Thanks Daniel, super job as usual and Erica has an amazing smile as usual... A question: You seem to cut the top of her head in every shot; is it your style of shooting or is it for the demo? Thanks again.
Yet another great video with a fun pro model. Off-topic question: You’ve said you’re Photoshop- challenged and don’t use it much if at all. But are there times when you’ve felt the need to use a retoucher? Just wondering.
Daniel, can you discuss lighting ratios and how you consistently achieve this look seemingly without regard for where lights are placed. Is this always a balancing act or do you have tried and true methods of placing light sources?
Nice video as always - a sketch diagram would have also helped to make it clear after showing it - looks like about 180 degrees line from main light to subject?
Hello Daniel Can you list items used for the UK I will then use your links to buy things also on your tee shirt picture you have missed of the tattoo on your arm Glenn
Another way to do hairlight is to bounce the strobe into a dimpled silver reflector. That is pretty much the standard for tv commercials the way I was taught back in the stone age. Sometimes I toss a little cto on it as well. Good explanation that the hair is reflective. Direct flash sometimes looks too obvious.
Daniel (and Erika), I think it would be neat for your models to give a short presentation on what a photographer can do to make them feel more comfortable and confident in front of the lens with each "On Set" session. Not long, but, a short brief explanation of what they expect from a photographer in terms of directions, ideas, concepts etc. Thanks! **Explanations should be given with the idea of helping those non-professional models who are helping us photographers who are learning how to shoot plus direct a model.
Erica is almost like a person that uses their hands while they talk. It's got to be difficult to keep your hands out of the shot. Nice work Daniel and Erica. Thanks for the video
Daniel next time put the filming camera away for a few seconds so that we can see exactly how and where you positioned your lights and reflectors. Nice model. Thumbs up !
As always I am amazed that I always manage to pick up a few pointers in every video you create. Many thanks.
Thanks!
Awesome little demo. Beautiful shots of a beautiful model.
Thanks!
Thanks, Daniel, for showing subtle differences in these setups. You look great, Erica.
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Always enjoy your demos Daniel, straight to the point, informative and entertaining 🤟🤟

Where’s the hair light
Thanks Daniel, super job as usual and Erica has an amazing smile as usual... A question: You seem to cut the top of her head in every shot; is it your style of shooting or is it for the demo? Thanks again.
If you show the entire head the model charges more 😝

For advertising and larger jobs a retoucher is hired. I know enough to tweak my images, but generally don't "need" to.
So how are you adding the hair light
Daniel, can you discuss lighting ratios and how you consistently achieve this look seemingly without regard for where lights are placed. Is this always a balancing act or do you have tried and true methods of placing light sources?
Thanks! Generally I start with a 1:1 ratio and adjust based on the reflectance of the hair
Nice video as always - a sketch diagram would have also helped to make it clear after showing it - looks like about 180 degrees line from main light to subject?
That sounds about right
Nice T shirt Daniel 😁 awesome demo as usual.
Thanks!

Do you guys find it better to refocus each shot or to find a safe dof and turn AF off to get faster shots?
I refocus
What reflector or diffuser did you use for the hair light. ....?????
It's a bare head

Ah cool idea! Needs some dimpled bounce board now!
Great tips! Thanks
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
thanks Daniel.... great tips
😊😊
2:06 - 2:12 - Tight horizontal is exciting, but the tried and true tight vertical rarely disappoints.
🙌🏻🙌🏻
What’s your POV on 7 foot umbrellas with diffuser?
I like umbrellas, I like big sources, I like diffusion. Soooo Hell yeah!

Not sure that would work but perhaps as a video in and of itself
that T-Shirt lol...thx 4 the video and btw: nice Erika !
🙌🏻🙌🏻
i really dont know how he gets such perfect colors. i shoot with a d800 and the 50 1.4 at f8 and its all to redish. WB put on flash.

5:56 you’re so right, Daniel...
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Love the teeshirt!
Oh yeah - and the video's useful too! :-)
Thanks!
Please do another video with the puppet.

Nice and straightforward explanation and video. And stop blocking Erica 😂
Thanks! - I KNEW it! lol

You are asking to see it set up from nothing?
Where is the hair light I don’t see it
😀😀😀😀👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great tips and very nice pictures except for the cutting off her head part. I hate that. 🙂
