I think you said in one of these live streams that you always try to milk every possible bit out of the chord/scale and my God you certainly do! You seem to be able to play all of the best sounding notes at exactly the right time and seamlessly weave through the changes like it's nothing! The affect it has is so profound and evokes such emotion. This is a rare talent!
I missed the live stream. Per, can you share some tips about your heavy and lead tone? Do you have a favourite neural plugin? Do you use any pedals going into your audio interface?
I rarely use pedals going into the DAW, aside from the Boss SY-1 which I use to get synth tones. In this video I am using Archetype Nolly. On the new Scar Symmetry album I'm using Archetype Plini for all leads, Omega Ampworks Granophyre for rhythms and Darkglass Ultra for the bass guitar
I'ts very interesting that you mention Symphony X as a big influence, a few weeks ago I showed Scar Symmetry to my brother 'cause I thought he might like it (he did, a lot!) and after listening for like a minute or 2 he says to me something among the lines of "it's like a mix of Meshuggah and Symphony X" , that was his first impression at least, there's more to it of course. I re-read the contest rules and that doesn’t seem to be the case. You have to submit exactly one according to the rules email. Maybe they changed that rule 🤷🏻♂️
