- 73 Episodes in feels like a good a time as any for a little switch up. The new set is here, it's real, it exists, it's not just a fairytale. Thank you so much to every one of you who has supported and watched us up until this point. I never could have imagined what this show would grow into when I first started producing it over a year ago with the Amsterdam episode. This show means so much to all of us and it would be nothing without our community.
A few words on the thought behind the new set and what you can expect moving forward:
This set is meant to symbolize a little bit of the personality from each of our hosts. Stuff they loved growing up or that directly ties into their interests. Imagine what a room would look like if they all shared a bedroom growing up. We'll continue to add things and change things in it as we grow into the room. Dont worry, I know new things can be a little scary but this is very much still the same Fear&. It'll still be scuffed af from time to time, itll still be chaotic and make no sense, it'll still probably break every now and then. I hope yall fuck with it as much as we do. Also the old set is still there, this is likely not the last youve seen of it.

That was my thought exactly. Everything else is great and I don’t want to be negative but the chairs immediately make whoever is sitting on the couch look more important/central than whoever is sitting in the tiny afterthought chairs pushed up against the wall when this podcast has 4 equal co-hosts.
Hasan and the guest/QT get the couch because he owns the house and they're respectful to guests/women. Austin and Will get the chairs for their petite frames.

Set looks great! May I offer suggestions ? Warmer lights? Less square, kinda waiting room looking chair where austin and will are siting.. think like egg shape chairs, little side table next to each person rather than a big table and a kaya bed in the middle so the queen can hang out 😊

New set looks great! Think it could use a little warmer lighting and the audio is a little echoey.

either that or almost like a purple fluorescent light on top instead of a central light with a more outside light source focused spotlights/two panel/ring lighting in front in a warmer tone it's like the background needs to show off darker and the front lighting needs to be focused on them for sure otherwise it's like you got all these cool LED mood lightings glow in the dark acrylics but then it's sort of like you lose any magic to them if you turn on the central lights lol they're suppossed to be vibey, dark and cool right? I do miss the table though as it seems like a little more jammed with all these big dudes and having a guest of 5 or more is gonna feel so crowded like if they have enough room to back up the camera honestly it might just be the shot is too close in! Honestly I just realized the set is like two steps next to almost being cold ones but with a mix of trash taste which I love the Cold Ones set gotta hand it to em, it is amazing and vibey. I do think the table do be important though lol.
3 suggestions to make the new set perfect: some soundproofing foam to reduce reverb/echo, a taller table or different camera angle so there's less legs, and some warmer lighting (or even a little bi lighting).
The echo is completely killing it for me. They should throw a blanket over that paper wall and soundproof the ceiling as it sounds like that’s where it’s bouncing from.
Or temporarily grab a mattress from one of hasans 16 rooms and put it on one of the walls.
It sounds like none of the mics are noise gated. Apart from the echo, there's a constant hum in the background.

The set is so fire, i think yall need some dampeners like a thicker rug and some stuff on the ceiling for the echo. but 10/10 set!

Kaya knows that she's the real star of the show, she had to be there.
i like the vibe the new set is going for, but i think it needs some tweaks. Namely:
- better lighting (this harsh over-head lighting isn't doing anyone's hairline favors)
- a higher camera angle (idk if anyone other than anti-piker wants a up the crotch shot of all the boys)
- some sound deadening (when more than 1 person is talking it sounds loud and echoe-y)
- and lastly maybe some different furniture cuz no one looks comfy
I'd add one thing:
- it's super noisy visually. There is a lot of (I'm pretty sure random) shit thrown in there, as if someone was afraid we'd see the purple wall underneath it. To me, it completely drowns the people on the set in visual noise/distraction. The "set" in Hasan's streaming room was much better in that sense, I know it had the shelves with lots of stuff on it but it wasn't as much in the face.
QT has been gone so long we've somehow gotten to half the episode being about tits, truly incredible

Amazing to see QT having been transformed into a decorative prop for the studio as a statue to the left of stavros.
Not sure how large the set is behind the cameras, but some sound dampening will definitely help, still quite a lot of echo coming through on the mics.
Also saw another comment about it, and I entirely agree, the overhead lighting is very harsh, I think a slightly toned down warm yellow lighting will do wonders on the set, make it feel a lot cozier.
And just a preference thing, but this episode was just legs, it was the table mainly that supported this previously, but also this angle is very low down and it's a little jarring. It's like the set mixed the yard and trash taste, for the yard the cameras are so far back that the legs aren't as prominent, and when they do close ups, it's usually waist up, and for trash taste they have the benefit of the table.

Now for some real criticism: This feels cramped, uncomfortable, cold, overwhelming. It makes you all look like toddlers. The lighting makes you look bad. The purple reflecting back on everyone makes your skin look gross. There’s not enough space to separate all people from each other or the walls. It looks like a Sunday School / Bible study setup.

I'm in the minority, but not feeling the new set. I know after covid, anime is EVERYWHERE and seems like everyone and their mother is into it, but seeing this just adds to the mountain of anime aesthetic stuff i see on the daily basis. The old set was bright, clean and focused on guests. A nice break from the meta. Not sure how extra guests could come on and miss the big table everyone could eat on.
