit matches his car and the wall paper in the house!
I'm sure there is meant to be music here. Great intro and game though, so atmospheric and tonnes of HP Lovecraft goodness - Gotta love it
Watching this cracks me up. Gotta love their very stiff, exaggerated movements as if they have a broomstick up their pooter ;)
Fantastic! Flashbacks to when I was very young ;) Somewhere between 5-7 I guess. Isn't there a download out there? I still have it here on floppy disks, but I haven't got a reader.
This game came before Resident Evil, this was the very first Survival Horror ever
My first game ever and god I loved it sooo much. The music was very scary.
A epic classic.
i played on my Windows95 like 10 years ago when i was using the first family computer...i could never get past those two winged long tail demon thingies...it creeped the heck out of me when the imp came through the window and the zombie came up from below...i was like...7 years old...it FREAKED me out...
If I remember correctly, somebody sent him to the mansion to retrieve a piano. I guess he figured it would be in the attic.
best intro ever
does anyone know the full title of the 1'st alone in the dark game ???? plzzzz answer me !!! thanx
pasa rapido el tiempo 🙁
Pues no solo con el juego.... ste es uno de los vídeos más antiguos del canal
mmm me acuerdo perfectamente de este juego cuando jugaba de pequeño...entonces me daba un monton de miedo.

this used to be one of the scariest games back then!
The Pentium I 60mhz was released that year I suppose it worked well with the 3D graphics.
Wow, it´s even older than Silent Hill 1. I came looking for this game since I completed it recently and loved it. Can you recommend this game?
I played Alone in the Dark (new one) for my 18th birthday, alone, in the dark
The music on Cd-version was amazing.
MAN i wish they put this out once more on the ds ^_^
que recuerdos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hahaha! I laughed so hard when the frog popped in the screen XD
how do i get this game to work on xp?
Remeber when the monster came out of the toilet? Its been like 15 years and i'm STILL scared to pee.
I was so scared by this game when i first played it, that i was afraid to continue.
Man. You can EASILY see how this game influenced Resident Evil.
this is one of the best game in the world! but the intro is better with the music :D
great graphics
one thing i dont understood about this game... why does he go all the way up to the attic ? maybe im missing something here
legendary
exelent game... love that.. thanks
How do you get this game to run on a new machine? I tried Dos Box but I get shitty sound etc, or no sound at all.
what I dont get (as i dont know the story) why does he just walk in and go straight to the attic ????
@theseus27 No worries mate! I had to tinker a little bit to get it to work, but if you read some of the dos-box forums, there are instructions and peeeps are always willing to help...Let me know how you get on pal :-)
what arguments does he has to go that far away upstairs?
he knows how to fight
Um dos melhores clássicos! Excelente jogo
this frog is scary xD
well, there is some light there.... Perhaps he is searching for someone?
Did I see a reference to Frogger in this intro?
abandonia has it, but I don't think the sound works...
a clasic!!!
I played this on a 486 DX2. It was 66MHZ. I thought I was the shit. LOL
I remember buying my first soundblaster just for this game!!
Even to this day, I'll still play this one (I liked it better than 2 and 3), and it's better with the Sound Blaster music anyways. But My God how far we've come in 15 years...and am I the only one who remotely liked the movie?
DMA's and IRQs LMAO. I forgot what a pain in the ass things could be back then! I would love to play these old games again.
the only thing that annoys me are that the sound effects are sometimes out of sync and that it can only playback 1 sound at a time and not multiple. However I felt the game got a lot scarier without music which is a good thing.
One of the firsts, then
Same! I'm 20 and my dad used to play this - I remember the clown bit from the 2nd one. Obviouslynot that scary now but I wouldnt want to play it xD
Just proves that a game does not need to look scary in order to be scary. And also I don't think you should have had a choise of two characters in the game, because it's called ALONE in the dark.Just voicing my opinion.

It's hard for me to believe a game like this could be scary, but... it really is. Living proof that graphics aren't everything, I guess.
Best game ever.
you saw your mother playing this?, omg now im feeling OLD
It's PC version
the frog should be the new screamer popup
Well, for its time I guess it was good. It was also the very first, if I'm not mistaken, survival horror game. RE, however, revolutionized and took the survival horror genre to extream hights. RE is great.

played it when I was little, a really weird game it was ^^
best game ever
dude i had the same thing haha both games were amazing
this game is rules, i got so close to completing it,
I know. But it wasn't 3D. This was the first 3D survival horror game. Fixed Cameras. "peekabo" moments. This influenced RE just as much IMHO.
Yes, yes...a blast from the past. One of the best games of it's time. Rather dated now, of course - but at the time the graphics blew me away. Pre-cursor to the better looking but not as good Resident Evil.
rofl
That is a fucking ancient game. I remember when I was little that my brother used to play it all the times...LOL!
Juegos eran los de antes!!
Isn't it? I think its the scaries game ever.
You read that on wikipedia didn't you?
without music this game is different.. the soundtrack by philippe vachey was fantastic
The only game I didn't finished because of general scariness. ,':-O
What is this for? An old Sega console or PC????
i played this when i was .... 7
They should remake this for the DS...
nostalgy!
how long is this game?
Yes. I know. I've read the wikipedia article too. XD
peace bro!
@theseus27 Hi there, If you want to play this again; Look up 'Dos-box'.....
It's a Dos emulator for older games. I run it on Vista, I'm fairly sure you can run it on XP.
Good Luck....
John
God bless you n__n
I PLAYED THIS WHEN CHILD!!!!! I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THE NAME HAHA
lol what the hell you call that a intro? Pretty good graphics for a game that came out in 1992
