BOERENKOOL (a Dutch dish)
5 lbs. of yellow potatoes
1 lb. bag of kale
2 - 13 oz. turkey or beef smoked sausage rings
salt and pepper to taste
2 sticks of butter
milk
Cube potatoes, place in a big pot, and cover with water. Start the heat on medium and then put a full bag of kale right on top. (I kind of tear the leaves up a bit and make sure the hard pieces and stems are removed.) On top of that, put two smoked sausage rings. Put the lid on and turn the heat up. Let it boil lightly for 15 minutes or until the potatoes are soft. When done, take out the sausages and place them on a cutting board, then drain out the water. Start mashing the potatoes and kale together with the butter and milk until it's the consistency of mashed potatoes. After slicing up the sausages, stir them into the mash and it's done. You can season it however you want.

@@conniewach7872 I purchased 5 for Christmas gifts. One was for me! I love it!
I really enjoy your family, you are all so blessed! Really enjoyed seeing the artwork that Anna made for her daddy’s birthday! And Sara has been blessed with so much talent not only as a baker and cake decorator but so much more talents that God has given her. She reminds me of me growing up learning so much. I am sure that she is a great teacher too for her beautiful sisters! Happy Belated Birthday Sean🎉 Thank you all for sharing your lives with us! 😊
People are often concerned that homeschooled kids won't be socialized. With all your family activities, church and friend get togethers, your kids get lots of interaction. I have a feeling Janice has always been a social butterfly.
I think there should be a way to monitor home schoolers that aren't seen
@@NancyParks-zz2drWho should monitor them and what are they monitoring?
What do you mean by that?@@NancyParks-zz2dr
I don't have children and I am not even American, but if I had kids I'd homeschool them. What goes on in the schools just ruins the children. They still can have friends and socialise without being exposed to all the harmful things like bullying, and stupid fashions, and trends kids do nowadays. I absolutely understand why some parents don't want their kids to go to school.
@@Sweetrottenapple I plan to homeschool my future children as well!
❤ Out of the entire video the most important thing that is going to stick with me is you walking out to see your children sitting around the campfire enjoying life & family.❤
My favourite type of video from you guys! ❤
Another video that made my day :-) Rebekah is such a ham, it's crazy to see her picture from when you started the channel (like the one in the opening) to the toddler she is today. I always love watching your family and you guys are the best!!

Thank you for sharing a great video today. It helps lift some spirits in wake of the first hurricane and now the second hurricane on its way. Prayers to all that who are affected by this devastating and tragedy.🙏❤️✝️
I grew up eating boerenkool (pronounce oe as uu and oo as oh). I was instantly transported back to Moeke (Mama) in her kitchen cooking for her brood of seven children when I saw the dish. I was raised in the state of Limburg, Netherlands. Thank you for sharing. ❤ It’s been over sixty years since I’ve had it. 😢
I caught myself laughing out loud a couple of times at adorable little Elizabeth🤣 I love the what you eat in a week videos. Your whole family is adorable. Ty for sharing.

Thanks for loving your little runner duck and seeing that he has some friends, that's so sweet of you. Speaks to the softness of your heart:)
Aww, thank you Norma!😊 I definitely have a soft spot for our animals, but especially the ducks and I want them to be happy!
Hi Janice. Love your family and your channel. Sending hugs and prayers to all of u
So precious! I smiled all the way through. Thanks for sharing all of your blessings.
So happy that the little runner duck has a little family to belong to.😍
Thank you for sharing Janice and family ❤
Food, faith, family and fun! What more could you ask for? 😊 Great video. Amazing family. You guys made me hungry😂.
I have that metal pan (the one holding the cheese sticks) my mother n law passed in 93 and I took over the kitchen and I absolutely love it. I use it several times a week. She used it for her cake pan for many many years. She said it was convenient because you just leave it in the pan and then toss the lid on it.
I just love watching what you eat in a week. I get great ideas and your meals always look so delicious. Love sweet Rebecca’s adorable Flower wreath for her hair! Happy Birthday to your husband!
I love that you get a kick out of your kids! I always felt that my Mama felt the same way about us. My baby sis Holly got a lot of attention from all of us. Such a joy!
I really enjoy these weekly meals videos. Sarah look great in her Goodwill dress. It fits her perfectly. I like the ruffle she added That dress was a good score.
You have such a sweet family. So blessed.

HI Janice and Family. Please pray for all in FLORIDA. It is a MONSTER a CAT 4 or CAT 5.
Loved every minute of this video. What a blessing to hear the praise and worship music from your living room! Your meals always inspire me, even though I only cook for one!
What a FUN video! SO much yummy food and meals. Awww. LOVE the picture at the end of Shawn with his cool cake. His birthday meal looked awesome! Loved the praise and worship singing. How special... 🥰

Thankyou for sharing ..Belated Happy Birthday Shawn ...
It's bad here in Asheville NC please pray. I was lucky enough to get to a laundromat this morning, I have no water but I do have all other utilities so I am blessed more then others
🙏🏻Prayers!🙏🏻
We love you guys and are praying for you. Plz don't ever feel like Asheville and all the other communities are forgotten!
I'm in bryson. We have many donations been trying to get that way. If you're accessible by car let me know what you need and will do my best to get it there!!
Rest assured your NC neighbors “down the road” are praying and gathering supplies and provisions for you all in western NC! I have been volunteering at our local donation site and to see the people and amount of love that they are bringing in to send your way has been absolutely one of the most humbling experiences of my life. From the one precious little lady who brought a single grocery bag with a few canned goods (and I personally know that was a sacrifice for her), to the couple who bought out every single coat at the Goodwill store down the street, to the local company who trucked in over 400 propane cylinders to head westbound to help, it was all given in the spirit of answering God’s call to love thy neighbor as thyself. Western North Carolina will not be forgotten in the coming days, weeks, and months ahead! 🙏❤️🙏
Hi Janice,
Thanks again for a great video.
I had a suggestion: did you ever hear of solar tea? We make it here (PA). All you need is a large glass jar ( about a gallon), about 4 to 5 bags of tea ( green or black). Plop the tea in water, cover the jar and let it out in the sun. It will do the trick as long as it's not freezing outside (obviously). Then, add whatever flavoring you'd like (sugar, mint, honey, lemon, etc...)
That way, I don't have to use the stove and waste energy: the sun does it for me.
Thanks again and love your kids.
Happy Birthday Shawn!
Claire
We do it with regular tea and call it sun tea, great way to save fuel and I think it tastes better.
Enjoyed your home video with family and friends
Thank you for such a wonderful visit, you and your family are a pleasure to hang out with. I love your week of meals videos, a lot of delicious food passes through your house. Praise to Jesus. 🙏❤️
Great video, wish we could have heard more of the praise and worship sounded beautiful
Another wonderful video,, love watching your videos and seeing your children helping out and enjoying every day. You are so inspiring. God bless you all.
Janice have you ever considered having fried green tomatoes?
My oldest brother's nick name was Herbie, long before the movie and he drove a green VW, my other brothers became Herbie2 and Herbie3 and then I came along 5 years later and was called Herbie Helen, all long before the movie so fell in love with the movie when our children came along.❤
I love your videos. Your kids seem so sweet.
Purple sweet potatoes are my absolute favorite I tried to grow them but it didn't work well I'm here in California and I just took like a root from one of them oh my goodness I just love them they're my favorite and if you mash them at the holidays they make the table so beautiful.
So much fun. The children are fun. Relaxing outside around the fire eating yummy treats. I love your singing Rebecca and you are so cute & funny.
Food looked Delicious. ❤😊🙏
Ms. Ruby
Absolutely LOVED the video! Question for you .... would you ever consider filming one of your Praise and Worship "sessions"? I am disabled and am not able to get out much .... the minute (make that second!) I heard that wonderful music and those beautiful voices, I teared up!!! Oh, how I miss being able to attend get-togethers like that!!! You could even Live Stream it so we could all be Praising the Lord with our voices lifted up together! I know this might not be possible since you would have to have everyone's permission to film them, etc. but I just had to ask .... oh, what it would do for my soul!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful family, your sweet, loving children and your homestead! I'm blessed to be one of your subscribers!
Much love to the whole family from a grateful watcher down here in Central Texas! ❤❤❤
Yeah!! These are my favorite videos you guys do.

I’m worried about Milton so this definitely made me happy! I live in Jacksonville, fl so hopefully won’t be too bad but we’ll see.
Oh April, I pray that you will be safe from Milton! There are so many crises going on and it's hard to wrap my mind around it all!
Janice and Shawn you are both such amazing parents! I think of so many things I want to say during the video and sat the end….my mind is blank 😞
Love it!11 looking forward to our Tuesday night live…. Continued prayers for the hurricane victims… Another storm on its way… Jesus we need you!

Hello Family i do enjoy a camp fire and love roasting hotdogs this brings back childhood fun things i was doing on the beach spending hours sitting around the fire singing camp songs. This is long over due maybe this weekend i will go to the beach and build that camp fire with hotdogs baked beans and chips. I live right across the street from the lake and beach plus the camp grounds. Time for some fun. Gypsy From Michigan.
just a thought but maybe a kitchen shears might be easier to cut up the bacon.
Have my lunch and ready this time, instead of starving while watching ;) Monique in Canada 🍁
Enjoy your lunch AND the video, Monique!! :)
Nice video hope the ducks get along!
Such a beautiful princess hair crown!!
'Not food, just snacks' - wow !! I know there's a lot of work goes into this kind of video but it's great to see all the children.
Janice, I have a complaint - 😅 not enough of the praise and worship xx

When I need to cut up bacon lunch meat I will use my kitchen scissors because it makes it so much easier. Just an idea. Love your videos
Great tip, Melissa! Thanks for taking the time to share it. I've mentioned it to the children and we're going to try to remember it for next time! :)
Hope you had a good weekend
It was nice for you to get together with your Church family and by canning your own meat and broth. It’s right at hand to that you can quickly put together soup.
I like when you said, "Real life." Says it all.
Andrew he knows how to eat and it looks fantastic.
Can you adopt me please Janice? I promise I will help out around the homestead and do house chores when requested, especially in the kitchen 😁 I definitely won't complain about the delicious meals and will eat everything on my plate too. I promise to love on those silly ducks and keep them entertained all day 🙃 Pretty please? 😂😂😂
Great video! From tears of laughter to tears of joy. Have a blessed week 🙏❤️❤️❤️🏴
Thank you for being so sweet to us! You definitely make me smile! :)
@@ozarkfamilyhomestead ❤️❤️❤️
Angie puts on a lovely feast!!!
I have camped near the real “Hundred Acre Wood” from the Winnie the Pooh books.
A A Milne lived in the area and in the books there is a bridge where they play Pooh sticks, and the real life bridge looks exactly the same, and every tree nearby is plucked of twigs, but the river is full of them!!!
It is a magical place in the very south of England, but I live about as far away as you can get in the north west of England :-)
Thanks Janice I love these❤!
My favorite videos you do…would’ve loved to have listened to that gospel singing..
