    My parents purchased there airstream in 1969 when they got married. It is now 2023 and they have put a total of 2.5 million miles on it since 69. They are now full timers in it .

      That is wonderful to hear. That is what me and my husband want to do in three years when we turn 60. Rent is ridiculous in California; we just moved here in Dec. 2023. I rather buy this and see the world instead! Good for them! And it is nice to know these things are built to last! 🥰

    Nice trailer. I prefer the toilet and shower design all on one side like the former 26-footers. Really need two ACs on the roof.

    I love this! We've been Airstream owners since 2008 and full-time since 2017. This Trade Wind makes a lot of sense to us. Currently, we're in a 30'FC and we'd like to go smaller again. We were disappointed that the 25RB was discontinued this year (we aren't fans of FB models), but our arms could be twisted to get into this one in a Twin layout. The laminate is too grainy and rustic looking, but I'm hoping it'll grow on me. Nice job on this one, Airstream!

      Your airstream is still a young one. My parents purchased there's in 1969, and they are still using it full time in 2023. They are working there way down from Alaska to meet us in Key West this winter . They have a little over 2.5 million miles on it and it is still going strong.

    Thank you for the video. Impeccable craftsmanship inside and out. The woodwork is handsome and Airstreams smell like a newly built residential home when you walk inside compared to other RVs. Someone else mentioned auto-leveling jacks. Good idea. 😉👍

    love it. Very nice trailer and quite possibly my next one. Would like to see the 25 RB back though. Prefer the bed in the rear of the coach. nice review.

    • @jtlong8383
      @jtlong8383 Рік тому +1

      Agree! I can’t believe they dropped the rear bed. Having the beds in the back moves the entry door to the front of the coach, allowing you to get into smaller camp sites without the door hanging off the back of the site. Also the larger bathroom and just having the beds in the back.

    I like this. I wonder if it would be possible to have an induction cooktop and microwave instead and propane burners.
    I’d also like the option of deleting the propane furnace and water heater and just have an on demand electric water heater and use the heat pump for heating/cooling. I used a 400w space heater this weekend as my only heat in my old trailer and it raised the temperature from 55 to 68 overnight. I would move somewhere warmer if the temperature was going to be 40 or less.
    It looked like the queen bed had space along the wall, but the overhead cabinets would stop anyone using that side. Fine for me as mostly single but the reading lights are positioned for north south sleeping.
    I think this is the best camper I’ve seen that doesn’t have the electric drive motors. It’s definitely pricey considering I would need a more powerful tow vehicle too, so near enough to $200,000

    Just bought a Flying Cloud 27FBT. Have a little buyer’s remorse for this unit. However, I am really enjoying the desk option and the external storage with the twin beds. I got the bunk option, but basically it is useless except for a very small child. Long enough, but not enough headroom for an adult to even turn over. One of the most exciting features on the unit is the ability to recirculate the hot water. I waste so much water (filling my tank) waiting for warmer water. Can this be retrofitted? The new door handle is nice in that you can replace it with the digital locking system from RV Lock. I did that on my Basecamp but can’t on the traditional Airstream lock.

    Would like to know expectations around the DC powered Air conditioner. A basis would be fine. Possible condition could be 95% battery charge availability, 95 deg OAT, 85 deg inside temp at the dinette, 69% humidity, run time to cool dinette area to ~72 deg and available run time on DC power to sustain. Just an example, but I think a use case that the folks in the NE would be interested in. Perhaps the AS engineers could runs a few scenarios to provide consumer’s a general sense. Overall, I think this configuration is a ‘banger

  • @chrismehling9968
    @chrismehling9968 Рік тому +5

    Very nice progression forward.
    As far as feedback goes, someday, I hope we can stop talking about Amp/hours and talk watt/hours instead. Not every DC system is 12v and you may want to consider moving towards 24v or 48v to save wiring costs.
    I'd like to see a bigger battery bank, more solar and the option to eliminate gas in the galley. Instead, consider induction cooktop and convection oven.
    The amount of power that a LCD TV consumes is almost insignificant, so the move to a 12v no-name tv seems odd. I'd rather have a better quality option (Samsung/LG) even if it was AC, but I applaud the ability to bring your own device (AppleTV).
    I'm also hoping this is just the first size in the Trade Wind line and that you introduce a version slightly larger. Personally I loved the Tommy Bahama styling from a few years ago.

    For all the naysayers, I, too, loathe high prices. But this is Airstream - you already know prices are high. They're not for those of us who can't afford them. A 25-footer from Airstream is almost never below the mid-90s new. Some of their 30-footers are $200K-ish and their vans are nearly $300K.
    This thing has what no other Airstream does unless you spend $25-30K to have everything added - only exception being if you're a DIYer and then it'd be about $18-$20K and a heck of a lot of work. It's got a fully-inverted electrical system with a 3K-watt inverter. Not the usual crappy 1K-watt inverter Airstream provides that dies if you try to run something as innocuous as a tiny hair dryer or space heater. It's got 800 amp hours of lithium, 600watts of solar and room for more, recirculating water heater, holding tanks the same size as the freshwater tank (finally!), there's an option for a composting toilet (FINALLY!) along with an AC unit that'll run on battery without dying in 5 minutes and without requiring a soft start (I presume, based on looking at the specs) if you use a generator.
    Only thing I think they need to immediately course correct on is the low-end-looking fabric option. Get it together, Airstream. Cheaping out on fabric - both in seating and in bedding - is not okay. Even the cheapest stuff you've used in Bambi and Caravel the past 5 or 6 years has been lightyears better.

    I’m 76 yrs if you buy, only buy dry bath/separate shower on right side. Toilet sink left. Mercedes makes this and their competitors. Wet baths are terrible wet towels for drying. Constantly. Mold, mildew. Slim dampness. Never ever buy a wet bath. And don’t have to buy flush toilets there are dry toilet no smell no flush wraps tight folds up air tight. Throw in dumpster. No cheap but no flushing tanks, no water dependency. Clean living. One more point to make we bought ours in Italy. They take this wonderful engineered van and add bright warm colors like home. We have deep dark red couches lazy boy chairs. Bright stone flooring except bedrooms luscious warm carpet. No matter how nasty the weather these welcome you. Our guess for dinner beg to stay till morning. We invite🤗🇺🇸Italy the best shipment to USA $780. Trucking to our home $680. You can also get optional engine drive train. Michigan

    I realize that this is a prototype unit, but I've noticed this on many of the ones I've seen on dealer lots -- at about 17:30 in this video, he opens the cabinet, and there is a huge gap between the cabinet and the aluminum interior. Wouldn't items get lost/caught in this gap? Is this gap normal? Is there a function that the gap serves? ua-cam.com/video/z0ocJIqt7hY/v-deo.html

    How come you add a powerful electric system with large capacity in batteries and inverter, yet you still have a gas cooktop. This is ridiculous. If you want to get rid of inconveniences like a generator and gas and go full electric, why would you keep the cooktop a gas one? At least offer an induction cooktop! You are offering composting toilet. Give those who want a fully off grid unit, meaning all electric with solar, no generator and the capacity to recharge with an alternator, a choice to get of gas. In the Ridgeline, you got rid of gas, but kept the generator. Go figure!
