This video is well timed. We went food shopping today in Sainsburys. They do have a lot of produce that is loose and you just weight it and it prints a label HOWEVER I noticed for example, the only loose potato’s we’re shipped all the way from Cyprus so I went for the ones that were in plastic but grown here in the UK. I’m not sure which choice is better there but the loose ones were new potatoes and I’m not keen so that tipped the balance for me. I’m not successful at totally plastic free yet but I try harder every time I go and have been learning more and more through yours and other sustainable/zero waste UA-camrs and I’m gradually learning more about how nuanced things can be (the potato situation above was just one example of many debates I had with myself) It’s added difficulty because I shop with my partner who doesn’t have the same passion as me regarding the subject (he’s supportive at least) and a toddler who is impatient - it’s overwhelming at times 😅 hopefully as time goes on, I will get better at quick decisions.
Don’t focus on plastic free, it’ll only give you more stress than it’s worth. Gittemary and Shelbizleee have both talked about this in better detail than I could lol but trying to go plastic free in our society can just create some eco anxiety that isn’t worth the headache 😊

Would be interesting if you did a video about the waste in different products' whole lifespan! I often voluntarily buy in plastic (mostly produce) because it reduces food waste so much. In this case, the waste reduction happens primarily before the veg/fruit/etc hits the grocery store, so it's kind of invisible low waste, and I think many people don't take it into consideration. Idk if you already have adressed this, would be cool to hear your thoughts! 😊 And must add that I feel the pain with the plastic windows and other kinds of "mixed packaging" and plastic bags inside cardboard boxes! 🙈🙈 It's SO UNNECESSARY, why do they do this! Wouldn't it be cheaper to them too, if there was less packaging used??

I have considered using 3d printing as a means of turning the excessive amount of plastic that the industry gives us as a means of going zero waste. This also means that I can use the plastics from my neighbors to help reduce their waste.
The reason why I have to choose this route is because my wife and I am polar opposites. My wife is all about the disposable lifestyle, but I am all about zero waste. Of course the vegetarian/ vegan meat products that I love so much also comes in plastic packaging.
