    One dead giveaway with the crocodile relatives that look a lot like dinosaurs is that they had an almost plantigrade foot, versus those of the dinosaurs that had strictly digitigrade. So even if a postosuchus ran on two legs, it would look like a human running on tip-toes.

      Yeah, it's a result of convergent evolution. The Rauisuchians took up the niches that the dinosaurs would eventually take up, so the evolved similar features.

      @@thedoruk6324 Superior strenght and size isn't enough to achieve greater evolutionary success. Birds and mammals have much greater species diversity than crocodilians (respectively around 10000 bird species or more, around 6399 mammal species and only around 23 species of crocodilians) and occupy more ecological niches while crocodilians are only semiaquatic ambush predators and piscivores limited to warmer climates. Pseudosuchians dominated in Triassic, Dinosaurs in Jurassic and Cretaceous (and managed to do well in Cenozoic), Synapsids in Permian and entire Cenozoic.

    If you look at the era's for each one, most of the smaller guys are during Cretaceous period. Goes to show how amphibians got smaller over time.

      Not all of them are crocodilians. Some are non crocodilian pseudosuchians, and then phytosaurs are yet another thing.

    I pretty sure that Purusaurus should be smaller, and the fasolasuchus should be a little larger.
