Hi Folks! I've let this video run long so you can see all the different parts of the process for making a snow baby. It's broken up in to chapters so you can skip ahead to the part you want to see. ♥
This is at the top of the Best Videos I have ever watched. I was introduced to a whole new world. Your creations are incredible. Thanks so much for sharing your talents.
Hello, I’ve just found your UA-cam channel on spun cotton baby. I’m only new to this art ans I’m fascinated. Your method is much better than others. I have subscribed and hoping to follow your videos. I live in Australia and my name is Edda. Thank you for sharing.
i haven't quite gathered the materials yet, but I still keep coming back to this for the bgm you chose. it's so lovely and soothing, what are the pieces called?
I did that but mine still came out lumpy as it cooled it got stiffer, I added more warm water to it but it was still clumpy, any idea as to what I am doing wrong please?@@SmileMercantile
Make a slurry of the cornstarch first- one tbsp starch to one tbsp water, and then add it to the simmering pot just a little at a time, stirring and cooking after each little bit. It will be smooth.
Yes! You can always add cotton, and letting layers dry periodically actually makes a sturdier figurine. You would just brush with starch to moisten it after it has dried, to add the next pieces. :)
If you're working with cotton quilt batting it's very easy to dye with Rit. Cotton coil and medical cotton are easier to add color with paint after making the figures.
It's medical cotton and cornstarch. Here's the supply list: www.smilemercantile.com/blogs/tutorials/snow-baby-project-demo-making-a-spun-cotton-doll-from-scratch

Hello, what is the applied solution? I am writing with translation because I do not understand your language
It is 1 tablespoon cornstarch added gradually to 1 cup of simmering water, and cooked for 2 minutes.
@@SmileMercantile Thank you very much. 🌺
Lovely book
Thank you so much! 🥰
so beautiful!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge...it is a treasure to watch it!! Do you use potato starch to put over the cotton? I love this craft!❤
Cornstarch! Potato starch works just the same though. Thanks for watching! 💕
Lovely video, what paints are good on these materials
beautiful
Is medical cotton (the long strips) the same type hairdressers use when you get a perm?
That is cotton coil, and it would work just as well for this project. Here is the medical cotton roll I used: amzn.to/3NHXz1M
❤❤❤ love this. Do you sell your silicone molds for baby faces? The face you use is really adorable.
I don't sell the molds, but I may have the pressed clay faces in the future. ❤️
@@SmileMercantile oh good, great idea. You’re so talented.❄️
Has the cornflour & water been heated and mixed together to make the binding medium, please. Also, what is the ratio?

Thank you very much for postín this
What are you adding with the soon at the end?
It's fine grain clear glass glitter ❤️✨
Que lindeza!! So beautiful!! 💕🇧🇷
Is it poseable once dry?
Only slightly, and not at all once the glitter is added. Best to pose earlier on.
@@SmileMercantile wow❤️답변 너무 감사합니다! 전분이라니! 상상도 못했어요!
Is that salt you put on at the end?
It's glass glitter ❄️
Where do we find the doll heads?
I was searching and searching to find a good face mold for this dolls ..
Salve dove si può comprare il suo libro grazie
They are on Amazon, thank you: amzn.to/3Phwk0x
Where do I buy the book? Edda
Hi Edda, thank you for watching. ♥ You can find the how-to book here: amzn.to/4b54JJI
6/10/22- question? can i stop mid way through making (working with the cotton) put down and return to finish the next day?????? thanks for answer.
Yes! You can always add cotton, and letting layers dry periodically actually makes a sturdier figurine. You would just brush with starch to moisten it after it has dried, to add the next pieces. :)
Hi
Where you find this face mold?
I show how to make the face at the beginning of the video. You need to find an old doll, and make the mold. ♥
@@SmileMercantile Thank you ♡
Hello, where or what brand of cotton are you using?
This is the cotton I used: amzn.to/3HixGUL
WHat is the doll you used to create that face? THe face is gorgeous.
To make the mold I used a German composition doll. The features of the face aren't too deep, so it's easy to paint! ❤️
hi! if i wanted it to be colored, is spun cotton easy to dye?
If you're working with cotton quilt batting it's very easy to dye with Rit. Cotton coil and medical cotton are easier to add color with paint after making the figures.
@@SmileMercantile thank you! what kind of paint works best- just acrylic?
I like to use acrylics diluted with starch, but just about any paint will work. I have a whole section on adding color in my book! :)
Is it a special type of cotton wool? And what is it you brush on? Fascinating skill . 😊
It's medical cotton and cornstarch. Here's the supply list: www.smilemercantile.com/blogs/tutorials/snow-baby-project-demo-making-a-spun-cotton-doll-from-scratch
