60 h Winter Bushcraft - A-Frame Bucksaw - One Lavvu Canvas Poncho - No Talking

- I've been wanting to try a few days in horrible conditions without food for a while now. Hard but interesting experience. I realized right away the batteries would not last if I were to shoot everything I did during this weekend. So I had to shoot effective and I spared you the countless hours of frustrating ice fishing and me melting snow in front of the fire. Also did not include the first overnight where I set camp in the dark, and used the Lavvu as a bivy and slept in it with my Carinthia sleeping bag.
First day without food was no problem. Second day all energy left me and I spent most of the day in the sleeping bag except for a few hours of fruitless fishing. Last day my body finally went into starvation mode and I had some energy back. One doesn't feel like carving kuksas starving that is for sure.
Material for crafting is brought to the site and not harvested on location.
Bushcraft is a skillset. It's not mandatory as a bushcrafter to go naked to the woods and trying to survive. To do that every week is a unrealistic fantasy. The way I see it, bushcraft skills make hiking and camping more efficient, lightweight and interesting... and not to forget FUN!.
Building a shelter, especially if it’s for extreme cold survival, is one of my passionate interests. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you mister for sharing your nice and peacefully experience with us.
You are most welcome, thank you!
I love these bushcraft videos. I learned so much, yet they are peaceful because no one is talking, there's no music playing. and the scenery is always beautiful.
👍👍👍👍thanks!
@@Swedwoods Sweden seems like a paradise in these videos! Plus Emelie's Outdoor Adventures is there!
Thanks for that. Health issues have kept me out of the woods for two yrs. You reminded me how much i love and miss sitting in the snow with a fire.
You are most welcome sir!
In many bushcraft channels there are few videos of pure bushcraft and the rest are advertisements for pans, knives, tents, backpacks ... It looks like a f**** teleshopping!
This channel is art !!!
Thank you very much Justin!
Thanks for being silent and not putting music on the video!!!
Thanks glad you like it!

We live in Wisconsin and I can relate to the cold. This video is inspiring to me! Also thank you for not having music to distract from the experience. I subscribed!
Thank you very much!
Ditto on the music thing. I love silence.

Absolutely gorgeous. Well done sir. Really enjoyed seeing the different shelter systems, and how you made fire each time. Great stuff.
And the lack of music is PERFECT.
Thanks!!
Beautifully made video mate...winter is coming round again, the rain will stop and the snow will start and I can go camping again. I get a lot of ideas from your videos, you have a great take on camp craft.
No music, no talking and sublimely well filmed...I thank you for it.
You are most welcome! Thank you!
Awesome inspiring video's you make. I watch every evening before i go to sleep. Thank you.

Love this. The real deal. No music. I admire you. Great job.
Thanks!
Love the •No Talking• Concept! Let nature do the talking 🌿❤️ Alt det beste!
Thanks!
love the same
Another great video thank you for doing it and the ideas you come up with are brilliant take care and looking forward to your next one
Thank you!
Great video yet again! Knowing that you were hungry in this whole thing made me really think about survival. Kudos to you, sir! It looked brutal and for once I was not thinking I’d love to be out there. Many many thanks and heaps of blessings to you my friend, Nikki.
Thank you Nikki! Yes it was pretty horrible actually. Snow and temps going up and below freezing point is the worst weather to camp in really. But it was interesting to learn how difficult things get, that I normally do without even thinking about it, even after just one day without food.
thank you my friend for this comment. It moved me. All the best to you in 2020!
Land, water, fire, wind, sky
Always supporting you.
Great life Great world
Thanks!
I love the"No Talking" . Keep it up mate
Thanks a lot!
I have been inside for too long! I need to get out, make fire, make shelter, make life calm by listening to wind and fire dampened by calming giving snow. Get drunk by coffe, get peeved by smoke flavored melted snow water,. Get healty by a sleep under winter stars awoken by cold and a dire need to pee. I need to find my place in nature again, natured by being a part of the great unforgiving outdoors!
SwedMiro SwedMiro This sounds like a good lyric for a song. Thanks for that👍
Do it!
Get freezing after 10mins go home
DAMN DUDE! you should write a blog!

Amazing. Thank you so much for all your hard work and all you have shared with us over the years. Truly appreciated!
Thanks! Really odd how I appreciate my modern life and always seem to watch videos like this to maintain my modern life! Just waiting to be able to get back out one day awesome video!!!

Legend, I’ve done some camping like this in my military days and that was with all the kit. Well done great vid.
Thanks!
The best shrink ever it's that enviroment!
I spend a lot of time outside, but mostly in the summertime.I have just a few winter nights outside, i must try it again!
Thanks for the great video!!🍺🍺
Thanks glad you liked it!
I wish I could find the man like you one day. Breathtaking.
Thanks 😊
The bow saw trick was one of the best things I’ve ever seen. I’ve done bush craft stuff since the 1960s and could kick my own butt for never thinking of this before. As always another great video, well done.
Thanks a lot James!

I felt a sense of peace just by watching this video. I can only imagine how you felt out there. Wishing your camps and journeys to be safe. Thanks.
Dude this is the first time I’ve ever seen someone start or put a fire a whole fire on ice!!!
Thanks for watching!
We used to do it ice skating a lot in Maine.
Oh man! The knots in the line to hold the pot over the fire, AWESOME.
Thanks!
The struggle of weakness from lack of food is real. Nice job pushing through.
It s great to spend life in natural. I love the silent place with snow like this . It s good environment and no pollution too . Thank you for posting.
Thanks!

I love this video I bet I watched the whole thing 20+ times I watch all your videos this is my fav hands down.
Thanks a lot my friend! That is nice to hear.
😍😍
Im not a fan of these "talk to much and show you what we had to eat videos" that are all too common in this genre of film, So it was a delight to watch your experience, Also it showed the reality of survival. If you had to "bug out" for real you might not have food and all the prepared comforts of a planned nite under the stars. Well done thoroughly enjoyable silent bushcraft.
Thanks!!
I agree with the reality check on "bugging out." As skilled as this guy no doubt is, if he or nearly all of us interested in survival/bushcraft leave for the woods without a large cache of food and the know-how to restock, we are most likely going to starve to death. Food availability is highly seasonal (a week of raspberries here, a couple weeks of apples there, etc) with next to nothing for about 6 straight months around here during winter/spring unless you are hunting/fishing. If you preserve/can and cache, and are an excellent tracker/hunter/marksman with a high-powered rifle you might make it until you're taken down by a cavity or skinned knee that goes septic. Otherwise we are dead in the first 2 weeks, no matter how nice the lean-to.
I'm in hospital getting chemo for lukemia. Your videos are better than any meds being pumped into me. Seriously, the nurses ask what I'm watching, I say natural blood pressure reducer...
Thanks a lot!! I wish you a full recovery! Prayers to you and yours brother.
The knots in the #36 bank line is ingenious. This is one hard core way to check your bushcraft/survival skills. I like testing myself now and again but I don't think I would have the cajones to do it this way. You got my respect and admiration, man. Well done!
The Video content and the sound just give real experience.. Thank you for the great video..
thanks!
Solid vid. The serenity is mind blowing.
Thanks!
Pushing ourselves (within reason) is one method of learning. Still enjoyed the video. They're always in settings showing beautiful countrysides, sir.
Thanks!
I liked this post...tackled a few different environments and challenges...As always, I learned a lot...Thank you...
Thanks!
I like watching these videos with Anime theme songs in the background. Really makes it feel authentic.
Damn I would start eating my own socks after two days. Nice job as always! You got some lovely nature up there :)

I love yours camping style it's too adorable too see like this
Thank you! 😁
Great detail showing the support method for the longer log pyramid fire set. You spent a lot of time in the cold and snow...for no fish.
Thank you James. Yes that is a detail I see missing a lot of the times when people do the Nying type of fire on UA-cam. When its not ideal condition you really needs the space for air flow for at least 20 minutes before they collapse down and keep going burning slower without just being a smoke signal...
Over the eons, how many people have sought shelter under that exact same rock?? Staring out into the forest over their fire...wondering about their next meal. Great video!
exactly what I was wondering!!
I always come back to this video every year I accidentally downloaded it on my old phone and cant remember the video this video aged like a fine wine
So beautiful! Sweden is an amazing place 🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪!!

Super
How was the transition back to eating again, once you returned home? Was the fast beneficial to you in any way? This was a masterful video, as usual. I sit in the woods, in the cold. I relish the discomfort, as it also brings a certain focus. Sharper senses as well. I'm sure this is why I love what you do. Cheers and thank you, my friend.
hey my friend long time! Thank you very much! For this amount of time there was not so much difference really going back to eating. Just felt a small amount of fatigue during this. You can see it when I sawed that log...not the same energy as usual. You do things a bit slower but that is not a big deal. Even good for things actually. But one thing that is interesting every time I do something like this...is that you always get this special food or drink in your head that you want. Years ago up in the mountains I had Coca Cola as a mirage craving, tormenting me, telling myself the first thing I would get when coming back, and this time it was grilled chicken. But when you finally get that of which you have been thinking about you get disappointed. I dont know why this is. The coke was a real disappointment that time really. Its like you get better taste for healthy stuff pushing yourselves in the wild. sharpening the senses as you said. Thanks !!
Where is this place, the only one who responds to me 🥰😇😇
I can't believe I've only just found your UA-cam channel.

Really like the idea of the bow saw, Im gonna have to remember that when I go out as something for my day pack or even my 3 day pack to keep from adding extra weight with the frame.
👍👍
I saw a guy recently who kept his bow saw blade in his belt. He slid it in and out of it from an extra layer he had on his belt. Pretty cool
Absolute sumpremacy! Loved every minute brother! Excellent use of the polish lavuu 👊🏼

You found a perfect camp site! A warming fire- and hot food....all is good!
👍👍
food? he only drink pine tee
I have to agree. It seemed as though he failed at the fishing part and gave up, so where was the "hot food" part? ... Did you watch the entire video? He never ate, just was drinking pine tea starting small fires and freezing his ass off
Some are left standing in the wilderness to be used by the next bushcrafters who need them.
Thanks for all the effort you put into getting different camera angles and shots. I know it must take a lot of work. I'm sure you had to summon some extra willpower on this one given the lack of food!
All these survival/bushcraft videos are so dang fascinating and teach a lot.. Like i never really knew how to make a legit fire with just wood until now.. even damp wood.. let alone with a striker..I would usually have a torch and a big wad of paper,,cheers.
