I mean this is the most helpful way possible...I have long enjoyed your vlogs, but have you ever watched one when you're done. You speak so quickly, but I'm used to that, but when you scroll through photos I can't even begin to keep up...I'm sure you've already viewed the photos but WOW! Also...you described different types of housing, but how do we search for those?...as houses?...as chateaux? Met one of your agents last spring and she was lovely.
Hi there Glenn, Unfortunately by nature I am a fast talker (and believe it or not I slow my self down for the videos!). For the photo's actually no, I only look at the first ones, I leave the discovery to the video to make it natural. Looks like I must have a fast eye so to speak. Saying that, I am not trying to present these properties for sale as they are not with me, so I don't want to spend too much time earning money for others, so to speak. The aim of the video was to make people aware of their existence. For the property search if you take any of the property types mentioned, ie "maison forte" and add "a vendre" afterwards, eventually with a department or town name following, you should find a selection.
A "Commanderie" of a medieval crusader order would be called "Preceptory" in english. A "Donjon" would translate as a "Keep", meaning a fortified residential tower, usually inside a castle or settlement.
We bought a moulin last year, but that's what we wanted from the start. It's just lovely having the water flow around and under the house. Was a lot cheaper than a chateau and no where near the maintenance and energy consumption.
So many elderly people are trapped in England with 'unsympathetic' neighbours, high costs and very small pensions . There are small , sometimes very small houses in the Limousin that they could probably afford to buy and have better weather, better food and live modestly but well. Not all of the houses need work done. Just a thought for a different clientele for you!!
Hi @joseeallyn9950. I totally agree with you on that one. And the Limousin isn't the most rural place either. For around 50,000 GBP you can find some perfectly liveable, if not perfect 2 bedroom houses. There is also the Cotes d'Armor in, Brittany, La Corezze and the Creuse departements. Our other channel has a whole selection of properties in all price brackets. ua-cam.com/users/thefrenchpropertyspecialists
Looking at these agents many of the French interiors show a lot of chairs. So let us put a chair here and over there one too. And here is some space left, why we put a chair here?
Thank you for all your information. But in general all the buildings are really rotten and have no value. To built from scratch will cost a fortune, whatever the scale is. I wonder if anyone is really keen going in such a venture. But interesting to follow your explanation. 😊😊😊
Hi there, Dan This is my first experience watching something on your channel, and I almost clicked off for the sheer fact of the sporadic scrolling of the photos, which you seem to be using as an example of the different types of properties available for purchase, no? This strikes me as a teaching/learning video, and that was what attracted me to it, however, a 'teacher' needs to display a bit more patients. I quit literally started feeling anxious because I couldn't completely focus or absorb your content. Before I subscribe (which I have a desire to) I'll give one or two of your videos another try, in the hopes they aren't quite so jumpy. I very rarely leave comments and normally would simply move on to someone else's channel, however I wanted this feedback to be helpful, so your channel will grow and you'll continue to make this type of content that I am very interested in. I live and grew up in California in the US, but am now looking to move abroad, so yes, I'm extremely interested... however, as of now, and with all the other content out there, I wouldn't subscribe because this video started giving me anxiety. My comment is only meant to be constructive, not criticism at all, and I hope it is taken as such. P.S. I would think long term as far as filming another agents listing... yes, in the short-term you may be helping another agent sell their property because you have filmed it and listed it on your channel, however, in the long term, more valuable content earns more subscribers, hence higher paying advertisers, which could lead to a decent passive income from your channel. Not to mention, if I knew of an agent that had access to so many different types of properties even if they were not their own listing, that would make me want to work with them more. And if the other agents are smart enough, they will realize, by you filming and adding their property to your channel, it will only help them sell it faster... win, win. All the best to you on your journey.
The amazing thing about UA-cam is that when you get enough courage to start your YT channel, you work hard to make it work, there always those that have never posted a video on UA-cam who are there to tell you how to do it better.
I wouldn't think so. For me a command post is like a make-shift hut in the middle of a battle, and a Garisson needs to house several hundred troops. But I might be wrong too. One person mentionned "Preceptory" which I didn't know

Watch it on UA-cam and then you can go at your own pace.
Great info! I look forward to coming content!
Thank you

I didn't know about the Preceptory, thanks for that, I should of known about a "keep", but guess I have been in France too long I am going native!
Interesting to watch. Of course I liked and subscribed a couple of weeks ago when your chateau series started.
Many thanks...
Great explanation of all these terms. Worth looking at some of those, especially for lower budgets.
Glad you liked it

There is something really relaxing about living by running water!! Having lived by a river and on a boat!
@@FrenchEstateAgent it's paradise, we have views of the Pyrenees as well, so the best of both.

There are always buyers for all sorts of property, it is just a case of matching one to the other
Simple logic: After the conquest, the Normans Donjon was the Englishmans Dungeon. He only got to experience the lower part.
Sounds plausible!
lovely places thank you
Thank you...
Some interesting properties
Thank you
I would very much like to see a Mas in a viniard
May I suggest trying a bottle of wine from Mas de Dumas Gassac, you won't be disappointed.
Hi Dan, can you please tell, me about the area of Nevers?
Unfortunately no. I haven't got that far yet.
Hi there, Dan

I think the correct translation of the French donjon is 'keep'
I should of known about a "keep", but guess I have been in France too long I am going native!
Is renting out Gites / rooms classed as running a business which would mean being able to live in France if your from the UK ?
Yes it is considered running a business, and COULD be suffisant to live in France if the turnover is high enough.
find allso farm buildings ty
There are plenty of farm buildings, but hardly considered prestigious
Commanderie = Command Post or Garrison.
I wouldn't think so. For me a command post is like a make-shift hut in the middle of a battle, and a Garisson needs to house several hundred troops. But I might be wrong too. One person mentionned "Preceptory" which I didn't know
A simple house in San Diego will set you back a cool million bucks.
Ow!
I cant follow your speaking. Too fast for me with your accent.
