Thanks for the breakdown of some of these waza - especially the debana-kote viewed from motodachi's side. I shall try this at our next practise!

Aloha from Hawaii. I love your channel and your teaching techniques. Can you explain more about moving to your right when hitting debatable kote. I always have been moving to my left but I want to learn your way. 🙏

Thank you for watching. We have not made a video of the explanation of exiting to the right side after hitting the Debana-Kote, but if you watch this video, you can see the action in slow motion, so I would suggest you to watch this first.

A couple things for Mr. Kajitani:
    1. VAR is actually being used at various taikai in Korea, and in Japan. I'm actually surprised you have not seen this yet. For other viewers that may comment later: I live in the same city as Kajitani-sensei and visit the same dojo he records his videos in. VAR was used at a middle school tournament in Oita prefecture and also at a company taikai last year.
    2. The level of competitors will always vary wildly when the financial burden lays with the individual. Not every country has funding for their national teams. Also, the national representatives may not be the strongest members from their countries. Case in point, and one Mr. Kajitani should be well aware of: Here in Oita prefecture there are 3 foreigners all 6th dan and in their early 30's. None of them have ever competed in international taikai, or represented their countries because they have different priorities in life. Another example of this is my own wife.
    3. I agree with raising the level of shimpan. Even in Japan shimpan judging the taikai might be the same dan rank as the competitors.
