Thanks Christine. Ive just put the Hotop in my Amazon basket. It is £9.99 here in Uk. Three reels 6 mm 25 yards each roll. Thankyou for testing for us. 👍👍
@@ChristinesHomeAffairsis there a link to this product so I can support you when I place my order ? I appreciate your opinion and love your video’s Thanks
@2missteri that's a lovely thought. If you used the Amazon link in the description, anything you may purchase entitles me to a small commission of about 5 to 10% 🙂
Also in UK on Amazon the Sew Easy is only £3.32 (about $6.50 Australian dollars) for 27metres (30yds) 🤔. Must admit I’ve never used any tape but will definitely try it, thanks for testing this out 👍🏻🙂
Thanks for this testing! After reading hundreds of amazon fake and true reviews on basting tape, I didn’t know which one to pick. Now I know which one.
I would like to thank you for the tutorials and bag sewing encouragement that you have given from your UA-cam videos. I have dreamed of making bags for many years, but did not have the expertise or understanding enough to do a good job. After watching many of your videos I decided to give it a try. Your suggestion on selling them, and having tags that tell the story has also helped me have success. My mother-in-law, who is Japanese had gifted me many kimonos and although my children have taken a few of them. I found there wasn’t a market for them that was worth the value I had for them. They are handmade and are vintage. I decided to make bags with them. I’ve had much success, and I just started this year. I do have one tool that I use that has been very helpful for me. It is a desktop mini vacuum. They are about US$13 or less. I actually bought the cute ladybug looking one. I use it to clean the fabric dust and lint from my ironing board, my cutting area and even from the bags themselves. I feel they work better, and are more economical than the sticky tape lint rollers. I have been using this mini vacuum cleaner for over four years and it still works great. I have been long waiting for your results of the best double-sided sewable tape. Thank you so much for testing those out for us. I hope you continue to have success with your business and with your UA-cam videos.
Thanks so much Lili. How fortunate that you have the kimonos for your bags. I just love that fabric. Thanks for the tip on the mini vacuum. I'll go check that out😁
Oh Christine, I went straight to Amazon and you must have bought all their stock is gone lol. I can't wait till they restock. Thanks for all your help.
Great review! I tend to only use the 1/8” tape now, from dollar shops, K Mart, Spotlight, wherever 😂very interesting to hear about bobbin sticky residue, I’ve never thought of that, and makes sense that it could cause skip stitches etc. thankyou 🌻
Hi Christine! Yup, I have a lot of double-sided tape too. Some good, some not so good. I always keep some alcohol swaps close by to clean the needle when the tape gums it up. Thanks for this tape review video!!
You used double-sided tape in projects since you said you told us about working on a video about it. So, I've been excited to hear your thoughts on it! Thank you! Probably will order some! You were smart to get your order in. ❤❤
I've used Elmer's school glue sticks. One in particular is the purple glue that turns clear and is washable with water. I've used it on keeping several layer sewing to keep them in place when the stitch width is important. Otherwise, I use clips and just put a dot of glue on either end of my zip. Also, if I'm sewing fabric to paper, it works well, but don't slap a heap of glue on, just a thin layer. You do need to make sure your fingers don't get gummy. Great video, as I've been wanting to try some as I sew a lot of zippers. ❤😊
Thank you for doing this review. I was not able to find your original Sew Easy tape where I live but found the HoTop from your link and placed an order😀
Thank you. I coordinate a nonprofit sewing program. I just added the Hotop tape to my Amazon basket. I am always on the lookout for good products at an affordable price. This is great.
Thank you for your test results, I was wondering how the tests were going. Great advice for what to buy without causing dramas to machine and needle xxx
Oh, my goodness! I’ve had the Hotop tape in my Amazon cart for several months and will now order it with confidence! Thank you for doing all the testing.
Thanks for doing this. I’m having trouble with Byannie. Need to look at my bobbin case now and see if it’s gummed up. Will be ordering the Hotop and giving it a try. Will try and let you know how it works for me.
Great testing video. I used your link and popped the tape in my 'wish list' folder as I don't need any at the mo (£9.99 for 3 rolls free p/p). One failure I had 2 years ago - I had some strong sticky velcro tape which I put onto a net door curtain (for fresh air) - thought I'd sew it as well for extra strength as hanging onto part 2 on door frame - 2-3 stitches later and the needle was well and truly stuck!! What a mess haha. 🤐
Thank you so much for testing all these DS tape brands and sharing the results with us. I’ve added the Hotop brand to my Amazon cart. The price in the US is $8.99 for the three-roll package.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Your tips make perfect sense. Have you tried washing away the tape? Some wash aways I tried made a mess in my washing machine. Maybe it's just me. Bravo for "sticking with it".
Hi. I’m in the UK 🙂. Have been using the Hotop for years and never had any problems with it. When I first purchased it was £6.99 for 3 rolls, but has now increased to £9.99, which I still think is a good price. Love all your content 🥰. Hugs from the UK.
Thank you so much for the tape comparison. I bought it straight away. I know it will be handy for my sewing projects and also for my alterations business as well ❤👍
Thanks, Christine! I’ve used Dritz brand but disappointed in its holding power. So i’ve just put Hotop in my amazon cart, 3 spools of 22yds each and 1/4” wide for 8.99 USD. Thank you again! Nancy from Missouri
Thank you, Christine, for this information. Several weeks ago I purchased the Tssart tape. It is very sticky and I figured it would gum up the needle, but was too chicken to try it. I have ordered the Hotop items. I've never used a sewing tape before and am looking forward to trying it out.
Thank you for testing the different tapes. I have used a double sided tape made by Wingkind that has been very good . I haven’t been able to find it. Out of stock. I ordered the hotpot and it works just as you said. I was wondering what I was going to do. I had started testing other double sided tapes. Thank you again for doing the work for us.
Thanks for doing the hard work and sharing your research. You mentioned you use the tape for labels. I struggle with consistency when sewing on my labels. Would love to see a top tips video if you are looking for your next video idea. Thanks again.
Thanks for the demo Christine, I could not find the Hotop brand on Amazon in the USA, it did show a brand called BYUEE and the tape came 3 to a package and there were 3 widths to choose from. I have used the Wonder Tape for years and have found that if I place it a leave it a few minutes while I do a little something else with my project and then come back to remove the cover it does adhere better and doesn't come off with the top cover. Just a tip to try.
Terrific review…sooo helpful. Currently I’m using a 1/8” double sided tape from WAWAK. They’re a Canadian/US company. It’s inexpensive and so far I’m not having it gum up the needle. I can’t say it’s super easy to tear but I tend to use a small scissors to cut all of mine. The By Annie tape is great but a lot more expensive…also 1/8” wide. 🙏👍🙏
Christine, I learn so much from you and really appreciate all your work for us listeners. Do you happen to have a garment bag video? I have not found one. Many thanks from South Carolina.
Great video. This is so helpful. I have a suggestion, since the sew easy is too wide, try cutting in half. It might take a few minutes to do, but you’ll be able to use it with your zippers, and it will go twice as far. Take care
Very interesting, in Canada on Amazon, it sells for $17.29CAD for 3 rolls of 1/4"/22yds per roll...very reasonable, it's in my cart, thanks Christine !!❤️
Thank you for the testing :) I'm from Germany and I use Stylefix. It does not gum up the needle. It's 4mm width (a bit over 1/8 inch) and there are 50m (55 yard) on a roll for 5,90 € (9,80 AUD or 6,40 USD).
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs I've had the best results with 505 basting spray so far. Most others create the fluff and stickiness on the needle, feed dogs, bobbin case etc. I mostly pin baste, but once in awhile it is better to spray.
Greetings from Geelong :-) I've been using Tanner's Bond, a Tandy (US) product that I get from an Australian retailer. It's excellent and very sticky (I don't quilt, only bags and clothing.) I agree with your assessment of the Dritz which I have noticed is not only not very sticky, the glue goes off way too fast.
Sounds like the stickier it is, the more it gums up the needle! (Ps I have used the tape from Daiso here in Aus, and it’s sort of middle of the road, sticks well, but gums up the needle a bit.)
I've been waiting for this to come out. Like many others, I am struggling with this. I can,t seem to find the Hotop on Amazon. Would you mind sharing a link. Thank you Update: found your link and ordered it.
That was FANTASTIC! Thank you! However the Hotop is $98 AUD for 3 rolls. Did not see it being $14 as you mentioned. Am I not looking for the correct one?
Thanks Anna. I've found that the tape in Australia is ridiculously overpriced. I've got on to a supplier that I'm hoping has good tape. If it works, I'll sell it much cheaper on my website. It will take several weeks before I know anything though😀
thanks for sharing ✏🖋🪡🪡🪡 I have been meaning to ask you about the marking pens/ chalks you use and recommend as I have been searching for garment sewing 🪡🪡✏🖋🖊✏
Joy, for garment sewing, I actually prefer to use tailors chalk. I usually sharpen it with the edge of my scissors to get a thin line. Obviously white is the best, but not always practical, and I think yellow is the hardest to remove, but sometimes the only thing I can see😁
Joy, those ones are some that mum purchased from Temu. She buys lots of bits, ends up with too much, and I end up with half of them. All generic brands, but the markers have Chaco written on them, though they're not the authentic chaco brand. @@joyfuljoy5711
Thanks for doing the leg work. I use the Sew Easy tape. I looked for the Hotop on Amazon Australia and found it for $67.00 for 3 rolls. I'm assuming they have sold out of your packs. Can you please supply code of more details on the one you purchased. Thanks Christine 😂❤❤
Here's a link to the USA site Dianne. I've found it cheaper to order it there in bulk and pay around $20 shipping, instead of the inflated price we have here😀 amzn.to/3xniUtT
The HoTop tape is currently on sale in the USA for $7.99 usd. It includes 66 yards at about 5 cents a foot. What a bargain! Thanks for doing this work for us and sacrificing some needles or acetone or both. Thanks for your bodily sacrifice of your finger tips too. I went to your Amazon shop. I have most of the items already although some are different brands. I noticed near the end you had a Teemico tape that costs less than your favorite. Is that a good one? or perhaps you should remove it from your store?
That’s what I use. The amazon tape. I got it because it was cheap. One thing to do. Keep it in a sealed plastic bag or it will dry out and not stick. If you use it a lot, no problem.
The only Hotop tape that shows for me is a hemming tape - the link doesn’t bring it up - shows a different brand. I’m in NZ - I wonder if that’s the issue. Could you (please) check that your link is for the Hotop and I’ll see if someone in Oz could send it to me if it still doesn’t show up for me. Thanks for all your perseverance with such a great result 😊
Try the US site. The one in Australia is very overpriced. It's actually cheaper to by from US, and pay postage than getting it in AU. Here's the link amzn.to/3xniUtT 😀
I wonder if that's the same brand that I have. I haven't used it much so I didn't really pay attention to much to any residue. Hmm got me wondering now.
I had ordered the hotop tape a year ago to try. I must have gotten an old batch or something, it was so dry it did not stick at all and you could not tear it, had to cut it. Maybe I'll have to try again. I'm in the U.S.
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs thanks Christine tried them but no luck got some black water proof and the iron zizzeld it I didn't iron it only the fabric I've learnt
There's a link to my Amazon storefront in the description box. It will lead you to a page of products I like to use. You'll find it there, but if one supplier is out of stock, you might need search for another 🙂
@Christine'sHomeAffairs there is a bag pattern designer and fellow UA-cam creator in Australia that carries double sided tape in 1/8, 1/4 and 3/4. Seams Legit is her company name. Check her out. Hers is tearable.
Thanks so much Landa. I checked it out, but I think that one will gum up the needles. It seems the ones that are very tacky, are the ones that wreak havoc with your machines and needles😁
No worries. I know that several of the creators I watch use the tape she carries and don't have issues. She gets it from the US. By Annie's, also has it and hers definitely doesn't gum up needles. Her products might be in local quilt stores in Australia but maybe not close to you.

Obviously white is the best, but not always practical, and I think yellow is the hardest to remove, but sometimes the only thing I can see😁
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs what are the markers or pens do you use for other sewing items
Joy, those ones are some that mum purchased from Temu. She buys lots of bits, ends up with too much, and I end up with half of them. All generic brands, but the markers have Chaco written on them, though they're not the authentic chaco brand. @@joyfuljoy5711
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs I did get some from temu but they leaked what mess
oh, that's not ideal at all 🌝@@joyfuljoy5711
Thanks for doing the leg work. I use the Sew Easy tape. I looked for the Hotop on Amazon Australia and found it for $67.00 for 3 rolls. I'm assuming they have sold out of your packs. Can you please supply code of more details on the one you purchased. Thanks Christine 😂❤❤
Here's a link to the USA site Dianne. I've found it cheaper to order it there in bulk and pay around $20 shipping, instead of the inflated price we have here😀 amzn.to/3xniUtT
Thanks so much!
You're very welcome Eve. Thank you😀
The HoTop tape is currently on sale in the USA for $7.99 usd.
I forgot I had that there Karen. I'll have to order some and double check that it's good to use😀
That’s what I use. The amazon tape. I got it because it was cheap. One thing to do. Keep it in a sealed plastic bag or it will dry out and not stick. If you use it a lot, no problem.
That's a great tip Melanie. Thank you😁
great video thank you so much!
You're very welcome Dana. Thank you😀
Thanks!
Wow, thank you so much Lynn😊
The only Hotop tape that shows for me is a hemming tape - the link doesn’t bring it up - shows a different brand. I’m in NZ - I wonder if that’s the issue. Could you (please) check that your link is for the Hotop and I’ll see if someone in Oz could send it to me if it still doesn’t show up for me. Thanks for all your perseverance with such a great result 😊
I was trying the AU site as per your link.
Nope, mine was a different brand. I'll do a test myself to pay more attention to those details
It's good to test a few Sheila. That way you'll always have a few options 🙂
I had ordered the hotop tape a year ago to try. I must have gotten an old batch or something, it was so dry it did not stick at all and you could not tear it, had to cut it. Maybe I'll have to try again. I'm in the U.S.
I feel as though that was the problem with the Dritz tape too. It felt very dry in parts😁
Does the gorilla mounting tape come off easily? I’ll be using it on powder coated aluminium fence.
I've never used that tape. It seems as though it would be difficult😁
I love the tape from.Tandy leather
Thanks Betty. I don't think we have Tandy here😁
Hi Christine, could you put a link directly to the HoTop. I can only find 2 rolls for $25
Lee-Anne, there's a direct link in the video description😀
Thanks ❤
Thanks for testing!
By the sound of your description of the Reno Art Tape, it sounded like it was for card making and not necessarily for sewing.
You're right Rebecca. It was a craft tape, but thought I'd give it a go too😀
I got some from Amazon a while back but now I cannot find it on Amazon US.
Here it is Dianna amzn.to/3xniUtT 😀
christine can you tell me where i can get the plastic to line the inside of the cosmetic bags please
It would depend on which country you're in Ruth. Here, I'd try Spotlight, the local fabric store😁
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs thanks Christine tried them but no luck got some black water proof and the iron zizzeld it I didn't iron it only the fabric I've learnt
Every time I try to use the two sided tape to put in a zipper, the tape ends up showing on the outside of the zipper.
Lisa, the trick is to have the DST closer to the zipper tape rather than the zipper teeth. 😀
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs I do. I don’t like to see too close to the teeth, but it seems to be the only way for it not to show up.
I missed the link to the HoTop, did anyone else find it ?
There's a link to my Amazon storefront in the description box. It will lead you to a page of products I like to use. You'll find it there, but if one supplier is out of stock, you might need search for another 🙂
Kesote sells 1/8 inch for less. Wonder if its the same
If it's a washable and disolvable tape you should be ok😁
Appreciate the info and your videos. Shane on me, I’ve watched and enjoyed many. Did I like and subscribe? I am and do now. ❤️
Thanks so much, and welcome to the channel😀
Holy smoke, Amazon want to charge me nearly $30 for delivery for this tape
Oh, that's expensive Michelle. In Australia, the supplier wants to charge over $100 for it😁
Well, that turned out to be an expensive video 🤑😬😄
haha, Oh no🤣
Thanks!
WOW! Thank you so much Rita😀
