This is such an old video but exactly what I needed. I got so confused by the straps and felt like a moron. So simple after watching the video but I was completely clueless. Thank you!
Yes there seems to be about 200 feed choices.
I just replaced the straps on my toe clips. The rust on the clips did them in. I managed to put them on wrong in several different ways and then I found your video. Doh!! Thank you, thank you for your fine video!!!
Another good BikeMan video! I always appreciate the input from the Camera Guy too.
TheFaithtrix It's his father.
Dude great vid! I've been trying to figure out how to fix my straps forever. Thanks for the help !
I very much appreciate this video. I am just in the process of installing these on my hybride - thank you very much. Makes perfect sense, well explained.
Hey Bikeman
Been having real problems getting my foot in on the move turns out my lbs had set the strap up wrong with a double U bend round the spring changed it up and it works perfect
Thanks dude
I only tighten my straps initially and leave them just tight enough to slip my feet in and out easily without having to loosen them. Clip in pedals are not practical for my rides but toe clips are more efficient than flats. Toe clips are a great compromise.
Loosen
Thanks for the strap threading reminder. Fine explanations throughout.
Thank you so much for describing how to thread the strap! I couldn't figure it out and the owners manuel didn't elaborate on it! Thanks again!
great video, answers lots of questions and could see clearly what was going on, thanks.
Awesome! Got my straps right the first time! Great advice!
I was trying to make something so simple - difficult. Thanks for the info on threading the strap.
great video! i had that strap wrapped every which way but right
until you showed me the light!
rock on bikeman!
glad you liked it, glad we could help
Wow! I just got a stationary pooboo bike and this video made it so easy to install the little things. I swear to God it took me less than 10 seconds.
Bikeman should make a video describing the different pedals and various sizes and all!!!!
Thanks for the help and advice!
Thanks i had to remove the straps on my pedals to give my bike a good cleaning and couldn't remember how to put them back on. Saved me from frustration trying to figure it out.
Thank you! I was trying to make the straps more complicated!
Good tip with the straps, helped a lot.... thanks
Thanks, I was confused as to how the strap was supposed to thread through the buckle.
no matter what your videos look like, that was helpful :)
Another THANKS for the info on threading the strap :)
This was both hilarious and helpful, thanks!
What a great video, it helped me a lot thanks
once again, another Great video ! thanks
Takes getting a little use to-I've been using toe clips since the early 90;s and have never been foot trapped on or off road-Though I must admit, I don't ride any real technical off road trails anymore but I still commute sever miles a month. riding - you get use to adjusting straps appropriately-of course now I'll probably get a foot stuck tomorrow and keel over at a stop light :-)!
Good job Bruh!!
@ownable
Feels different. Straps feel like ur foot is bound with any shoe. But with clips it feels like ur stuck on glue and dosnt feel good with a loose shoe.
Man I remembered those days dealing with toe traps, at least that's what we called them on Jamaica when I was a cyclist
as a left leg amputee, this has been very useful
emf1111 Same here! Thanks Bikeman.
Really? I don't mean to be rude or anything but that seems fascinating. I'm glad that you can both ride again! I'd never considered that application
Still wondering what the second hole in the strap is for, next to teethed one. Not the one at the end where you can put the strap through to make it look nice, but in between.
how to prevent foot scratches using that toe cage?because I am wearing slippers here in our subdivision and I have a fixed gear and it has a toe cage...I don't want to have scratches from that toecage...
@TXNYVBSD Glad we could help... Have you seen our new show??
My goodness, thank you!
@sdwalker86 Glad we could help
Very clean explanation
Thank you. We try very hard to to help the average Joe be a better mechanic
If your bike pedals don't support toe clips and straps, then do you have to replace them with ones that do?
@elec73rd why straps, when they get dirty, its harder to clean them and they will lose the effect...
Anytime, My Friend
bikeman. Ive been subscribed to your videos for months. I have learned a ton from you. I need a pair of these for my fixie. Can you cut me a deal?
Thank you so much.
If you stop at a junction how do u get your foot out??
Well explained, but shouldn't you grease the pedal threads?
Yes. Have one I cant get off.
What size of shoes fit 9/16 pedals?
King!
would they be okay for fixed gear
What model pedal is that
I can understand that. Start with the strap real loose. Have a shoe with a smooth rubber bottom. Good luck, let us know how you make out.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!
Isn’t the idea behind the straps that if you pull them one way, they tighten around your foot, but if you pull them the other way, they loosen?
The young guys won't get it but the Bikeman here kind of looks like Andre the Giant!
Thanks
me 2!vvvv i cant put the other foot inside my toe clip! someone tell me how you guys do it! please!
my pedal can work for toe clip and it work for strap as well
Key word "could" Those pedals come with some lite lube on them, you can't see it on the vid. THX for the comment
Thank you I was making the alligator clip soooo much harder than it needed to be!!!!
THANK YOU BIKE MAN
Just me i guess... Thank u bikeman! And camera dude. Dam u old school in this vid.. Hehe.
i cant get my other foot into the strap :(
@0wnable ive got already now i have straps lol!!
"Its a very nice looking pedal" Haha. Thank you for showing me how the strap works. Did it wrong for a whole damn year!
3 years.😨
2021
From experience you spend what seems an hour desperately trying to get your foot free, at the same time you will be heading towards the ground...what ever you do wear mitts, clip-less is the way to go really...you can still end up eating dirt but I found it safer ...
Might need a crank arm too. Shoot a vid with that fancy phone you got and we will reply with our fancy phone. I want to see how badly buggered the threads are..
2:20 there is left drive bikes also bike man
@elec73rd do it while riding ...
So what happens when you need to stop quick @ put your foot down? Your "strapped" to the bike. It sounds like a recipient for a fall over. I just got pedals w/ Toe Clips & Straps and I'm hesitant to use the strap.
He didn't grease the pedal axle! That could cause some heartbreak down the line.
Maybe you shoulda just try and ride those Toe Clips and see what happens. Sometimes, its better to go out and try things rather than ask around whether its safe to use them or not. They've been around for years, and nobody seem to be filing some suit against anyone right?
He looks like a powerful lion.
bike racers used these pedals before clipless were invented, and guess what, they could ride their bikes. Never understood why too much drama around this
agreed, and even if the finish is crap and they rust a little, that's what they invented wd-40 for! lol
If you ride a left drive bike you should know what you are doing.
came here to see how people "thread it in" properly but you are not showing it :(
U seem like a rock spider
@saynotoemo84 What kinda deal you want..... How about a free T-shirt..... You are our daily t-shirt WINNER... PM me your address and size (med, large, or XL)
Plastic piece of shit. They used to make things that last...out of metal.
Thanks a lot! Great vid.
