The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

What an amazing voice. Such control and tone and endless breath control. One of the greats.
Excellent interpretation and voice
the beautiful, sophisticated style of the great Barbara Mcnair!! thanks
She truly has a beautiful voice✨🥂💎✨
She looked 😍 in that dress 👗
Barbara McNair was fabulous- gorgeous and a divine vocalist.
Beautiful lady with a beautiful voice, style and class.
Beautiful voice! The lyrics to this song are so true. I didn't enjoy those painful times in my life, but when the real joy came... I knew it!! The painful times is when I grew the most...
Thank you for sharing! 💖
I had no idea she could sing until I googled her after watching a “Jeffersons” episode. She was very talented.
😂You must have saw the Jefferson's short just like me. I had no idea neither. She was so talented.
I just watched that episode and googled her too. Beautiful voice.
What a beautiful voice clear smooth as silk very great singer 💓💓💓💓
This song is so beautiful! Loved it.
Sittin' here...man I could listen and WATCH this 4days....
She had a wonderful voice, her Motown songs are fantastic, her song Your Going to Love My Baby, is one of the best the Hit Factory ever released.
I agree
Barbara Mcnair sung Motown hits...really ? Everyone sung this Stevie Wonder original in the 60s and 70s. What is her nationality, is she bi- racial ? She wasn't including alot of SOUL in her style and delivery during her heyday.
@@marvinking9848 Just google her, all the information is on her Wiki page.
I have that song on the single! Such a good song!!
Yes the longer version of ‘you’re going to love my baby is unbelievable
When will Ms. McNair's story be put on a platform giving her legendary status like Dorothy Dandridge? She has beauty and a memorable powerful voice on par with a Shirley Bassey, emoting sooo much passion.
Totally agree. She had a huge presence in the 60’s, was everywhere. Then more or less disappeared and now, no where in the history of her time.
I would give Bassey a slight nod,but no question McNair falls in the proverbial category of " Talent Deserving Wider Recognition".
Delicate, yet powerful! Thank you ~♡~
Ouch, boom, bang, dagnabit!
Grateful, ever so...
I definitely remember her from back in the day!
What A Beauty and Very Talented Singer!
☆☆☆☆☆
💯
I hope someone will do a documentary or biopic…or even an Unsong
I saw her in 1967 Dec.,CuChi. She sang a beautiful song at the Bob Hope Christmas Show for the USO.
Racquel Welch was their dancing and doing Linda Ronstadt " Beat of a Different Drum" in her beautiful way but Barbara' beautiful voice and appearance got me.
I never knew that Barbara has such a beautiful strong voice it's AMAZING! @Along with Mary Tyler Moore and Jane Elliot, Barbara McNair played opposite Elvis in his last movie "Change Of Habit" in 1969. The three ladies played Nuns, Elvis portrayed a Doctor.
Thank you for sharing! 💖
I didn't realize who that was.
@@that70sgirl90 Thank you 70's Girl...well i never knew that she was a singer, a real fine singer!
@Btw the Elvis Movie is a very good one too...😉
@@haraldtrittner4396 I agree! I've scene them all, more than once. 😄 Elvis is doll!! 💖
@@that70sgirl90 You are the Best💐😊
@@haraldtrittner4396 Ditto! 🌻
Beautiful job! Thank you for sharing this.
Beautiful voice, beautiful woman. Her mouth and smile is the same as the one that made Farrah Fawcett famous.
Beautiful like her voice
I remember watching her show with my mom. Thanks for the video.
A stunning voice and a beautiful woman…….
Real talent, and utter class…..
🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼
After learning that there was a version recorded before Stevie Wonder's, had go back and find it. Glad I did.
Love it! Motown sure did underutilize her.
She does a real good slowed down version.
this is how the song was originally recorded.
@@1talldaddy I keep thinking of Stevie Wonders version, but your right, it was written as a slow ballad for McNair.
@@BleedBNG i figured that.people are so used to hearing Stevie's version they forget it's remake.
When I see her, I see Vanessa Williams, or should it be vice versa....never-the-less
BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL!
I watched the final episode of original Mission Impossible and she gave a fine performance as a villain. Her and Greg Morris embrace and both coyly whisper" What's Love Got to Do With It". I would bet Tina Turner and or her associates were viewing and got the idea for the hit song.
Nuclear bomb just dropped. Arrangement is off the chain !
Wow. I always thought that was a Stevie Wonder song.
Love the lady, love the sound of her voice and her singing, love the song, hate the musical backing.
Barbara's terrific, but yes, the music's overblown.
The woman had lots of high highs and low lows.
*Unsung
I think Paul Williams is stil the best at this song.
It is one thing to sing 'behind the beat' occassionally for effect, it's another to do it from start to finish. It robs the song of rythym and causes it to drag. She has a nice voice, but her performance here really drags.
this was prior to her heroin arrest
@@jong0000 Ah.
@@jong0000 wow.
The cocain arrest was due to her shady Husband at the time who had close interactions with the Mob.
Her husband was a heroine addict and he had the package delivered to their home.
Ms. McNair who was home at the signed for the package not knowing the contents.
She was very taken aback and by this revelation, as she was always conscious of maintaining a clean cut image. Upon discovering the truth, charges against McNair were dropped. That to the side,
This performance was a beautiful experience as McNair had extremely impressive vocal prowess.
the beautiful, sophisticated style of the great Barbara Mcnair!! thanks
