Stunning. I used to do papier-mâché masks when I was little (grade school age) and loved it so much. I would love to do this technique with either napkins or rice paper for the rich designs or inclusions in the paper. I think it would add such an interesting texture. TFS your astounding talent with us. Thanks to you generous, dedicated ladies and gents of You Tube my artistic education has grown leaps and bounds.
Jeanette I was glued to my screen, I can't wait to watch part 2. She's a fine looking doll with her gorgeous hairdo and armless physic, lol. This is a fab tutorial. You have such a calming voice, I could listen to you all day. Lee x
I saw this video in 2015. Then a few years later got a phone. I looked for this video, but couldn't find it. Today, finally I'm back to say your work is so original, classy interesting and like a professional! Like in Toy Story, there is this professional guy who restored the doll as best as he could🤠 I love your voice too. Now when I'm finally here, I've forgotten what I wanted to say.😂
Forgot to say: you have such a friendly, calm and nice voice! Relaxing to listnen to. I am a high sensitive person, and sometimes someone could speak with accents, or high or very low.... but this is very good. I think you have a optimistic mind.
I have made dress forms with this method except I have the person wear an old tight tshirt then cover that with duct tape then paper mache with real varnish/varithane mixed with plaster of paris and white glue ... with the cheese cloth in between the layers (once it is completely dry) it is strong like fiberglass....I never thought of doing this for a doll ...Very Clever!!Thanks for the tutorial I am definitely going to do this !
Incredible tutorial!!!!! Thank you so much!!!!! Can't wait to try this!!!!!!! Now I'm off to the 1.00 store for a little doll! ;)) You are amazing!!!! What a beautiful piece!!!!!!!
Congratulations on topping half a million views on this one, Jeanette! It's a wonderful project and a wonderful tutorial. I'm glad so many others have found it.
Excellent tutorial! I will have to go into the attic now and look up the Barbie dolls I used to collect. I'm so excited to start. It's going to be fun. Thank you Jeanette. xxx Moriah
wow spectacular! This truly is a piece of art! Unbelievable that something like this can be made so, what looks like, easy, but im sure is much harder!
So nice to meet your youtube,i found you on Pinterest and shared this video on my board, you have a lovely voice and love the way you work with paper mache.
First, this is so amazing! Second, I was laughing out loud when you were talking about cutting the dolls hair off, then it brought back a memory... when I was little I cut the hair off one of my dolls and told my little sister, "see it doesn't hurt, you should cut your hair" and she did! My mom had a fit, I can still remember sitting at a local donut counter and all she had was stubble across the front of her head, lol!!!
Thanks so much for putting up another fantastic tutorial!! Love it! It's so nice to hear the magpies or carrowongs in the background. Makes me feel like it's early morning even though it's 10.30pm. TFS hugs Shaz
This is marvelous. For "cheese cloth" I used instead medical surgical all gauze sponge is perfect, cheap because you can 200 3x3 12 ply for 3 to 4.00 dollars here in America. You can use it for cleaning brushes and many other things if not crafting. Also for different colors and such you can use thin decoupage or wrapping tissue paper in the party section has a lot of choices for colors and design, just more delicate so you have to as you say dab and not swipe also molding with your fingers is good with the tissue paper. I also have used glitter fabric paints. If you want jewel designs. Jewel nail art pieces glued on is perfect.
hahah .. oh dear!!! :) my son did the same thing to my daughter when they were younger :/ luckily hair grows back hey!! Thanks so much for watching and commenting :)
i loooove the way you talk. im a barbie lover so this really made my day. thank you so much! Love from Malaysia & Indonesia. Well im an Indonesian that lives in Malaysia. So im very thankful! See how excited i am? XD
Thank you so much for replying, giving me this link. It's absolutely fantastic & instead of doing jobs, am going straight to part 2!! Housework is so overrated, don't u think? Lol :))
She's narrating all you need to know. There are people who are passionate about art and are actually making this following her tutorial. So stop being an ass to a beautiful and talented lady.
I think this is one of the most interesting projects I've seen so far and I will attempted to tackle it, though it will take me some time to reach your level of skill if I'm at all successful. Your creativity is amazing and inspiring.
Totally loving this tutorial Jeanette! Must find an old barbie doll so I can try this! Thank you so much for sharing, and looking forward to the next part! Hugs d.
excellent video. I'm saving this in favourites and can't wait for next part. i to got cheesecloth from the kitchen stall in the market and it's cheap. on the fabric stall they sell cheesecloth fabric but that's much more dense and doesn't fray the same. cheesecloth is lovely with modelling paste on my canvases
Thank you for sharing this wonderful tutorial. I love how detailed you are in showing how to get the correct shape etc...I can't wait to try. The end result is beautiful. Deborah
Thank you so much for sharing your talent with everyone for free! I really appreciate it. There's another video on UA-cam from someone else who is charging money. Also, I apologize for those people grumbling about your narrative. People can get so rude on social media. Ignore them! If they knew how to use the UA-cam "Gear Box" they'd be able to speed this up instead of just leaving insults.
Hello Debra and you are very welcome :) Oh I don't let the comments bother me, this is an old video and I think it was my 'first' tutorial so I'm actually quite proud of it even if it's not perfect and a little long :) I hope you have a lovely day
I love this project and enjoy watching and listening to you. You're fun and the accent is awesome. I'm from Mississippi, USA. Like the idea of being able to use this method to smooth out my own figure. Haha.
Thank you for making this video on how to make the Art Dress w/ Paper Mache Bodice. It's obvious that you take a lot of time in creating your projects as well as making the videos.
Thanks so much for making and sharing this tutorial with us :-) It was just at the weekend I watched your video on the Beautifully Gorgeous Art Dress you had made, that I raced down to the shops to purchase my own doll and give the paper mache bodice a go! Although I followed your general directions in the previous video, this has been extremely helpful with the little extra hints and tip :-) Off to check out Part II :-)....thanks again for sharing your amazingly inspiring talent!
When I saw the doll with the hair cut off, It scared me half to death. LOL. I will have to find A doll with short hair already. LOL. Clowns scare me also. LOL. I love the corset and can't wait for part 2. Thanks so much for doing this tutorial. Hugz, Diane

Thanks for your response to my comment. I am really sorry if it offended you. Your tutorial is very, very good and it sounds like you are using very good quality recording equipment since the mic picks up so much background noise. Please keep up tutoring online as you are very talented and it is generous of you to take the time to share your skills with everyone. The end result is lovely.

Good grief, Jeanette -- I've been making these for a few years - and I bought dolls at the thrift store -- one bag had three adults and one child marked down to 99 cents -- but the fact you searched for a doll with narrow hips and indented waist is amazing to me -- it's like a chef at the farmers' market picking the specific ingredients he needs. It's so early here -- I can't sleep -- so I'm browsing youtube and pinterest and this popped up -- I've watched it before, but am going to watch it again -- I did steal your idea about using gauze with the glue on the bodice for strength -- is that in this video stream? Anyway, great idea - and your doll is gorgeous -- I hope you & family are well -- Patricia

I've been wanting to do this for a while, but I think I'll use phone book pages--a lot thinner, porous, easy to mold. Thank you!
I think phone book paper is a great idea to try, just see how it goes as to how many layers you need because you would still want some firmness with the end result :) Thank you so much and thanks for watching :)
