Thanks Gail. We have planning permission and an urban article for a 2 bed house on the ruin. But it's a 100k project so not something we can consider right now. But one day maybe
A fantastic achievement for last year, even though you didn't get all of what you had planned done. This vlog has highlighted that off grid life is constantly busy, with some projects looking ever further away. Despite the constant hard work and planning, many would still prefer to do this, than the humdrum of life with jobs, bills and a seemingly endles rut being worn deeper by the year. Congrats on the new channel which makes good sense for choice and easier editing. You will get there eventually, once you have prioritised the remainig projects and then finally the creation of your own cabin home. It's been a great journey so far and long may it continue. 👍
Thanks and from a past life of corporate competitive consumetistic living and mortgages, my only regret is I didn't do it sooner. But equally I'm glad I did despite 60 not being far away. I've loosely set a target to have all the big jobs completed by 60 so I can enjoy gardening!
I'm watching your new gardening channel and I love it and I love watching this channel and I can't wait for all the videos to see what goes on in this year you guys are the best❤
Love seeing it when you show it altogether. So much has been done. Yes 2023 has certainly been a helluva year now let's see what '24 brings. Good luck with everything you want to achieve xxxxx
Thanks Liz has been a, rollercoaster ride as always! Does look great when you can see the achievements always, surprises me how much we've done as well do look forward to all the cabins being done so I've somewhere warm and dry to watch a film occasionally!
Our outdoor bath is filled via a long water filled hose left out in the sun in summer, alternatively fill the bath and cover it with black metal in morning..its hot by afternoon.
Please consider fermenting versus canning. Fermenting keeps the goodness of the veggies, whilst canning kills everything. The only drawback to fermentation is that it needs a cold room or refrigirator.
You are so sensible guys and should be very proud of all your achievements this year. It is fascinating how many microclimates there are on your land - we have at least 8. Your gardening channel sounds awesome and I would definitely welcome a Q and A session so we can share more information locally and generally and learn from each other. Next year when it gets hot pop over to the pool.
You had me at pool 🏊😍 But yes the microclimate, are crazy and it's so much colder in the food forest.... And so much to learn about the land, each year is easier ☺️
Respect for the graft you hvae put in. we just cashed in our very modest pension early and bought a plot in the coimbra area. cant afford to even stick a tent on it yet tho haha, whereabouts are you guys?
@@TheWildlandersOffGrid will try ;) actually looking,... and looking and looking at 'cheapish' options to put on the land, be it a 'prefab or a cabin type thing. over the last 12 months have looked aat tents, domes, the lot.. all we really need is a nice rectangle innit hAha
@@PazLeBon lol we loved the idea of a yurt but they as with bell tents albeit looking lovely don't fair well long term in the Portuguese weather. The most economic is to build your own cabin or straw bale house....

It's crazy how hot the water gets our black 50mm pipe the water is, too hot to touch! But certainly lovely bathing outside isn't it 🛀🔥💦
You should be so proud of what you have achieved in the time looking forward to seeing what you can achieve this year
Thanks Keith lots, to do as, always! And Missy forgot to mention the 1000 plants, we need to sow!!!
Looks like you are going to be very busy lol

Definitely on the fermenting, we don't have much space to store cans yet so cant can much anyway :(
You’re doing great and are an inspiration. Love the videos. Off to subscribe to the gardening channel now. Keep up the good work.
Awesome! Thank you! 🌞👌☺️

Amazed and proud of all your endeavour and projects 👍.....especially Swalesdales.....☺. Good luck for 2024 !......and beyond....
Thanks the swales are doing a great job! Can't wait to get back to planting and also finishing the cabin when we get a, dry week!

Does, all take time to get some infrastructure in.... Exciting though and sure you'll love it! Where more central Castelo Branco ish!
