Introducing the Livestock Guardian Dog to Sheep

- Our eleven month old livestock guardian dog, Sam, has been on the farm about three months and spent the entire time guarding our free-rage meat chickens. Now that we are done with chickens for the year, I needed to find a new job for Sam. In this video I introduce Sam to our sheep flock by first having spend a few days with a single ewe and then bringing the entire flock into his one acre paddock. After some chasing he settled down!
I will give an update in a couple weeks once Sam and the flock are moved out to pasture.

As usual AWESOME video!!
Beautiful animals.
Thanks Tammy!
Great video. He’s going to be a good one. Good to see a real day on the farm when it didn’t go bad, it just didn’t go perfect
You nailed it!!!
Very interesting video. That's a great dog. Just takes a little work
Last night the sheep were grazing and Sam was simply watching. Today he has chased them again. Small steps!
Another great video. The dog seems to have a good temperament so I hope he doesn't worry the sheep too much after his initial excitement. If it does work out, he might be useful during the lambing season. But apart from foxes are there any other predators?
Thank you! Actually my biggest predator issue for the sheep flock are dogs. Either stray dogs or, more likely, someone’s dog they let run loose.
Not sure about Sam, but you need another bucket color for the cattle.
Maybe I could train them on a red Tractor Supply bucket!
That lamb!!!!!
He is a cutie! I wish it were a ewe lamb.
