  • Not all of us are morning people who love getting up at the crack of dawn to potter around the campsite. If you prefer to spend your holiday time relaxing, and sleeping in then the Coleman Instant Up 6PV tent is just what you need.
    The special coating on the fly blocks out 95% of sunlight so you won’t have blinding sunrises to contend with on your weekend away! The coating also reduces the temperature in your tent by up to 5° making it great for summer. This tent also allows you to get the kids to bed early, as the dark interior will help them fall asleep ASAP.
    Featuring the same easy to pitch Instant Up frame from Coleman, but with the addition of a front vestibule for more living and storage space - the Instant Up Dark Room 6PV tent is perfect for a group or family of late risers.
    In this video, our product expert, Ben shows us how to set up the Dark Room 6PV, and gives us a rundown of all the great features on this tent.

    I have this tent and it is excellent. I wasn’t keen on the dark room but bought this model to get the vestibule and so glad I did as it’s surprising how much you can fit in there which is great to keep things dry overnight. It ends up that the dark room is a cool feature too that I quite like. Great review vid, I watched before my purchase and it definitely helped. Cheers.

    I would buy this tent just based on the fly/vestibule alone. Looks like an awesome version of insta tent market. Some added flooring for warmth and insulation with good sleep system and a mr buddy big buddy heater and good to go for cold weather!

      They have proven to be a popular tent, myvids. Some floor mats would certainly help in cold weather, take care if you are using a gas heater in a tent though, it can be dangerous. You can read more information here - www.snowys.com.au/blog/can-you-use-a-gas-heater-in-a-tent/ ~ Ben

    Brought a 6 man tent, I love it. Only one flaw, the tent poles for the awning should be adjustable. I fixed that problem by purchasing adjustable oztrail poles, cost me extra sixty bucks.

      @SnowysOutdoors  3 роки тому +1

      Yeah, the awning poles are basic, Dirt Road, a couple of good quality extension awning poles are a good addition to any camp kit for a number of reasons though, including making the awning height adjustable. ~ Ben

    i was a little concerned about setting up my 6pv darkroom, esspecially in windy conditions, had my first outing in this tent. majors creek folk festival 2019....80km to 90km winds plus 110km wind gusts, i pegged her down all corners then velcro attached the fly to the frame while it was still low to the ground, then guyed her out to secure it then popped her up,( im 5ft2 ) this tent stood tall didnt waver at all, took longer to set up but worth the time taken love my 6pv

    I have a 6 man Coleman easy up cabin tent and I find it easier to stake down after I set up the tent.
    1. You can pick tent up can carefully lay it on it's side if need too.
    2. You can adjust tent location
    3. I always climb inside and check for uneven ground,sticks rocks,etc.
    You can't see.
    4. Then I stake and don't have to readjust.
    Try it next time.

      Thanks for your feedback IGOTAJOP America, I've set mine up in a similar manner too, the only time you may run into problems is in windy weather. On a calm day, and particularly with two people, it certainly can be beneficial to stake it out as a last step. ~ Ben

      They never seem to want to go back in the same way they came out do they Gary! The best recommendation I can give you here (from experience), is to take the time to fold the fabric as flat as possible and make sure all the poles are collapsed as far as they will go before rolling the tent, this reduces the size as much as possible and makes it a little easier to fit back in the bag. ~ Ben

    I had a Wanderer Gibson 10p and the floor felt like a cheap tarp, it held it's own against *very* strong winds on Australia Day 2019 but one of the legs wouldn't clip out properly from day 1. Have these been tested extensively for this kind of thing? I'm so keen to buy one of these tomorrow, I'm lucky enough to live near a place that sells the entire Coleman Instant Up range, *and* they price match (Snowys is a bit cheaper).

    • @SnowysOutdoors
      @SnowysOutdoors  5 років тому +2

      They have been tested, Nathan to something in the vicinity of 56kph I believe, however, they are a boxy design and aren't specifically made for wind performance but they are better quality than the Wandered tents. If you are using them in excessively windy conditions, make sure you pitch it with all guy ropes and peg points.
      I'm going to try and stop you from going to the dark side here!

    • @SnowysOutdoors
      @SnowysOutdoors  2 роки тому +1

      Most gazebo's have hook and loop strips on the underside of the canopy edge, vulcanrider. The hook and loop strip on the end of the tents awning attaches to the strip on the gazebo.
      The Coleman gazebo's are specifically made, but the only real difference is that they have a continuous strip of velcro rather than patches. You can see the Coleman gazebo here - www.snowys.com.au/deluxe-gazebo-3x3.

      The Coleman Instant Up and OZtrail Fast Frame tents are very similar, Lorenzo. The OZtrail models maybe have a few extra minor features but the Coleman Instant Up tents have been around for longer hence have had more time being tested in the field with refinements being made over the years.

    Nice review. I always do research before I buy something. It has the Coleman name but where is it made? If it's made in China it's junk. I check everything I buy I refuse to purchase items made in China because they have been taking advantage of customers from the USA for decades. They build junk and pawn off on the American customers and the products always have problems.That doesn't mean I wouldn't purchase a product from different countries. I just want quality.

    • @SnowysOutdoors
      @SnowysOutdoors  6 років тому +3

      Unfortunately, most tents are made in China nowadays, Mark. Manufacturers are making this decision in order to be price competitive. Not everything that comes out of China is junk though, it is dependant on the company overseeing the manufacturing process. Most of the problems we see with these tents can be associated with people not setting them up correctly, not considering the products limitations, or just not applying basic common sense. There's also a misconception between quality and durability. For a synthetic easy pitch tent, these are good quality, but if you want something super tough that will last thousands of kilometres of corrugated roads and rough outback environment, you would be best considering a canvas tent with a simple pole system. I agree that they are not ideal in persistent high wind conditions, but a little common sense in the instance that you are caught out will see you through.
      I have used mine in bad wind, but I either chose a sheltered spot or used my vehicle as a wind break.

      @@SnowysOutdoors I think if you're going to pay $350+ for a decent dome tent or alike, you shouldn't have to sacrifice build quality for a handy feature. Sure if I take extra care where I set up there is less chance of damage, but I can get something for $100 in Big W that won't break that easy.
      Not everyone is going to be fastidious when they choose their camping locations or time to go camping, in some cases that defeats the purpose of camping in the first place.
      The darkroom feature worked well and it kept us bone dry in a few heavy downpours. But I think most people would be much happier with a different bit of kit for the same amount of money.

      @@general8284 you're right, if you spend the same amount of money on a good dome tent then you will have a sturdier shelter that will withstand wind much better.
      Anyone buying an Instant Up tent is spending the money for the quick pitch feature, but the drawbacks of this are that they are not as sturdy in wind. The boxy design itself makes them more susceptible to catching the wind.
      All depends on the end-users wants I guess.
      Happy camping!
